Living With My Lady Boss

Chapter 1415

Just then, the young lawyer said, "Don't panic just yet, Miss Elise. We'll try to think of a way to get in touch with the people in charge of this case, but you need to have the money ready. Either for bail or for the fine. it's going to be a lot of money."

"I will, thank you so much. I'll pay however much it takes," Elise said in an almost begging tone.

The two lawyers got to their feet, and the mustached one said, "Don't worry. We'll try our best."

Elise got up and walked the two lawyers to the door before curling back up on the sofa limply.

She had never felt this helpless before.noveldrama

The two lawyers drove off after leaving the hotel.

The mustached lawyer chuckled as he drove. "We should be able to make a fortune out of this, Vince."

"You need to know though, Sergey. The case handler told us there's no way Connor Adams and Jaden Horts are going to be released. We're not winning that court case."

Sergey smirked. "Ah, you're still too young to understand. We're only in charge of showing up in court for the lawsuit, not winning it."

"What? Where's the money going to come from, then?" asked Vince.

Sergey barked out a laugh. "We just need to play the drama up, and that little lady

will hand the money over to us just fine. There's no need to worry about that."

Vince gave Sergey a thumbs up, and both men broke out into laughter.

Later that evening.

Wilbur left the hotel and came straight to Ben's office in the bar.

Ben was still puffing on a cigar. This time there was a gnome of a man in front of him, in the middle of a horrifyingly graphic performance with a woman almost two meters tall and a physique similar to Ben's.

The midget lay on the woman's body, and the two of them continued putting on a show that almost made Wilbur throw up.

Wilbur could not for the life of him understand just what kind of people enjoyed performances this sickening.

At last, the performance ended. Ben was the first to applaud, Jeff doing the same with a broad smile behind him

Ben said, "That was a pretty good show, Jeff. Put them in the lineup as soon as possible."

"Got it, Boss." Jeff waved a hand, and the midget and the large woman bowed and left.

Wilbur turned to Ben with a frown. "We should be talking about what you owe me now, Ben."

"What do I owe you?"

Ben gave it some thought, and smacked himself on the head before exclaiming, "Oh, dang, I almost forgot!"

Wilbur raised an eyebrow. "Don't you worry, I'll remind you."

"Ha. Well, my men have combed all of Morburn in the past three days- and to our disappointment, we couldn't find anything on a Lou Harlem. I'm sorry, I tried my best." Ben leaned back in his chair, taking a long drag out of his cigar.

Wilbur's expression darkened. He lit a cigarette, taking a drag out of it. "Don't f*ck with me, Ben. You won't like what happens to you when you fail to do something I paid you for."

"Mister Penn." Ben's expression darkened as well. "I've done everything I could, but the guy doesn't even exist in Morburn. Surely I can't summon a Lou Harlem for you out of thin air, can I?"

Wilbur sneered coldly. "Fine, then. Give me back my money, and I'll pretend this never happened."

"Every penny paid to me belongs to me the second it goes into my pocket. Why should I give it to you?" Ben adjusted his large body in his chair, letting out a condescending smirk.

Wilbur got to his feet abruptly, staring right at him.

Just then, however, Jeff raised a hand. Spiritual energy surged out of him, and an

arrow made completely of ice came hurtling toward Wilbur.

Wilbur turned to the side and dodged it, staring at the two of them coldly.

Jeff looked at Wilbur with a smile. "We've tried our best. Morburn is not the type of place where you can do whatever you want."

Wilbur slowly raised his right hand, his palm facing Jeff.
