Lost and Found: Return of My Mysterious Fiancee

Chapter 866: Ruud's Hundred Ways to Win Over a Child

Ella never expected Logan to be so resolute, refusing to forgive her mother. Panicking, she wanted to rush forward and take Simone away. Jared turned and gave Ella a look, stopping her in her tracks.

"Who told you to leave?! I just said your greatest mistake was failing Ella. If you take her away now, won't she continue to suffer outside, wandering without a home?" Simone froze for a moment, lifting her head in disbelief.

Logan's eyes were filled with pain as he looked at her. "You've ended up like this, and I can't escape the blame. I taught you so much, but I failed to teach you the most important thing-how to judge people!"

"You are my only daughter. As your father, I failed to guide you properly. For years, I've carried guilt and self-reproach in my heart. When I meet your mother in the afterlife, she'll surely blame me and refuse to see me."

As he spoke his final words, Logan couldn't suppress his emotions any longer. Thinking about the woman he loved most, he buried his face in his hands and wept.

Not only had he failed to take care of Simone, but he had also neglected his grandchildren.

Simone, in a rush, stumbled toward Logan. Jared supported her as she threw herself into Logan's arms.

"Dad, Mom won't refuse to see you. It's all my fault. If anyone deserves blame, it's me."

"You will bring Ella back right now!" Logan commanded.

"From this moment forward, you are both part of the Farrell family. You have nothing more to do with the Bailey family!" Logan's voice was firm and resolute.

Under everyone's gaze, Simone and Ella knelt in the ancestral hall. Logan's actions made it clear to everyone-Simone had truly returned to the family. From now on, she and Ella were part of this household, and no one could look down on them.

Tina's lips curved into a faint smile. Uncle could finally let go of his burden.

She turned to look at Jared, whose expression was filled with tenderness.

He reached out, gently squeezing Tina's palm, playing with her fingers.novelbin

Logan's face showed signs of exhaustion. The emotional rollercoaster of the night had taken its toll on his body. Before retiring, he left one final instruction:

"Arrange a room for Simone and Ella. Ella, take good care of your mother."

The next morning.

Half-asleep, Tina rolled over and nestled into Jared's arms.

With one arm propped up, Jared leaned over slightly. His eyelashes were dark and thick, framing his deep, alluring eyes, which seemed to hold a hint of spring warmth as he gazed at her.

Tina, still groggy, opened her eyes and blushed under his intense stare. She buried her face shyly, only to lift it again moments later.

Jared chuckled lowly, clearly amused. "Was I too gentle with you last night? Is that why you're up so early today?"

Tina shifted to a more comfortable position, her delicate features tinged with irritation. "My phone kept ringing. It's so noisy."

Jared pinched her nose playfully, a smile in his eyes. "Next time, leave it by me. I'll handle it for you."

Ruud had been calling all morning. Tina answered one of his calls to check on Natalie's condition. Once assured there was nothing wrong, she felt relieved. However, Ruud kept calling with no real purpose, and Tina, annoyed, stopped answering altogether. She had already planned to visit Natalie today anyway.

Tina stopped dozing and leaned up to kiss Jared's chin.

"Good morning, Uncle," she said, her voice playful as she slipped out of bed.

The sound of water running came from the bathroom as she began her morning routine.

Jared sat there, speechless.

Once again, the little minx had teased him.

When Jared and Tina arrived at the Pace family residence, the security guards at the gate conducted a routine check. A scanner swept over their bodies, and once cleared, they were allowed entry.

Inside the white-themed room, advanced medical equipment surrounded Natalie, who lay quietly on the bed with her eyes closed.

Ruud leaned over, placing a bouquet of pink roses, still glistening with dew, into the vase by her bedside. The faint fragrance filled the room. Each rose had been carefully selected and trimmed by his own hand. A soft knock came at the door.

"Come in," Ruud said quietly.

Gabe and Armel poked their heads in. Ruud looked up, a flicker of disappointment crossing his eyes. The atmosphere around him grew heavy.

"Boss, we've brought the list of a hundred ways to win over your daughter, just like you asked!" Armel said with a sheepish grin. Gabe, standing behind him, looked slightly guilty but still kept his back straight. Ruud shot them a look, sharp as a dagger. A cold snort escaped his nose. "You two still have the nerve to show up?"

When he was summoned earlier, he'd undergone rounds of inspection by the higher-ups.

First, they checked for disguises.

Then, his physical condition.

Finally, his martial arts skills.

It was endless.

The most absurd part? They even checked to see if he might have been body-swapped!

Ruud had barely restrained himself from beating the inspectors to a pulp.

Only after all the tests were complete did he learn that Gabe and Armel had reported him. At that moment, he'd wanted to send them straight to the frontlines.

Gabe chuckled awkwardly. "It was for safety reasons! You were acting so different, I almost thought I'd seen a ghost!"

Even now, Ruud carried an air of gentleness so uncharacteristic that Gabe still doubted it was truly him.

Ruud ignored him with a cold glance.

Gabe, rubbing his nose in discomfort, offered the list hesitantly. "So, uh, do you still want the hundred ways to win over your daughter?"

Ruud glared. "You're only bringing it now? At this rate, my daughter would've run away already!"

Armel elbowed Gabe, whispering urgently. "He's mad! Do something before he sends us off to die somewhere!"

Gabe whispered back through clenched teeth, "But his daughter doesn't even like him much! What can I do?"

"Is this really the time for that?" Armel hissed, his face full of despair as he glanced at Ruud's expression.

Years of working under Ruud had taught Armel how to read his moods. Right now, Ruud was clearly unhappy. They were like ducks being shoved into the oven-already roasting. Gabe sneaked another look inside the room. His eyes widened.

"Whoa! That bedspread is so pink! Boss, your taste is... impressive!"

Armel froze.

You're trying to get me killed!

Steeling himself, Armel decided to act. Grabbing Gabe by the back of his head, he shoved him forward before he could react.

"Hand over the list properly! Bow and offer it to the boss like your life depends on it!"

Gabe: With friends like these, who needs enemies?

Armel: Friends are for stabbing each other in the back! I'll stab, then let the boss stab too.

Ruud's brows furrowed, the tension sharp enough to crush an ant.

"If you don't hand it over now, my daughter won't even have a place for me in her heart anymore!"

"If you cost me her affection, I'll send you both packing!"
