Madelyn forced a smile, suppressing her emotions. “Alright, Grandma, let’s not talk about Beth and me. Shall we talk

about Elena instead?”

She looked at Elena with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes,

filled with an unspoken meaning. Elena felt a sudden chill and a sense of foreboding.

Victoria went along with her words by saying, “Elena? Isn’t she going to work at Andrew’s company? That’s good. She can help keep an eye on him for you.

“A man with money and looks should never be taken lightly. We’ll all feel more at ease with someone to watch over him.”

Madelyn’s gaze at Elena grew even more profound. So, was this facade by Amelia and Victoria another undying pretense to insert Elena by Andrew’s side?

Elena felt increasingly uneasy under Madelyn’s scrutiny. She had regained her position in Victoria’s favor by announcing that she would join the Miller Group after being sidelined by

“Besides, Elena is pregnant, and no regular company would

hire her. Forcing her into Andrew’s company would be

The room fell silent instantly, with all eyes turning toward Elena’s stomach.

Amelia’s and Elena’s faces turned pale, and so did Caleb’s

as he turned to look at Elena.

Edith was the first to react. “Elena, are you pregnant out of wedlock? Who’s the father?” 

Amelia and Elena froze. Their faces alternated between shades of paleness as their hearts pounded furiously.

Victoria’s affectionate demeanor turned rigid. Her eyes were wide with shock as she looked at Elena. “Are you really pregnant?”

Elena broke into a cold sweat. “No, Grandma, I…”

Amidst the panic, she looked into Madelyn’s dangerous eyes and swallowed.

She couldn’t say she wasn’t pregnant. If she did, Madelyn would never let her off. She was released from custody just because she was pregnant.
