Love Beyond Control

The old couple who had accompanied Ella from the hospital to her house were hiding further away from the house. After seeing Elion and Henry in front of the house, Ella had asked them to hide there while she went in alone so as to avoid issues. As soon as they saw Ella fall to the ground after being slapped, Mrs. Sam was about to run towards her but Sam stopped her from going.

The two of them remained in their hiding sport for a long time.

“Who are they and why did he slap her?” Asked Sam

“Why will Ella stop us from going in with her after seeing them?” Responded Mrs. Sam with a question.

“But she told us she lived alone right?” Sam couldn’t help but ask.

“No. She said she’s mostly alone at home.”

“Oh! I see. But what do we do with these food stuff and her medical report? We forgot to hand them to her.”

“The most important thing now is that she should be fine.” Explained Mrs. Sam

“That’s right.” Affirmed Mr. Sam

Elion looked at Henry again and said calmly but with so much disgust.

“Dispose her body.”

“Bro, your fingerprints on her cheek…”

“Leave no evidence.” Elion said with a cold arrogant voice.

“I think we can live her in the house and get some poisonous substance into her system so it will look like she committed suicide.” Henry said with a serious face.

Ella who was on the ground was not completely unconscious. She heard everything that was said but she remained silent and pretended to be dead.

Henry took the keys that had fallen from Ella’s hand after the slap and walked back to the door and opened it. After that, he carried her into the house and laid her on the floor.

Since they were in a haste, he forgot to close the door.

As soon as he pushed Elion far away from the house, Sam and his wife ran out from their hiding spot and ran towards the house.

Ella slowly opened her eyes and looked around. Realising that they were gone, she struggled to stand on her feet but was too weak.

Just then, Sam ran into the house and dropped the medical report just beside the door and with so much concern, he bent beside Ella. Seeing that her husband was already inside the house, she dropped the shopping bag and hurried up the stairs.

“Are you okay?” Sam asked as he held her on the left hand while his wife who had just ran in held Ella on the right.

“Let her rest first before you continue with questions. She should be in great pain, we all witnessed how hard she was slapped and how she felt so badly.”

After taking her to the sofa, Ella sat and rested her back on the sofa and gently robbed her red swollen jaw with tears flowing down her cheeks uncontrollably.

Mrs. Sam sighed and sat beside Ella and gently stroke her hair as if she was combing it. She looked at her with eyes full of concern and said

“My dear, we saw what happened…”

“T-they-they a—.” Ella opened her mouth to talk but ended up crying.

After she cried for some time, she finally wiped her eyes, bent her head and spoke out in a very depressed voice.

“My- m-my husband and his broth…”

“You are married?” Mrs. Sam was so shocked with the news that she interrupted Ella without realising it.

After getting what they went to buy from the pharmacy, Henry finally pushed Elion back to the house. When they saw the door open, the two of them were stunned.

Seeing that Elion was too focused on the door, Henry quickly explained.

“I remember closing the door before we left. I think something is wrong. Could it be that she…”

“Will it not be better if she’s alive? I hate her but I can’t let my hands be stained with blood, especially her promiscuous blood.” Responded Elion. Henry didn’t respond but just pushed Elion towards the door. When they approached the door, they heard someone sobbing inside the house. After waiting for some time, Henry pushed Elion into the house. They stood at the door as they were very shocked to see two elderly people comforting Ella.

Ella and the couple didn’t realise that two people were standing at the door and so, they continued their conversation like before.

“Yes, I’m married. I got married just about 3 days ago. When I arrived here, my husband and my brother-in-law left for the farm leaving me alone. Before the day I arrived here, I had not eaten anything and even on the day I signed my marriage which was the day I came here, I still didn’t eat. When I arrived here, my husband and his brother had to catch up with some work on the farm so I was left alone at home. I had some domestic work to do and after doing part of the work, I was very tired and hungry and I decided to take a break. I waited for my husband and his brother to come back but they didn’t come back so I finally slept past 2:00AM. When I woke up the next day, it was already past 8:00AM and after I completed the work, I was very hungry and tired. I took my bath and went around the neighbourhood looking for any menial job I could do, get paid so I could buy food stuff. After going around the whole neighbourhood, I couldn’t get any job. So I had to return to the house. When I was almost reaching the house, I saw my husband and his brother leaving again and it seemed they came just when I left in search of a job and after waiting for me, I didn’t return so they left. She sobbed so hard…”

Mrs. Sam saw two people with the corner of her eye and was frightened but quickly adjusted herself. When she realised that Elion and Henry were back, she pretended not to see them. She alerted Ella and her husband but signalled them to remain calm and continue with their discussion.
