Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 71

Chapter 71

Chapter 71 Falling For Him The moment he saw Clarissa, Damien glanced at his wristwatch.

“Are you skipping work?” Damien demanded with his decp and magnetic volce.

“Mr. Brooks said I could go back after I finish sending some documents to the State Taxation This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

Administration,” Clarissa explained with a casual tone, at the same time emphasizing the fact that she

wasn’t doing anything out of line. Grandpa Lawrence, who had just finished dinner, said, “I’m taking a

stroll outside. Take your time to talk.”

Then, he left with a smile.

Damien sat on the sofa, folded his legs, and sized up Clarissa. After Clarissa was done doing the

dishes, she walked out from the kitchen and grabbed her canvas bag from the table, prepared to leave.

Good thing Damien noticed it soon enough and grabbed her wrist just in time. Clarissa’s bag wobbled

unsteadily on the table and almost sell to the ground.

This was the second time Clarissa had sat on his lap. The first time, she did it in front of Madelynn out

of spite.

“Are you trying to leave?” Damien narrowed his eyes as he examined her squarely.

With flushed cheeks and ears, Clarissa directed her glare to his face,

“Aren’t you the one who wanted me to move back to the dormitory? I’ve just visited Grandpa, so I’m

leaving now.”

“For a young lady, you really have quite the temper,” Damien spat, making fun of her. Hearing his

sarcastic remark, Clarissa was deeply irked by the word ‘temper’. Who was the one with a bad temper

here? Her eyes grew red with sury and she sneered, “I wonder who’s the one with the big temper

here.”

“Are you talking about me?” Damien continued. “I’m usually an easygoing person under normal

circumstances.”

“Oh, really?” Clarissa was beyond speechless. Everyone in the company knew Damien had a rotten

personality. Everyday, he would walk around the office with a ‘Do Not Approach Unless You Want To

Die’ face. With that, he dared to say that he was an easygoing person? “Don’t you think I’m an

easygoing person?” This time, he deliberately lowered his volume and said with a gentle tone to prove

his point.

“I stand by my own opinion.” “What about you? When have you ever listened to what I have to say?

One word from me and you’re already back home,” Damien asked.

“When have I ever gone against your orders?” Facing Damien, she released her anger that had been

brewing inside her for a few days. “It’s not like I’m entitled to have an opinion, right?

You’ll even murder me il I go against your words.” Thinking about Damien’s raging eyes alone was

enough to send chills all over hier body. “Murder? Of course I won’t do something as illegal as that!”

Damien smiled, lowering his head.

“I’m not talking about it literally, but…” Clarissa wanted to retort, but was taken aback by her own

words. ‘Shit! I fell in his trap again! I should’ve guessed it carlier! “Why aren’t you saying anything?”

Damien pressed on. Clarissa could say nothing, and her face started saring in red. “Say something, will

you?” Looking at Clarissa’s reaction, he pressed on further. He wanted to push Clarissa to her breaking

point. “I haven’t been feeling well these days. My heart’s been quite unstable.” Clarissa swiftly changed

the topic and looked up. All of a sudden, Damien’s hand landed on Clarissa’s chest on her left side.

The rhythm of her heartbeat slowly increasing, she dared not move an inch. “Oh, really? who might’ve

been the cause of that?” He moved his hand around her chest to check her heartbeat.

Clarissa’s heart was about to jump out of her cliest. He was obviously doing this on purpose!

She didn’t reply to his question.

After a while, she blurted out a lie. “It’s not because of you!”

“Really?” Damien smirked and joked around. “If that’s the case, I might as well bleed out and die.”

“Well, you’re better off dead! Once you’re dead, I’ll be your heir and steal your entire fortune!” Clarissa

said proudly. Damien smiled, “Well, I guess you’re capable of doing that.” Still short of breath, Clarissa

lowered her head. Her heart was hammering against her chest. “Have the two of you made up?” Right

at this moment, Grandpa Lawrence’s voice drifted over. Shocked, Clarissa sprung from Damien’s lap

with a face filled with embarrassment. Damien, on the other hand, was still sitting there calmly as he

looked at Clarissa. With red cheeks, she fumbled for words and quickly said, “Grandpa, why are you

back so

early?”

“I’m sorry, dear! I should’ve given you lovebirds a little more time to talk,” Grandpa responded with a

smile.

Clarissa had never seen Grandpa so happy before. It seemed like he wasn’t affected by the news

about her miscarriage.

However, Grandpa’s words still left Clarissa steaming in embarrassment, “Oh, Grandpa! Why are you

so cheeky?” Then, she fled upstairs.
