Chapter 526 You Really Want to Hear It?

Chapter 526 You Really Want to Hear It?

“Huh? Rebecca’s ranting to me about her and Howard.” Clarissa lowered her head to look at her phone

again.

Rebecca: [Is President Lawrence with you right now?]

Clarissa: [Yeah.]

Rebecca: [Can you hand the phone to him? I want to ask him to talk some sense in Howard.]

Clarissa didn’t think this was a good idea. Howard had been Damien’s subordinate in the past, but that

was a long time ago. How could Damien interfere with Howard’s business now? Moreover, Damien was

the one who had sent Howard to jail. The man had to hate Damien.

Seeing her lost in thought, Damien asked, “What are you dreaming about?”

“Rebecca’s messages,” she said as she dried her hair.

She could still smell the sex in the air, perhaps because they had just had some.

“Who?” Damien frowned, obviously not remembering who Rebecca was. After a short while, he said,

“Oh, her. What’s up with her?”

“Do you still remember Howard Brooks? Rebecca said he’s latched onto her, both in bed and in life. Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

She wants you to talk some sense into him.” She waved her phone around as a way of asking him

whether he wanted to speak to Rebecca.

“It’s simple—tell her to move out.” He rubbed his temples. “He’s latched onto her after sleeping with her

once? Now that’s a first. Why haven’t I latched onto you after sleeping with you so many times?”

Clarissa rolled her eyes at him.

“Doesn’t that mean she’ll be giving her house up to him?” she said a little anxiously.

“What’s there to worry about?” Damien looked up at her. “He’ll get bored after some time, but it all

depends on Rebecca’s attitude. You know what sort of person Howard is…”

He trailed off, seemingly full of contempt for Howard.

Clarissa was thinking about how well this would work out.

She asked, “What sort of person is he?”

He shot her a look. “Didn’t you work with him before? Don’t you know how he is? Tell Rebecca to watch

out for him. I can’t help her with this because the more I say, the more scheming Howard will become.

Act like you don’t know a thing about this.”

This seemed to make sense.

“Why did you hire him if you knew he was like this, then? Wasn’t he one of the people who stuck by

you when you were at your hardest?” She couldn’t really understand this.

Suddenly, Damien became unduly reticent.

He looked at Clarissa. “You really want to hear it?”

“Sure.” She sat on the bed in a comfortable position and grabbed a pillow, then looked at him curiously.

She felt he was like a book she couldn’t understand no matter how hard she tried. The older she got,

the harder he was to read.

“We needed a plot of land at that time, and Howard’s father-in-law was in charge of it. When I offered

Howard a plush job, his father-in-law naturally understood what I meant.” Damien looked her in the eye,

trying to gauge her reaction.

As expected, Clarissa was surprised. There was a hidden agenda for everything that he did.

“What happened later on?” she asked.

“Later on, his skills weren’t enough to support his ambition. He took bribes left, right, and center.

Around the time that I started to make my move, his father-in-law passed away, and Ray had

completed his training at Wall Street,” Damien explained calmly.

“So you already planned to have Ray join you? Why’d you go through the hassle of recruiting others,

then?” She widened her eyes.

Damien laughed. “Don’t you know that recruitment’s a way to attract the public’s attention? It’s a form of

advertisement.”
