Love At Last

Chapter 29 – The confidential situation.

Cayden

I didn’t even know what to say to Lily, I just kept on looking at her.

“Um, Lily..” I started talking and she cut me off by telling me how sorry she was.. again and I just told her to stop.. I found it weird that she was apologising this way just because she forgot to call me about the second date. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

Lily is really something.

“Why did you think of me like that?” I squinted my eyes at her and waited for a reply. She hesitated before she told me that I seemed to know more girls on the planet than the girls themselves and she was sure that finding me a second date was going to be really hard.

Is it that bad? Am I that.. scary to find a second date for? I took in a deep breath and I released it instantly.

I need to calm down before I deal with Lily because I don’t know where she’s going with all these unnecessary explanations.

“Lily. It’s all fine. At least, I already found a second date.” I said carefully and she replied to me immediately.

“You don’t know how hard it was because you.. don’t know anything about it. You feel everything is easy, don’t you? You saying that casually just made it sound like I didn’t do anything. What do you think this is?” Lily suddenly blurted out and I watched her in surprise.

Where were all these coming from? I looked at her again to see if she was okay. She was.

I continued watching her as she continued putting me down and just when I couldn’t continue taking it, I stopped her mid sentence. Who does she think she is to lecture me? Oh God.

“Just stop there, missy. Who do you think you are to talk to me like that? I am paying you to work and that’s what you’re meant to do and not to rant like this. I paid you and you are going to do the work, so what’s all these, Lily? Tell me!” I screamed at her and she watched me in astonishment. I really thought coming to her was going to be good for me, but it’s the opposite that’s happening. Clearly.

I hissed inwardly and I tried calming myself down. I really don’t want to get angry.. angry.

Just when I thought my day couldn’t get any worse, this happens.

There was a very brief silence that was observed in the room because neither of us could come up with what to say again and just when I thought I had gotten over what she said, I decided to continue talking about it.

“I am paying you a lot of money to get your help and you said all that? You said all that because you don’t know that I’m actually in a life and death situation.” When I said that, she turned her attention back to me and she squinted her eyes in confusion at me.

I silently cleared my throat and I added, “Yes, that’s true. I am in a life and death situation and I actually need your help your help more than I actually admit.” I stopped talking and I waited for her reply. I wondered what her reply was going to be.

“What situation is that?” She asked in a really soft tone. I was right about what her reply was going to be.

Even though I’m not meant to tell anyone at all, I still felt the need to tell her everything from the beginning to the end.

I looked at her and I was sure that I really wanted to tell her. Even if I don’t tell her everything, I still wanted to tell her a part of it.

I took in a deep breath before I spoke again. “I have to get a girlfriend or a wife, so I would be able to take the job by the horns.” I said and I looked at her. For a second, I thought I saw a worried and caring look on her face, but before I confirmed it, it was gone. I sighed softly and a few seconds of silence was observed, with so many things running through our minds.

I was really happy that we were alone in this house. I really can’t afford anyone else hearing our conversation and the confidential part of it.

I just hope she knows how much I really need her help. I don’t need her to keep on getting on my nerves and constantly making me angry. We need to work together to achieve something reasonable.

I really wished I could tell her all these and when I looked at her, it seemed like she actually heard me because I could see a smile trying to break through.

“Okay.” She simply said and I wanted to confirm what she said without jumping into conclusions..

“What’s okay?”

“I’ll help you to get a second date.” She said and this time, I was the one smiling. She doesn’t really know how grateful I am for this. I felt really happy about this and we started talking about it. We finally came to an agreement about it and I silently hoped we wouldn’t argue about it again.

“So now, about my apartment and my personality?” Lily said and she raised a brow at me. I chuckled lightly that she still remembered that even when we had a small fight.

“Your apartment is cute and so are you. That’s what I meant.” I said carefully and she smiled immediately after I said that. When I heard the words leave my mouth, I didn’t believe them, but I actually meant them. She’s cute and that’s it.

“Thank you.” She said with a smile and I smiled back. I heard a growl coming from my stomach and I felt awkward about it. I thought she didn’t hear about it, but when I saw her trying to hold a laugh, then I knew that she had heard it. I also joined in her laughter and we were both laughing together like two weird people.

Well, that’s true. We are both weird and we surprisingly love that.
