Chapter 546 Precious
Chapter 546 Precious
“That’s enough! You’re already thirty, so stop acting so immaturely,” Clarissa said while tidying up.
Bethany threw a tissue onto the floor. “What are you talking about? Being twenty-eight is completely
different from being thirty, okay? One is a woman’s prime, and one’s already going downhill. This soap
opera’s pretty good, actually. I never liked to watch these, but I’ve been binging this the whole night.
Maybe it’s because I’m imagining myself and Caleb in these situations.”
Clarissa stopped. “Are you hallucinating?”
“Whatever.”
“Do you want to eat, or are you going to just keep lying there? Then again, you can do whatever you
want here.”
“You slept with President Lawrence this morning, didn’t you? Looks like you two didn’t get enough of
each other last night.”
Clarissa froze. After half a heartbeat, she said, “What nonsense.”
“Come on, I’m not a gynecologist for nothing. How can I not tell when you’ve had sex?” Bethany’s
attention finally transferred from the soap opera to Clarissa.
Clarissa sniffed herself. Aside from her own scent, she couldn’t smell anything else.
“Stop sniffing! You won’t be able to smell anything. It’s a special ability only gynecologists have!”
Bethany said proudly.
“Stop that nonsense.” Clarissa felt rather awkward.
“Alright, alright. Why don’t you go back to Genovia this weekend?” Bethany asked.
“Genovia? What for?” Clarissa wasn’t against it. Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
“What do you mean, what for? I have to go and suck up to Mrs. Faber! If I’d known earlier that she had
such a handsome and manly son, I would’ve sucked up to her a long time ago.” In truth, Bethany
wasn’t just attracted to Caleb because of his looks. Everything that had happened recently, from his
dissertation to the way he had given up on Clarissa after making up his mind, made her feel that he
was a man of his word. That was why she decided to pursue him.
“Aren’t you putting the cart before the horse?” Clarissa teased.
“Says who? I’m five years older than Caleb, and he’s in the army now. I have to take this opportunity to
win his parents over. Don’t you know why he was hesitant to bring you to meet his parents? It all comes
down to the age gap. Once I settle this issue, we can get married the moment he gets back,” Bethany
said while folding the quilt.
“Are you being serious?” Clarissa suddenly felt like Bethany made so much sense. “But what’s the
point of me going back there?”
Bethany seemed to be disdainful of Clarissa’s intelligence. “I need a reason to go to your place, don’t I?
I can’t possibly say I’m there to visit President Lawrence. Don’t people always say that you have to
keep your best friend and your man apart? Also, you and Mrs. Faber aren’t on the best of terms right
now, right? You can take this opportunity to mend it. It’s killing two birds with one stone.”
Clarissa still didn’t really understand what Bethany getting into Mrs. Faber’s good books had to do with
her, but she could read Bethany’s expression—it was as if she was saying, “You’ll see what I mean
soon.”
It looked like Clarissa was definitely going back to Genovia this weekend.
“I’m leaving this afternoon. It’s time to get back to helping people give birth.” Bethany looked like a
zombie at the thought of going back to work.
“Okay. I’ll treat you to something nice.”
At noon, the two of them took a taxi to a restaurant.
The more time Clarissa spent with Bethany, the more she felt that Bethany was a smart and clear-
headed person. In the past, she and Lily had worked at the same company, which was why she had
been closer to Lily. Now that she was spending more time with Bethany, she couldn’t help thinking that
Bethany was truly precious.
