Chapter 100

Chapter 100

Samuel left after Natasha entered her room. They had booked separate rooms for the night. She had protested against it at first, but he had told her that they shouldn’t stay in the sare room until after they were married.

As much as she hated to admit it, she knew what he was implying.

Natasha sobbed through the night. She wanted to call Eliana but decided that she couldn’t turn to the older lady for help every time she ran into a problem. She couldn’t rely on

But at least they had eliminated a threat by making Shelmaine lose her baby, Natasha did not have as much to fear.

However, her jealousy flared at the thought of the lipstick stain on Samuel’s lips, and she could feel an ugly emotion consuming her whole.

Samuel was not surprised to get a call from pollen after he had left the hotel. He picked up and was immediately greeted with a straightforward invitation from pulien. “Care for a

drink

me the location,” Samuel said.

“Send me the

“Already did,Julien answered, hitting “send” on his phone.

It didn’t take long for Samuel to join Julien at the bar. He had discarded his jacket, and the top few buttons of his shirt were undone, revealing his collarbones and the beginnings of a sculpted chest.

He pulled out achair at jolien’s table and Et a cigarette, his gaze falling on the dozen bottles of beer on the table

Julien had started drinking without him, and Samuel said nothing as he helped himself to a bottle. In the end, the former broke the silence. “You upset Shelmaine.” Samuel made no reply.

“Her eyes were glistening with tears, but when I asked her about it, she refused to tell me. I figured you must have sought her out. She wouldn’t be so upset otherwise,” Jullen elaborated.

“you seem certain that I was behind it,” San

Samuel pointed out flatly.

“Well, it certainly wasn’t me who upset her,” pollen countered wryly.

“Who’s to say? I’m not exactly privy to your relationship with her.”Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Julien snorted. “Come on, Samuel Shelly’s my girlfriend, and I love her. Last I checked, you’ve ended things with her. I’d like for you to leave her alone from now on.” Samuel was still reticent. He rolled up his sleeves and downed the last of his bottle of beer. He then grabbed a few cubes of ice and dumped them into his glass, pouring hard liquor

over them.

He downed it like water even as the liquor burned the back of his throat. “Did she tell you about the baby?” he asked, pinning Julien with a long, hard stare.

It was Julien’s hirm to fell silent. He had no idea what led up to Shelmaine’s miscarriage, and he wasn’t the sort to pry if she wasn’t inclined to talk about it. He didn’t want her to spiral into grief.

I’m not sure,” he admitted at last.

Samuel scoffed. “Wah, right”

“You don’t have to believe me, but I’m telling the truth. She was lost in her grief after her miscarriage, and she refused to see me for a long time after that.” Julien was trying to tell him that Shelmaine had been through a lot and didn’t deserve to be hurt anymore,

“Sorry I didn’t know she had a miscarriage,” Samuel explained grimly. He downed another glass of liquor “I won’t push her boundaries anymore.

“Thanks,” Julien said, raising his glass, “I hope you keep your word.”

Thanks? Samuel nearly snorted, and he actually did the next second. “Thad too much to drink last night, and I crossed the line. Would you mind telling her that I’m sorry?” “I will,” Julien promised

After midnight, Jullen dropped by Shelmaine’s place and knocked on her door. It took her a while to open it.

She was in her pajamas, and her long hair cascaded past her shoulders The warm, yellow lights overhead cast a soft, ethereal glow over her.
