Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 73

Chapter 73

Chapter 73 Mr. Unpredictable and Miss Irresistible After work, Damien called Lily into his office.

Fueled with horror and anxiety, Lily entered Damien’s office for the first time.

She knew he was going to ask about Clarissa.

Looking at Damien from a distance, Lily was so nervous that she was shivering from head to toe. Lily

didn’t know how exactly Clarissa spent every single day with someone as frightening as Damien.

“Did you and Clarissa meet Joseph Moore on Saturday?” As expected, the first thing Damien

mentioned was Clarissa.

At this moment, Lily felt as if she was undergoing a lie detector test. Facing Damien’s interrogation, she

wouldn’t dare to lie to him.

So, Lily told Damien everything that had happened that day; from how they went on a tour around

Josepli’s accounting firm, to how Clarissa was looking forward to a professional working environment.

She even filled Damien in about Clarissa’s decision to apply as an assistant in his accounting firm.

“He only gave her a book? What about a notebook?” Damien pressed on.

“Joseph told her he’d mail the notebook to Clarissa a few days later.”

“Alright.” Damien frowned. It seemed like they had met each other personally without Lily.

“Mr. Lawrence, I’ve tried to convince Clarissa otherwise. I told her many times that working in New East

Corporate is a rare opportunity. However, she told me she’s been looking forvard to working in a

professional working environment ever since she was fifteen. Plus, she’s always a target of gossip in

our company no matter where she goes.”

Lily even tried to put in a few good words about Damien by stating that the reason Clarissa was looking

forward to work at Great West Accounting Firm wasn’t at all because of her fondness towards Joseph.

“Is that really what she said?” Damien frowned.

“What do you mean?”

“The thing about gossiping.” “Yes. Since she has an odd relationship with you, everyone’s trying to take

advantage of her by getting on good terms with her. Those who hate her are trying everything they can

to rid of her privilege. After experiencing all these, she told me she wanted a change in terms of her

working environment. She hoped she could earn a place in a company by her own achievement.”

Aside from what Clarissa had said, Lily even reassured him that Clarissa didn’t fall for Joseph’s

personality and achievements whatsoever.

“Okay. Don’t tell Clarissa about what happened today, no matter what.”

“I won’t!” Lily was worried that she might be the one instigating a war between the couple. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

Upon knowing that Damien wasn’t keen on letting Clarissa know about their conversation, she lieaved

a sigh of relief and left.

In the evening, the human resource department released a new set of official rules and Guidelines. The

original document was still intact, with the addition of one rule: ‘Employees are prohibited from

gossiping in the office. If caught, a thirty-dollar fine will be issued.’ When they saw this new rule,

everyone in the office muttered under their breaths, “I’m sure this is about Clarissa’s miscarriage.”

“We shouldn’t talk about this. Thirty dollars a time is no joke to normal einployees like us!”

The employee slapped her cheek instantly. “You’re right! I have to restrain myself.”

Clarissa had one thought. ‘Why does it seem like the rules are made for me?’

After work, Damien went back home alone because Clarissa still had to settle some accounts. Around

eight at night, having finally completed her work, she stretched her arms lazily. Now, there was nobody

in the office. So, Clarissa opened the application form given by Joseph and started filling in her details.

It took her an hour to finish everything. Only then did she submit the form to Joseph. After she returned

home by taxi, she was already exhausted. The first thing she did was put her bag and phone aside and

strode into the bathroom. Her phone rang a few times on the bed

Damien tossed his head over and saw two words: Joseph Moore.

It was from Joseph again!

Before Clarissa’s plione could initiate auto-lock, he opened the message and realized that Joseph had

sent a few voice messages lo her. All of his voice messages were directed at one document called Job

Application Form.

It turned out Clarissa had been working on filling in the details all night!

This scheming woman! She had the audacity to do so in his company!

Damien put down the phone and headed downstairs to make a phone call.

Clarissa came out of the bathroom and noticed that Damien wasn’t in the room. While drying her wet

hair with the towel, she swiped through her phone and noticed a few voice messages from Joseph. He

commented on her application, stating that it lacked a detailed explanation regarding her past

experiences. To that, she had to make some amendments.

Clarissa: (Thank you, Mr. Moore. When she heard Damien climbing up the stairs, she put down her

phone instantly. “Where did you go just now?” she asked.

“Why do you want to know? Are you in the middle of something right now? Am I disturbing you?”

Damien spat back sarcastically, though his expression was nonchalant. Clarissa wasn’t sure what

exactly he was hinting at. “Not at all. I was just asking out of curiosity,” she said.

“I was on the phone with a German just now.” Clarissa paused, and looked at Damien with awe and

admiration. “You can speak German?” “Why? Is that odd?” Damien asked as he looked at Clarissa.

“No, it’s just that I didn’t know that before.” “There’s a lot of things you don’t know about me,” he

retorted with displeasure. Hearing his irked response, Clarissa thought, ‘What exactly is he hinting at?”

When they got on the bed, Clarissa inched closer to Damien’s ear and said, “I want to give you a

nickname.”

Damien frowned. “A nickname?”

“Yeah.” Clarissa smiled, worried that it might be inappropriate to make fun of him.

“What do you want to call me?”

“I’m going to call you Mr. Unpredictable.” After she said that, she looked at his facial expression and

stifled her laughter. “Why do you want to call me that?” Clarissa pursed her lips and asked, “Don’t you

think it suits you?”

“Not at all!” Then, he rolled over and pressed his body to hers.

Damien was furious right now. However, Clarissa wasn’t sure if he was angry at her or if he was just

being his usual self. Deep down, Damien was vexed by Clarissa’s decision to meet Joseph without his

knowledge and her plans to quit her job for another man. To him, she seemed unfazed by the impact of

her decision. The fact roiled him up even more. “If I’m Mr. Unpredictable, then what are you?” He

whispered next to her ear, sucking on her neck forcefully. Clarissa’s complexion grew scarlet as she

moaned, “Me? I’m Miss Irresistible.”

Damien pressed his body to hers. Under the bright moonlight, the room went as the couple gazed into

each other’s eyes.
