Chapter 217
Chapter 217
Cordelia paused for a second before turning to see Everard casually standing up. "I'm done with this class too," he declared, making his way towards the exit.
Cordelia was baffled.
Why stick around if the very reason for her staying, the kids, were being sent away? There was an odd appeal, though, in the thought of joining them in their stand, almost like a quirky adventure.
Everard had his punishment for Lucille all mapped out in his head, but he didn't want to make a scene. Hence, his silence.
Well, Lucille can consider himself jobless come tomorrow.
With that thought, Everard strolled leisurely to Cordelia, ready to make a grand exit alongside the kids when another voice rang out-
"I'm done too."
Keen stood up and followed suit.
Everard was puzzled.
"I don't deserve to be here for Lucille's class either."
Hanley rose, not heading out, but clearly making a statement.
"Me too!"
Daisy suddenly stood, guilt-ridden from a morning incident involving borrowing a pen from Cordelia which Lucille had blown way out of proportion. Seeing others stand up for what's right, she couldn't lag behind.
"Me too!" Following Daisy, Cordelia's other two roommates stood. They were a tight-knit group, especially after Cordelia's help with their homework the night before. It was only right to show some solidarity.
"Then, me too!"
Sean, a bit timidly, raised his hand and stood. With Keen by his side showing support, how could he not?
Lucille's actions were clearly out of line!
More and more students stood up.
The classroom was in a silent uproar. About a third of the class, nearly seventy out of two hundred plus students, were on their feet. How could the class go on?
Lucille was stunned, and Waldron, the next teacher, was equally taken aback.
Soon, the head of Autumn Gold Academic Bootcamp rushed in, quickly assessed the situation, and made a swift decision. "Waldron, take over the class. Lucille, we'll talk tomorrow."
He then turned to the students, "Alright, everyone, back to your seats. Remember, you're here for the National Math Olympiad, not to play heroes. This isn't some old western showdown, and your teachers aren't outlaws."
Lucille, seething with rage but unable to retaliate, stormed out.
Waldron, replacing Lucille, called for order. "Cordelia, please, take your seat."
Everard, who had contemplated a dramatic exit, was now perplexed.
Class resumed under Waldron's more amicable guidance. After a heavy two-hour session, he announced a break from lectures to allow for problem- solving practice.
"Cordelia, can I have a word?" he asked once class was dismissed.
Outside, Waldron's tone was concerned, not accusatory. "Lucille holds some clout in the Math circle. It might be best to apologize to keep the peace After all, both you and Keen are our best shots at bringing home a gold medal this year tucille may have his grievances, but I'll ensure he doesn't cross the line. However, openly disrespecting a teacher was out of line. Apologize, and I'll smooth things over."
Cordelia's resolve was firm. "I'll apologize, but only if he first apologizes to... to the student he insulted."
Waldron sighed at her stubbornness, "I've said my piece. Just focus on your prep. Regardless of what happens at boot camp, you're still in the running for the Olympiad."
As Cordelia returned to class, Waldron headed to the office, finding the boot camp director comforting a disgruntled Lucille.
Queenie stood off to the side,
animatedly recounting the incident, "...All Lucille did was get a question wrong, and she's acting all high and mighty, confronting her right there,, 'What do you think you are, Lucille When Lucille got upset, she went, 'Oh, Lucille, you're nothing.' This girl, since she stepped into the school, started spreading this bizarre cult vibe, claiming she's some kind of guru, telling her classmates to touch her for good luck on exams. Everyone knows about it; first day of school, they were all crowding in her dorm room! Seriously, she's stirring up all kinds of bad vibes in the dorm."
After Queenie finished, the person in charge furrowed their brows, "Is this student really that arrogant?"
Queenie nodded, "Yeah, you could ask anyone."
The person in charge did just that, calling over a few more students.
Those students, seemingly close with Queenie and with Lucille watching, hesitated to speak up. The person in charge asked, "So, did Cordelia really insult Lucille by saying she's 'nothing'?"
The students nodded.
With that confirmation, the person in charge was visibly upset, "Students today are getting too full of
themselves! We need to deal with et
this seriously. But, I'll investigate further. Once it's all confirmed, I'll report this to the Honor Board. Lucille, don't worry, we won't let this discourage the teachers."
Lucille, feeling somewhat reassured, added, "Also, we should notify Superiority College about this, have them rethink if they really want to admit such a student!"This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.
