Madelyn withdrew her hand and asked coldly, “Who came up with the idea of using birth control pills?”

Amelia remained silent, and her body felt ice–cold at that moment.

Earlier, when Madelyn confronted Amelia about it, she took full responsibility for herself. Now, Amelia hesitated. If she shouldered all the blame, the Garcia family would be ruined.

For years, Amelia had felt inadequate for not bearing a son. If the company failed now, they would lose everything they had.

Thinking of the sneers and cruel words they would receive from others was frightening.

Yet, Amelia couldn’t bring herself to give up on Elena. She recalled how diligently Elena had cared for her since childhood.

Her heart wasn’t devoid of feelings. As the years passed, Amelia regarded Elena as her true daughter.

The pain in Amelia’s gaze only served to infuriate Madelyn even more. She yanked Amelia’s hand on her knee and rose.

“You need to think about it carefully. Do you want to save the Garcia family or Elena?”

Amelia trembled in fear and collapsed onto the ground. Madelyn

didn’t even spare her a glance as she stormed out.

As Madelyn approached the door, Nora followed her out and called after her, “Ms. Madelyn, there’s no need to be at odds with Ms. Elena. It’s not her fault that Mrs. Garcia doesn’t favor you.”

Madelyn balled her hands into fists as she tried to control her temper. Unable to restrain herself any longer she spun around and faced Nora.

With a swift motion, Madelyn delivered a slap across Nora’s face. You deceptive bitch!”

Nora was left speechless and stunned, her hand instinctively rising to cover her face. She hadn’t expected Madelyn to strike her.

In the past, Madelyn was not well–regarded in the Garcia family. Despite being treated with indifference, she’d always maintained a gentle demeanor and avoided attention.

“All these years, you’ve been working with Elena to plot against Bethany and me. Amelia might be a haive fool, but we aren’t!”

Upon hearing this, Nora’s face turned pale, and she looked at Madelym

with fear. 

“No! I didn’t help Ms. Elena to hurt you and Ms. Bethany. Mrs. Garcia orchestrated everything,” Nora blurted in desperation.

Before Nora could finish speaking, Madelyn slapped her again across the face.

Nora was sent crashing to the ground, her head hitting the floor. Blood welled up from the wound.

Madelyn glared at Nota and warned, “Beth is coming back soon. If you dare cause trouble again, I’ll make sure you wish you were never born.”

With that, Madelyn left without another word. Nora was paralyzed

Today, Madelyn had presented Amella with a difficult choice.

After getting into the car, Madelyn glanced at the time. It was nearly eleven, so she headed straight to her meeting with Carrie and Stella.

When Madelyn got out of the car, she told Benson, “I’ll take a taxi to the office later. You can head back.”

Benson nodded. Just as Madelyn was about to head inside, her phone vibrated.

Expecting a call from Amelia, Madelyn checked her phone and saw it was from Victoria. She hung up without a second thought.

The phone rang again. After a moment’s hesitation, Madelyn answered, “Hello.”

“Are you all grown up now?” Victoria’s authoritative voice sounded.

Knowing what was coming, Madelyn hung up again. She had never done something like this before, but lately, she had been doing many things she’d never done.

With that, Madelyn headed inside.
