Chapter 86 – Getting tired of Ana.
Cayden
The look on Lily’s face when I told her that I didn’t want her in my life anymore was still haunting me. I just couldn’t get over the fact that I said all those things to her.
A little voice in my head told me that I had to make things right because if I don’t, she might never talk to me again and that will definitely break me.
I stopped the car and I turned to Ana. She looked a little bit surprised and I got out of the car without saying anything to her.
She also got out of the car and started following me.
“You have to go home alone, Ana. I have to get something.” I said to her, while I tried helping her to get a cab.
“But-” she tried saying, before I Interrupted her.Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
“No buts, please. I’ll meet you at home in the next five minutes…I promise.” I said and she agreed.
I watched her enter the car before I started running to where I left Lily. I couldn’t imagine how much hatred she probably had for me.
When I got there, I didn’t see her, but I saw her walking away just a few feet away from me. I started calling her name, hoping she would stop. She didn’t.
After a while, she thankfully came to me and we started talking. I told her how Ana knew about her and she seemed a little bit shocked about that.
When I told her that she also knew about the dinner party and the golf that we went for, she suddenly started blaming me, telling me that I was the one that told Ana about it.
It didn’t make sense to me at all because I was wondering how I could have told her, when I didn’t even want her to know. It made no sense to me at all.
“So, you don’t trust me then?” I asked her and she kept shit instantly. I didn’t say a word after that because I was waiting for her to answer.
A few seconds later, she answered and just like I suspected, her answer was a no.
The both of us started arguing about it and after a while, I was tired of going back and forth with the issue. I just needed a solution to the problem.
“Yeah, that’s why you jus-” she continued saying, but I Interrupted her.
“Just stop, please. I think we should stop arguing for now and focus on the issue we have on the ground.” That seemed to shut her up, as she didn’t argue with me after that.
“So, what do you think we should do? Because I don’t know what to do. You know how much I hate stress.”
Yes, I do know. I thought.
In the process of thinking of what I wanted us to do, I suddenly remembered that I told Ana that I was going to meet her at home in the next five minutes and ten minutes were gone already.
“I think we should-” I started saying, when Lily Interrupted me with her own idea.
“I feel like we should meet up again to discuss this properly.” It seemed like she was in my head, as she said what I wanted to say to her.
I threw a smile at her and I was really happy when she smiled back. I could somehow feel that we didn’t want to meet up again because of this issue, but because we just wanted to see each other again.
“Um, Lily before you go, I have to tell you something.” I really wanted to tell her that I was sorry about what I said earlier and I didn’t mean any of those things. That’s true, I actually don’t mean any of the bad things that I said to her.
“I’m really sorry about what happened earlier, I didn’t mean any of those things I promise you. I’m sorry. It would never happen again. I promise.” In less than two minutes, I had already made two promises to her.
She smiled and she told me that she had forgiven me for it. I was happy and even when we were bidding ourselves goodbye, I was still smiling so hard.
I walked away from the spot and I went into my car. When I remembered that I was going home to meet Ana, my smile slowly faded away and I let out a big sigh before driving off.
When I got home, I parked my car properly before I started walking slowly to the house. Before twisting the door knob, I sighed softly.
“Where were you?” I was greeted with Ana’s angry voice and I finally knew why I didn’t even want to come home to her.
She looked angry that I had spent more time than I promised I was going to spend.
“What do you mean by that? I can go anywhere I want, Ana. Let me be, please.” I said because I was starting to feel really frustrated and angry.
“No, Cayden. I am not going to ‘let you be. I need to know where you went to and why you took so long to come back home, after telling me that you were only going to use five minutes.” She said angrily and the fact that she thought she needed to know where I was, was suddenly making me feel really irritated.
“Knowing my whereabouts isn’t part of the job description, is it?” I said the hostility was really obvious in my voice.
She widened her eyes at me and she lives closer to me.
“No, it isn’t, but do you know what’s actually part of my job description? Exposing the people involved with fraud.” She said with pride in her voice and I couldn’t say anything else again.
She was right about that one and I had nothing to say about that.
When she saw that I wasn’t saying anything, she started smiling at me and she tried touching me, but I brushed her hand aside.
She told me that she wanted us to go out together to have fun, under the pretence of working and that infuriated me. I refused her and I went to my bedroom immediately, to avoid any further unpredictability from her.
