Chapter 325 Karl Got Angry
Mrs. May was stunned by the words and turned her head back to see Karl approaching with a crowd of people around him. He wore a chic dark brown double-breasted suit with a black tie and combed his back hair to reveal his sharp and three-dimensional facial features, British and elegant.
When she saw Karl, May smiled with her charming, sharp eyes hiding cold becoming soft all of a sudden.
“Hill…”
She smiled and greeted him, but Karl didn’t look at her at all. Instead, he looked at Hailey and waved at Hailey, “Come here.”
He looked calm, yet Hailey could sense the active volcano hidden beneath the iceberg. He must be angry.
Was Karl angry with her?
Her heart skipped a beat.
Hailey meekly walked over and called out, “Karl.”
And asked, “What are you doing here?”
Karl was so busy that he often couldn’t even spare time to attend state banquets, let alone such fun receptions.
“I came to find you.”
Karl gave her a quiet look, his voice low and cold, “Are you playing crazy?”
“No.”
Hailey lowered her head slightly and said softly, afraid that Karl would teach her a lesson outside.
She also wanted to save face…
Karl didn’t want to lecture his sister outside either, so he said lightly, “Go home.”
“Oh.” Hailey followed him closely, while Mrs. May caught up with her skirt herself and stopped in front of Karl, “Hill…“
Karl gently took Hailey into his arms, keeping her away from Mrs. May, as if he was afraid May would get something dirty on her.
He gave Mrs. May a cold look, and his blue eyes were filled with coldness, making people feel frightened.
“What’s wrong with you, Ms. May?”
He said in a cold, hard, and official voice.
Mrs. May felt a chill in her heart at his cold attitude, especially in front of Hailey. She only felt her face hot, as if she had been burned hard by fire.
“Do you have to be so cold to me?”
With her eyes towards Karl full of anger and sorrow, Mrs. May tearfully complained, “We have known each other for so many years, but you…”
“Mrs. May, please behave yourself.”
Karl interrupted her coldly, “There is nothing between us.”
He held Hailey’s shoulders, walked around Mrs. May, and headed out.
Looking at Karl’s back, Mrs. May was so ashamed and angry that her face was almost distorted, “Hill Ingram!”
Ignoring the stares from the crowd, she shouted his name.
“My life was ruined by you! How can you do this to me?”
Karl did not stop for her.
From the beginning to the end, he did not even give her an extra look.
Hailey was astonished.
Karl was a typical English gentleman. Although he was aloof, he always followed basic etiquette in social situations.
It was the first time she had seen him show such indifference, even disgust, towards a woman.Who the hell was that Mrs. May?
Why did she say that her life was ruined by Karl?
Hailey got into the car with a lot of questions, and just as she was about to speak, she was stopped by a serious look from Karl.
He moved his lips and said coldly, “What do you want to do?”
“…” Hailey felt guilty in her heart, “Nothing. I just came out to play.”
“You’re flaunting every day, like a peacock spreading its tail. You call that playing?” Karl said coldly.
Hailey retorted in a whisper, “The male peacock is the one spreading its tail, not the female…”
Karl’s voice was even harsher, “You’re teaching me about nature?”
“Yo.”
Hailey looked up in surprise, “Karl, you can still say ‘nature’, and your Conglish is getting better.”
Karl stopped talking and pursed his scarlet lips into a line, with his blue eyes staring at Hailey, making a chill run up Hailey’s back.
She silently lowered her head, not daring to make any more jokes.
It was so quiet in the car on the way back that it was a little frightening.
Until they got back to Magic Castle, Karl still ignored Hailey and straightly got out of the car.
Hailey also got out of the car in silence and walked behind Karl with her head drooping. The maids wanted to greet her when they saw her coming back, but she stopped them with her eyes and gestures.
The maids didn’t know what had happened when they saw her leave excitedly and return unhappy.
Looking at Mr. Ingram’s expression, they did not dare to ask more questions and silently stepped back, secretly worrying for Miss. Was Ms. Newman making trouble outside?
When she got upstairs, Hailey lowered her head and tried to turn to her room, however Karl, as if he had eyes in the back of his head, said without looking back, “Come to my study.”
…..
Hailey silently closed her eyes and forced herself to follow Karl.
Once he entered the study, Karl took off his suit jacket and set up the writing materials for Hailey.
He pressed Hailey’s shoulder, sat her down in the chair, and said, “Write.”
Hailey was confused, “Write what?” Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
Karl lit a cigarette, with the cold smoke lingering in front of his cold face. He said in a slightly lower and deeper voice, “Self-criticism.”
Hailey: “…”
Her brain hurt when she heard the word “self-criticism”.
“Karl,” she called out weakly, “I thought you said I didn’t have to write it?”
“I find I’ve been too kind to you.”
Karl stared at her with his cold eyes, and said nonchalantly, “You will never learn and will continue to do wrong things if I don’t let you write a self-criticism.”
“Karl…” Hailey pleaded with him.
Karl was ruthless, “Write 3,000-word self-criticism, if you say one more word, 1,000 more words will be added.”
Hailey stood up, “Don’t…”
Karl, “4,000 words.”
Hailey got anxious, “Karl…”
Karl, “6,000 words.”
Hailey sat down at once, very desperate, not daring to bargain.
She didn’t dare to say a word more.
Write it.
Hailey laid out the rice paper and lifted the brush, just wanting to cry.
It was slow enough to write self-criticism with a fountain pen, but now she had to write self-criticism with a brush, and she had to write 6,000 words with regular script in small characters!
The siblings were all afraid of Karl using this trick on them since they were little.
It was a terrible thing!
Not to mention whether it was very strange, she was suffocating to death to be sitting here writing brushstrokes in this gown.
She looked towards Karl with pleading eyes, but Karl was sitting on the couch looking at a book, very focused, not looking at her at all.
Hailey couldn’t take it anymore after writing 1,000 words, so she pulled out a piece of rice paper, quickly wrote down a few words with the brush, and held it in front of Karl.
Karl still ignored her and didn’t even look up.
Hailey was going crazy, wanting to know why he was so arrogant.
She tentatively stretched out a finger and gently poked Karl’s shoulder.
Only then did Karl lazily raise his eyes, and Hailey hurriedly held up the paper which was written in black and white, “I apply to change!”
Karl gently raised his hand.
