Chapter 1006: I Was Worried You Wouldn't Like What Others Made
Tina's eyes narrowed sharply as she quickly stepped forward to catch Uncle, who was about to collapse. She pressed her fingers to his pulse for a few seconds before her expression finally relaxed.
Nathan stood frozen nearby, too shocked to say anything. In all these years, he'd never seen Jared look so weak. Could it really be what he feared? "Madam, is Jared..."
Tina glanced at him. "What are you thinking? He's just over-exhausted his internal energy. Go get the admission paperwork done. Uncle needs an IV."
Nathan blinked in surprise before hurriedly helping Jared to a chair and running toward the hospital lobby.
But after a few steps, he suddenly paused. Something didn't seem right.
Wasn't Madam's homemade pill supposed to help with recovery?
Why would Jared still need an IV?
Inside the VIP ward, Tina glanced at Uncle, who was already on a drip, and then walked over to the window to make a phone call.
Jayden's steady voice came from the other end. "Young Master, we've been monitoring as instructed."
Tina gave a soft hum. "Anything?"
Jayden replied, "Still no reaction. Even when there was an unusual light in the southeast, there was no emotion in their eyes. The instruments detected nothing as well."noveldrama
Tina paused for a moment, then shifted the topic. "What about the Swanson family?" Jayden hesitated before answering, "There were indeed findings, but not of suspicious individuals-rather, something else."
Tina's voice turned cold. "What?"
Jayden took a deep breath. Reporting to the young master always made him nervous. "Cole Lyon used a scanner at one of the Swanson family's properties and discovered a significant amount of gold and antiques. Most of the antiques were jewelry, with an estimated value in the tens of millions. However, they don't appear to be archaeological artifacts but rather well-preserved relics from an earlier period."
Tina frowned. "Referenced against what?"
Jayden responded decisively, "The National Museum."
After a moment of thought, Tina decided, "Leave the items untouched and station guards to watch over them. Professionals will come to assess and handle them. Continue monitoring the Swanson family."
This must have been what Kevin had hinted at.
But if these treasures were Claudia's stash within the Swanson family, it would greatly underestimate Claudia.
For someone who had schemed among the hidden families for so many years, wealth was no longer her priority.
What she clung to until the very end-what she could not bear to relinquish-was her true foundation.
If they didn't uncover those things, Claudia's death would not guarantee the end of the threat.
Human greed was boundless. Only by severing the root could everything be cleaned up.
After hanging up the call, Tina walked over to check on Uncle.
As soon as her hand touched him, he grabbed her tightly. His grip was so strong she couldn't pull away.
Looking at the man on the bed, whose brows remained furrowed even in unconsciousness, Tina understood. This was his body's reflex. Even in his weakened state, he wouldn't let her leave.
Since there was no way to move, she climbed onto the bed and decided to rest beside him.
After a long day, her body felt completely drained.
Perhaps it was the warmth of Uncle's body beside her, but Tina quickly fell asleep.
When she woke, her human-shaped pillow was gone, replaced by a fluffy teddy bear in her hands.
No wonder she had felt something was off.
The sky outside had turned dark. Tina pressed her temples, intending to reach for her phone when the door opened.
"You're awake," came Jared's soft voice as he turned on the light.

The sudden brightness made Tina squint. She saw Jared carrying a bag as he entered. Though she couldn't make out most of the items, the strawberry cake inside was unmistakable.
She smiled lazily, her voice still tinged with the drowsiness of just waking up. "Uncle, you went to get me cake."
Jared nodded, washing his hands before unpacking the food he'd brought. "Tina, eat something first. The cake can wait until later."
Tina knew his habits and simply agreed.
While waiting for the food, she picked up her phone and scrolled through her messages. There were texts from Hayden, Hugo, and her master, but most were from her brothers, sending "concerned inquiries."
The messages were so numerous they nearly overflowed her inbox.
Scrolling to the bottom, she found Hugo and her master's numbers and called them directly, ignoring the rest.
The voice on the other end was panicked. "Tina, are you okay?!"
Tina took a sip of water Jared handed her, her tone calm as always. "Hugo, I'm fine. I just rested during the day. How's Jennie?"
During the time Claudia disguised herself as Nancy, Jennie might not have been harmed physically, but she had undoubtedly been frightened.
Hugo responded immediately, "She's fine. Jennie was just worried about you. After the
scare earlier today, she took some medicine and fell asleep."
Thinking about Jennie, Tina decided she would visit her in a few days. "That's good to hear. I'll find time to check on her."
Hugo didn't press further, only urging Tina to take care of herself.
After ending the call, Tina dialed Master Tam.
Before she could speak, Jimmy's excited voice answered, "Serena? Is that really you?"
Tina confirmed with a soft hum, but before she could say more, Jimmy shouted on the other end, "Dexter! Call Master back! Serena's on the line-bet you're all jealous now!" Tina sighed. Couldn't they let her finish a sentence?

The phone was quickly passed to Philip, whose voice was equally anxious. "Serena, are you alright? Are you hurt? You have no idea how worried we were! I even tried contacting Hayden to find out where you were, but he wouldn't answer my calls. Just wait until I get my hands on him-"
Tina moved the phone away from her ear, already regretting making the call.
She had known they'd all gather together. She really shouldn't have called.
By the time the call ended, Jimmy had just grabbed the phone back, his triumphant
grin audible through the line. "Se-"
The dial tone cut him off mid-word.
Jimmy's face darkened instantly.
Beside him, Philip swallowed nervously and quickly defended himself, "It's not my fault! I was talking to Serena just fine, and then you showed up, and the call ended..." Jimmy's expression grew even darker. "So, you're saying Serena would rather talk to you than say one word to me?"
Philip shook his head frantically. "No! That's not what I meant! And even if Serena wanted to end the call, I wouldn't dare say a word too many. I barely said two sentences and didn't even get to hear much of her voice!"
Dexter walked over and added, "Master said Serena should bring some of those 'special local products' when she visits him. He says he needs them!"
Jimmy snorted. "That's Philip's job."
Philip: "..."
All he did was say one sentence to Serena!
Back at the hospital, Tina had only taken a few bites of her meal before her attention
drifted to the cake on the table.
Jared had no choice but to cut her a small slice.
The moment she took a bite, Tina noticed something was off. She turned to Jared.
"Uncle, you made this cake, didn't you?"
Jared nodded. "I was worried you wouldn't like what someone else made."
He mainly didn't trust food prepared by others.
Tina glanced at the meal she'd barely touched, swallowing hard. "Uncle, don't tell me
you went home and made all this too?"
What do you think?
