Chapter 516 You’ll Let Him Go?
Chapter 516 You’ll Let Him Go?
“I’ll go to the University of Florin with you tomorrow. I have to go to Florin for a meeting anyway,”
Damien told Mrs. Faber, trying to comfort her.
Damien was no longer resistant to going to Florin. Actually, he even wished he could have more
excuses to do so.
“Even if I go, I’m afraid he won’t talk to me.” Mrs. Faber looked troubled.
“Don’t worry. Just leave it to me,” Damien said. If Caleb refused to talk, there was still Clarissa. He was
sure the incident had something to do with Clarissa.
“Dad, are we going to the University of Florin? Are you going to see Mommy again?” Nail asked
excitedly.
“I guess so.”
Neil clapped, joyful. “I want to see Mommy! I have to!”
The afternoon the next day, Damien, Mrs. Faber, and Neil arrived at the university.
Caleb had offered to take them to lunch, but Damien rejected the offer. Instead, he took them for lunch
at a big hotel. NôvelDrama.Org © content.
“So, what’s going on?”
To Damien, Caleb had always been a calm and steady young man. Caleb was very fond of Clarissa,
but after he learned about her relationship with Damien, he stopped going after her. He knew when to
stop and let go.
Caleb had pursued Clarissa before, but Damien didn’t take it personally. He wasn’t angry with Caleb as
he knew Caleb was a young man with strong principles.
“It’s nothing. Don’t bother asking.” Caleb refused to talk about it. He kept his head down and kept
eating, remaining stubborn all the way.
Damien was sure it would be impossible to get anything out of Clarissa’s mouth, either. He was even
more convinced this matter was related to her.
Therefore, Damien left the private room and gave Chanel a call in the corridor. He asked her what was
going on.
Chanel was ecstatic that Damien called. Her gloomy sky had become clear and beautiful once more.
She was so exhilarated, she was trembling.
“You came to Florin?” Chanel asked.
“Yes. I’ve just arrived.”
Chanel then explained everything that had happened to Caleb. She claimed that Caleb had stolen
Clarissa’s project and given it to his mentor Don. However, Don exposed him. Caleb couldn’t get along
with his mentor and was too embarrassed to see Clarissa, so he wanted to quit university and join the
army.
Chanel omitted the fact that she had been to Clarissa’s house. She only told Damien about the rumors
circulating the campus, and spoke as if she was a mere bystander.
Damien had already suspected the whole incident had something to do with Clarissa, but he also
thought it was highly unlikely for Caleb to steal her work. Caleb had no reason to do so, anyway.
After lunch, Damien told Mrs. Faber to take Neil back to his grandfather’s house. Then, Damien went to
Clarissa’s house.
Clarissa had no class today, so she was revising her research project at home.
Clarissa reviewed the original content and made some revisions to the report. Although Don said he
hadn’t read them, she was still worried. Therefore, she made some changes.
When she heard the knock on her door, she answered it. She had her glasses on, and her face was
filled with exhaustion.
“What are you doing here?” She was surprised to see Damien here, and pushed her glasses up
slightly.
“You’re looking more and more like an ascetic nun,” Damien said. Without waiting for her invitation, he
strode in.
Clarissa went to get him some water. She wondered if Damien came to see her to talk about Caleb.
Mrs. Faber must have known about Caleb’s intention to join the army.
Clarissa didn’t agree with Caleb’s decision either, but Caleb was too stubborn and couldn’t be moved.
“Do you know? Caleb wants to join the army,” Damien said as he sat on the sofa.
Clarissa put a glass of water in front of him. “Yes, so I’ve heard.”
“And you’re letting him go like this?”
Clarissa furrowed her brows slightly, irritated by the topic. “I can’t control his decision. He’s not a child
anymore. Why are you talking to me about this? Shouldn't you be talking to him instead?”
“Mrs. Faber is crying at home.”
“What does that have to do with me?!” Clarissa’s temper flared all of a sudden. Her anger rose for no
reason and came so suddenly. Even she didn’t understand why she was so furious.
