LYU 26
After returning from Mario’s office, Ghea hurriedly cleaned herself up and went to the kitchen. When she arrived, Sandra and another assistant were already preparing dinner.
Surprised to see Ghea in the kitchen for the first time, Sandra immediately asked. She was afraid that her employer needed something if she took the trouble to come over.
“Ms. Ghea? Why? Do you need something?”
Ghea smiled, approached, and looked at what her two assistants were preparing.
“What are you cooking?”
“Ah, we’re just preparing dinner for Ms. Ghea and Mr. Randy.”
“Yes, what are you planning to cook?”Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
Sandra nodded and pointed to the ingredients on the table.
“Tonight, we plan to cook sweet and sour chicken and Mr. Randy’s favorite capcay, Mba.”
This time, Ghea nodded.
“Let me do it, okay?”
Sandra and the other assistant immediately exchanged glances. Actually, they had no right to forbid anything Ghea wanted to do. However, leaving the employer busy preparing food, was it allowed? They were afraid that Randy might see them and scold them.
“Don’t, Ms. Ghea. We might get scolded by Mr. Randy. Let us handle the cooking.”
Ghea smiled, understanding that her two assistants wouldn’t just let her be. However, in any case, she had to be the one cooking this evening. She wanted to win Randy’s favor so that he would grant her request later.
“Don’t worry, Mr. Randy won’t be angry. Besides, isn’t it okay for a wife to prepare food for her husband?”
Sandra scratched her non-itchy eyebrow. There was clearly no law forbidding a wife from cooking and preparing food for her husband.
“It’s allowed. But-”
“Okay, just relax. You don’t need to worry. I won’t mess up the kitchen.”
Once again, Sandra glanced at the other assistant as if seeking an opinion. After receiving a nod, she reluctantly let Ghea cook whatever she wanted to cook and serve later.
As Ghea was quite skilled and accustomed to cooking by herself, it wasn’t difficult for her to prepare a dinner menu like this. With the available ingredients, she only needed about 40 minutes to finish all the dishes until they were perfectly served on the table.
Also, Ghea intentionally cooked more and gave it to Sandra so that other workers in the house could eat or taste it.
At exactly six in the evening, Randy returned from work. After cleaning up, he went straight to Ghea, who was already sitting nicely in the dining room.
“You’re here early.”
“I’ve been here since earlier.”
“Oh, really?”
Ghea nodded.
“Yes, since five. And then I deliberately cooked and prepared all this,” explained Ghea, pointing to the neatly arranged food on the table.
“Did you cook this?” Randy asked. His eyes squinted as if he doubted what his wife had just said. In Randy’s experience, rich kids, especially the youngest, were usually averse to the kitchen, let alone bothering with stoves and spices.
“Of course, Uncle. I’m skilled at cooking when it comes to being beautiful. So, hurry up and taste it.”
Intentionally displaying a kind attitude unlike usual, Ghea then spooned a piece of sweet and sour chicken and capcay that she had cooked. She added potato fritters and chili sauce, all cooked by herself without the help of Sandra or any other assistants. “Please eat, and don’t forget to give me a fair rating.”
Randy was momentarily surprised by his wife’s unusual behavior this evening. A moment later, he nodded. Grabbing a spoon next to his plate, he began to try the food Ghea gave him. At the first bite, he seemed ordinary. But with the second bite, Randy clearly nodded repeatedly.
“Tasty. Out of 10, I’ll give it a 9,” he said without bragging. Honestly, Randy initially seemed skeptical, but after tasting Ghea’s cooking, it turned out the food was indeed as good as the girl had claimed.
“Why only 9? Why not 10?” protested Ghea. She had done her best to cook so that her food would be perfect.
“Well, because 10 or perfection belongs only to God, Ghe,” Randy replied casually, smiling. Then he continued to enjoy his meal until everything on his plate was gone.
Believing that her husband enjoyed what she had served, Ghea tried to find the right moment. Anxious hope mixed with embarrassment, afraid that her request might be outright rejected by her husband. But if she didn’t try, how would she know the result, right?
“Actually, there’s something important I want to talk about,” Ghea whispered with her head down.
Randy, who had just finished his drink, immediately turned. Staring deeply, he tried to guess what his wife wanted to discuss. It was rare for Ghea to invite him to talk seriously. Was this still related to his mother’s request for them to have children soon?
“What do you want to talk about? Just be straightforward. I’m not a scary person. So, feel free to talk.”
“This is about… uh…”
“Yes? About what?”
“About my college assignment,” the girl said softly. Lifting her face, she looked back at her husband, who had been observing her since earlier. “As an architect, Uncle knows how the final assignment for this major works, right? There’s an obligation where I have to do an internship. The deadline is the day after tomorrow, and I have to submit the schedule to the lecturer. The problem is, I haven’t found a place to-”
“Do you want to intern at my office?” Randy quickly interrupted, as if he could read what was in Ghea’s mind right now. “It’s okay if you want to intern there. You can even share a room with me,” he added while smiling.
Ghea sighed. She had been half dead worried that she would be rejected. Apparently, it was that easy to ask for help from her husband. Oh dear, Ghea, your pride is really something!
“It doesn’t have to be in the same room, Uncle. But, seriously, can I intern at your office?”
Randy nodded casually.
“Sure, you can. I’d do anything for you. After all, you’re my wife.”
In hearing that sentence, for some reason, Ghea felt butterflies fluttering in her stomach. Moreover, there was a certain emphasis on the word ‘my wife’ that felt different this time compared to the usual when her husband uttered that phrase.
“Thank you. So, when can I start the internship?”
“Tomorrow is fine. You can choose where you want to be placed, depending on your tasks and expertise.”
Ghea’s smile widened even more. Her friends and her brother were right. If there’s an easy option, why look for something difficult? She should make use of Randy, who indeed had everything.
“Thank you so much, Uncle. Really, thank you,” Ghea said, then stood up. “In that case, I’ll prepare the proposal and materials to bring tomorrow. Let’s go together to your office.”
Randy nodded, letting Ghea go with a wide smile. In his heart, he was both happy and thinking that maybe this was one way for him to get his wife’s attention so that she would slowly accept him.
