Chapter 597 Edmund's One And Only Concern

"The news is not completely inaccurate through. Indeed, there was a time when Carla was engaged to

Before Edmund could finish talking, Eunice turned around and interrupted him.

"I heard that some people saw Carla and Johnny walking around the old town. They had even been

she commented as she closely watched Edmund's reaction.

Eunice couldn't believe how much Edmund's attitude had changed towards Carla after she gave birth

to Sally.

Eunice had Eric, her son. However, she had never felt that Edmund had treated her differently.

But instead of voicing out the injustice and jealousy that she felt, she said, "You're right, Father. I will

keep that in mind and I won't judge Carla any more. But, Father, I don't know Carla very well. I had only

met her a few times before she got into that accident. And after she had come back, I only saw her

once or twice."

"I guess what happened in the past doesn't really matter anymore. She has come back with Terence's

daughter. Even if she had committed some mistakes before, I think it could easily be forgiven."

Eunice thoughtfully said while she continued to look at Sally, who was now playing with a toy airplane

outside. She then looked at Edmund who was still carefully trimming the plant in front of him.

"It's kind of interesting though. Carla had been married to Terence in JA City for so long but not once

did I hear anything about her pregnancy. But right after the accident, it was revealed that she had been

pregnant all along. It even seemed like the accident helped her to get pregnant,"

With that, Edmund coughed and put down the pair of scissors in his hand.

"Grandpa, look! My plane is huge and nice, don't you think so?"

Sally ran up cheerfully towards Edmund while holding the plane model on her hands.

"Sally! You're here! Come over and give Grandpa a big hug..."

But before he could proceed to hug the little girl, Edmund took the wet towel from the servant. After

making sure that his hands were all clean, he picked up Sally and put her on his lap. "Sally, can you tell

Grandpa the name of the place that you and Mommy had stayed in before coming here?"

At that moment, Sally was imitating the sound of an airplane. She stopped so she could respond to her

Grandpa's question.

"Grandpa, are you talking about Sister Abby's home?"

Then, Edmund asked, "Were there other people living in Sister Abbey's home with you?"

He knew Terence had visited the place, but he hadn't asked too much about it.

"Yes! There's Brother Bob, Aunty Cathy and Uncle Duke!" Sally said and held her airplane as high as

she could. With a hard swing, she let the plane go.

"It's flying! It's flying! My plane is flying!"

Within a few seconds, the plane crashed on the ground.

Meanwhile, Eunice cried out in pain.

It turned out that the plane had hit her before it finally landed on the ground.

Eunice's face twisted into annoyance. She was really irritated so she kicked the plane away from her.

"Eunice, what are you doing?" Edmund scolded.

Sally saw with her own eyes when Eunice kicked her plane away. Her little face crumpled up in

annoyance. She quickly got off Edmund's lap, ran to her plane and picked it up.

She looked at it carefully and found out that the left front tire of the plane was broken.

"Waaaaah! Grandpa! It's broken..."

Sally cried out as tears started to fill her eyes. She held the precious toy closely by her chest with one

hand. She ran to Edmund as her other hand held the broken tire.

The closer she got to Edmund, the harder she cried. "Grandpa, this... this is the plane that you gave to

me the last time I... I was here. I liked it too... too much to play with it at home. Waaaah... I just played it

today. And now, it's already broken... Eunice is a bad... bad Aunt!"

Edmund instantly picked Sally up and tried to comfort her. "It's okay! It's okay! Don't cry! It's not a big

deal! Grandpa will just buy you a new and better one!"

Then, Edmund turned to Eunice and stated, "Eunice, she didn't mean to hit you with the plane. Why do

you look so angry?"

He was even shaking his head while he scolded Eunice.

He didn't give Eunice a chance to respond. He just wiped the tears off Sally's face and took her

downstairs.

Eunice could only watch their receding figures while she bit her lower lip in anger. She caressed her left

shoulder where she had been hit by the plane and mumbled, "What an old fool to regard such a little

bastard so preciously."

Edmund had gone so there was no point for Eunice to water the plants. No one was going to

appreciate her anymore.

With that in mind, she grabbed her phone and walked out.

Suddenly, what Sally said flashed through her mind. She was surprised to find out that a couple had

saved Carla.

She wondered how Carla found out that she was pregnant when she was in BT Village.

Eunice found it hard to believe that it was just a mere coincidence.

With these thoughts in mind, she looked at the direction where Edmund had left with her discerning

eyes.

In the living room, Carla had finished up. She was just thinking about finding Sally so they could go

back to the Seaview Villa when Edmund entered the room with the little girl in his arms.

"Sally, are you crying? What did you do this time, my little trouble maker?"

Carla asked as she took Sally from Edmund's arms and pinched her little nose.

"Carla, don't blame the little kid for anything. She didn't do anything wrong. It was Eunice's fault. Sally

accidentally hit Eunice with her plane while she was playing. Then, Eunice kicked the toy and broke the

plane,"

Edmund explained, standing up for Sally.

"Mommy, Eunice is a bad aunt! She broke my precious plane!"

Sally complained with a huge pout while she continued to sniff through her nose.

Edmund knew Sally was not going to let it go easily. He lightly touched her little head. "Grandpa

promised you that he's going to get you a better one, didn't he?"

Then, he turned his head to Carla and said, "Carla, Eunice didn't do it on purpose. Please don't think

about it too much."

Edmund knew that he was the father-in-law for both Carla and Eunice. He didn't want to see two of his

family members fight. He wanted this family to be happy and in harmony.

"I understand, Father. Anyways, I'm free now, so I'm going to take Sally back," Carla said to Edmund

with a small smile on her face.

"Okay. Sally, don't cry. Grandpa will have a lot of different airplanes for you when you come next time!"

Edmund softly said with a little coo as he touched her baby face with great care.

Then, Carla and Sally left without any more interruptions.

Edmund let out a heavy sigh. When Carla and Sally had been gone a little while, he took out his phone

and called Terence.

"Terence, did you have a paternity test on Sally?"

"Father, is there something wrong? Why are you suddenly asking about that?"

Terence, who was sitting in his office, asked with a deep frown.

"Nothing's wrong, I'm just a little concerned. You and Carla had been married for half a year before she

went missing. I like Sally but everything just seems to be too perfect. I'm just a little concerned about

Sally's identity,"

Edmund said with honesty. He didn't care about a lot of things. However, when it came to things about

their family and anything that had to do with them, he had to be extra careful.

"Father, you worry too much! We already took the test the week that I met Sally. She is my biological

daughter," Terence said on the other side of the line in a firm tone.

"Oh, is that so? Then, that's good to know. I just simply thought about it today and wanted to check with

you."

Edmund let out a sigh of relief. "Don't think too much about it then. I'll let you go to your duties. If you

have the time, come over and have dinner with me. That's it. Bye."

Edmund finally felt better after he hung up. He then thought about how impossible it was for Sally not to

be Terence's daughter. She looked just like him.

He figured that he was just getting too old to think clearly about some things that he even started to

suspect the unnecessary things.

The news about Carla that had been spreading was completely exaggerated. He was Terence's father,

so naturally, he had checked Carla's background before they got married. There were a lot of things

about the news that didn't add up.

When he heard about it, he didn't give it a second thought.

He only cared about one thing. As long as Sally was his granddaughter, he had nothing to worry about.

On the other end of the call, Terence didn't put his phone down. He quickly called Carla afterward.

"Carla, where are you?"

"We just left Father's house. Sally and I are on our way back home."

Carla had just walked out of the East Yard's door with Sally.

"Don't go home. I miss you. Let's meet up! Tell the driver to take you straight to the company,"

Terence said as he narrowed his eyes in a smile.
