Chapter 572 Found Out
Chapter 572 Found Out
“Engaged? What engagement?” Clarissa was completely lost. She had been too busy for the past few
days in Lotharia, so she had had no time to check on gossip.
“Clarissa, what kind of fool do you think I am? You were hugging and kissing him in plain sight! You
even did the same all the way in Lotharia. How does it feel to have one man here and another in
Lotharia? You can have fun over there when you’re bored with me here. How dare you use your mother
as an excuse!”
Clarissa was stunned. No wonder Damien hadn’t gone with her. But even though he hadn’t, he still sent
people to watch her.
That meant that Damien knew all about what she had done in Lotharia.
Of course, Clarissa wasn’t so bold that she didn’t feel bad about her actions. She had done the crime,
and she had been found out. She could admit to it.
She didn’t question why Damien had sent someone to tail her, as she was not in a place to do so.
Until now, she still thought that Damien getting married was just a trick.
“Enough. From today onward, you’re no one to me but my son’s mother,” Damien announced. “You can
go back and live on campus.”
Clarissa raised her head, her eyes wide, and stared numbly at him.
“You don’t believe that I’ve gotten married?” After saying this, Damien took a marriage certificate from a
box under the TV set and threw it onto the coffee table.
Damien knew Clarissa wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between a fake marriage certificate and a
real one. After all, Clarissa wasn’t his grandfather. Besides, he was certain she had no capacity to
make such a distinction in such a situation.
Clarissa glared at the certificate and bit her lower lip hard. Her face was pale, her mind blank. Although
she had a lot to say to Damien, she couldn’t utter a single word.
She had wanted to ask what it was that she had done badly, to ask what had happened, that Damien
had done such an unimaginable thing…
But when she saw the marriage certificate, Clarissa thought that nothing mattered anymore.
She still couldn’t accept the truth of what had happened.
“Where’s Neil? If she’s done anything to him, I’ll kill her!” Clarissa felt wronged and enraged.
She didn’t know why Damien had suddenly become so ruthless. Her departure this time had been
approved by him, even.
Besides, she hadn’t even been gone for a week.
What kind of trick had Chanel used?
Regardless of what kind of methods Chanel had used, this all came back to the fact that Damien hadn’t
been able to defend against them. He had rushed to marry someone else in anger over nothing. He
had probably forgotten how he had treated Clarissa back when he was in Florin. Had he been too
angry, or had someone influenced him?
Clarissa returned to her home on campus. She didn’t cry; she only felt numb. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
In the past, she thought it was fine if he had found someone new. But now, she felt as if a part of her
had been cut away.
Logically, she should’ve gotten into a huge fight with Damien, but she hadn’t. She couldn’t argue at all.
They had already divorced, so they could each do whatever they wanted.
Once she got home, Clarissa started drinking. In her hazy drunkenness, she had broken some beer
bottles by accident. However, she had also broken some in anger.
If he could use her as if she was nothing, why couldn’t Clarissa do the same?
So what if he had money? So what if he was the president of a company?
Bethany soon sent Clarissa a Whatsapp message.
Bethany: [Clarissa, are you home? I want to see you.]
Clarissa: [Yes, I’m back. Come over.]
Bethany’s hospital wasn’t too far from the University of Florin. After about twenty minutes, Bethany
arrived at Clarissa’s door.
After going inside, Bethany regarded Clarissa’s place.
“It’s not bad. A new unit too with two rooms. Much better than the university’s staff dorms. It’s big, too. I
can come and stay over next time.” Bethany seemed to be in a good mood. It was probably because
she had someone she liked now, so life was full of hope everywhere.
“Stay over, then.” Clarissa looked numbly at Bethany.
“What’s wrong, Clarissa?” Bethany tapped Clarissa’s shoulder in worry.
“Did you know that Damien got married?” Clarissa looked over hopelessly at Bethany beside her.
Bethany couldn’t react. “To whom? You?”
