Chapter 71 Blacklist

A week later.

Maggie was engrossed in her graduation thesis at school when she received a call from Ronald. He urged, “Maggie, you need to come homel There’s trouble with the Herschire Cultural Park project

“What’s going on?” Maggie feigned ignorance. In reality, she was aware that the project review should have been completed by now. William had put in a significant amount of effort to make sure of it.

TE! Apparently, the Camerons were in deep trouble. The Herschire Cultural Park project is done!

“Come home, and we’ll discuss it.”

After ending the call, Maggie wasted no time and immediately went to the Camerons‘ residence.

Upon her arrival, she found everyone gathered in the living room. The atmosphere is tense and gloomy. Everyone seemed upset.

“Dad, what’s happening? Wasn’t the project progressing smoothly?” Maggie asked anxiously; there was a hint of confusion in her voice.

Sierra also entered the room at the same time; she asked, “What’s going on? Why did you urgently ask me to come home? I was having dinner with friends.”

Before Sierra could finish, Master Cameron raised his hand and angrily hurled the fruit plate on the coffee table toward her.

Startled, Sierra swiftly dodged to the side.

As the glass shattered on the floor, Sierra’s carefree demeanor vanished. It was now replaced by apprehension, and she started to get serious.

“Grandpa, what are you doing? Are you trying to scare me?” Sierra exclaimed as glass shards scattered around her.

“Are you still able to eat after what you’ve done? Do you realize what you have done? You have single- handedly sabotaged the Herschire Cultural Park project by purchasing the drawing from Leo without consulting with us. You have been deceived, but you still feel proud of yourself. You f*ol!”

Master Cameron unleashed a barrage of insults toward Sierra.

Maggie remained composed, observing the chaos calmly. Master Cameron had always been in good health despite his old age. He was so furious that he couldn’t even stand up from the sofa.

“What… what did I do wrong? If I hadn’t obtained the design draft, the project would have truly been. ruined!” Sierra appeared perplexed, unable to understand how everything had been fine when she left in the morning only for Master Cameron to have a sudden outburst upon her return.

Since being caught destroying Maggie’s design draft, Sierra has been grounded. She was only allowed to leave the house that morning, after much pleading.

Little did she know that within a few hours of leaving, she would be urgently summoned to come home,

“That’s enough. Sierra! Stop talking!” Olivia interjected with a furrowed brow. She was eager to assist but felt powerless in the situation

Maggie spoke softly, “Grandpa, what is the issue here? Is there a problem with the design?”

Master Cameron responded sternly. “There’s nothing wrong with the design. However, the problem lies with Lee himself

“I showed the design to Mr. Homer carlier, and the primary reviewer of this project happened to be ant acquaintance of Mr. Homer. Initially, there were no problems. After viewing our proposal, they immediately assumed that it was something we bought.

Maggie startled and furrowed her brow. She remarked, “So they believe that for such a significant project, we had to procure another individual’s proposal, indicating that we are incapable of handling it and untrustworthy

Ronald nodded and added. “Moreover, they question our attitude and reputation. We use someone else’s work as our own, which is viewed as disrespectful and lacking in integrity. They have explicitly stated that there will be no future collaboration with our family.”

Maggie couldn’t help but ask. “No collaboration whatsoever in the future?”

Master Cameron grimaced and spoke in a low, pained voice, “Our family has been blacklisted by the authorities.”

Not only will the Herschire Cultural Park project be affected, but the Camerons will be unable to secure any official projects in the foreseeable future.

Things could change in the future. However, for the next decade or so, the Camerons will face significant challenges in obtaining any official resources.

Observing this. Maggie pursed her lips, and a cold glint flashed in her eyes.

That’s right, her plan goes beyond sabotage the Herschire Cultural Park project. It was meticulously crafted to block any opportunities for the Camerons.

The more Master Cameron wanted to benefit through official channels, the more Maggie was resolute in shattering his hopes.

Without official backing, the family’s future would become increasingly bleak. Their adversaries would undoubtedly exploit their vulnerability. Once news of the blacklisting spreads, the Camerons‘ already tarnished reputation will suffer further damage.

This would trigger a chain reaction with unpredictable consequences, affecting many of the collaborations and projects in the coming years.

This was precisely what Maggie desired.

Unfortunately, Sierra failed to grasp the gravity of the situation. She casually remarked, “So what if we’re blacklisted? Official projects don’t make much profit anyway. What’s the harm in losing a few projects?”

Master Cameron was seething with anger; his fury was incensed by her words. He rose to his feet, gripped his cane, and paced around fn agitation. He exclaimed, “What a troublemaker! How did we raise such a fool like you?”

Sierra was unconvinced, but in the face of Master Cameron’s fury, she held her tongue.

Especially after the recent episode where she suffered a beating from the old man, she still felt the lingering ache in her body.

Maggie raised an eyebrow. Her gaze was dark and profound.

Setting aside other considerations, Master Cameron’s assessment was not entirely unfounded. The family was full of astute individuals, including Olivia. However, perhaps karma had caught up with them, so they ended up with a foolish descendant like Sierra.

As Master Cameron prepared to strike Sierra with his cane again, Olivia swiftly intervened, saying, “Dad, Sierra meant well. None of us anticipated the cunning of the Calebs or how our plan would be exposed. It appears to be a stroke of bad luck.”

Maggie remained silent. She found Olivia’s defense was smart.

The meaning behind her words was the notion that the family had collectively made the decision. Event though Sierra had purchased the proposal on her own, they had all approved it. Blaming everything on the child now that things had gone awry seemed unfair.

Ultimately, Sierra had good intentions and was attempting to make amends.

Pushing away Olivia, who was supporting him, Master Cameron turned his ire toward Olivia because of the incident. He barked, “This is all because of the daughter you raised! Maggie had said from the beginning that this matter was inappropriate, but look at you. When I ordered her to be grounded, you took it upon yourself to let her out. It seems you’ve grown so bold. Am I dead in your eyes?”

Maggie gently interjected, “Grandpa, let it go. Sierra only lost 750 thousand this time, not an exorbitant amount. As for the government project, let’s wait and see if there’s a chance for redemption in the future.”

Seeing Maggie defend Sierra, Olivia quickly added, “Yes, Sierra had made a mistake this time, but the loss was minimal. Don’t be upset. I’ll reach out to Mrs. Harrett later to explore potential opportunities for redemption.”

Just then, a servant hurried over and announced, “Sir, there’s a Mr. Caleb at the door; he claims to be here to collect a debt.”Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
