“Why are you staring at me?”

Samuel, who had his eyes closed, suddenly spoke up, startling Shelmaine.

He sat on the couch and listened to their conversation, as if he were there but not there at the same time. Shelmaine ignored him entirely as if he were invisible.

Julien wasn’t just there for a quick visit. He kept talking to Shelmaine. Out of politeness, she had to respond to him. Even when she didn’t speak, he showed no intention of leaving. He just sat there without moving.

She didn’t know how Julien and Samuel felt, but she started to feel uncomfortable. She was trapped in an awkward situation.
