Chapter 54 What Good Is An Apology

With just one sentence, they successfully shifted the blame onto Maggie.

Master Cameron and Ronald quietly observed Maggie, their expressions unchanged. However, Maggie knew that they must have started to suspect her.

After all, setting aside the suspicious nature of the Camerons, they were well aware that they had been using and manipulating Maggie all along.

Their intentions were not pure, so naturally, they would doubt Maggie’s loyalty.

To put it bluntly, a child from an enemy’s family, no matter how deceived and raised with false affection, was still an outsider to them.

Between their own people and an outsider, who would they suspect first?

“Sierra, what do you mean by that? Grandfather should be aware of the progress of the design draft. It can be completed on time if there are no accidents. Why would I want to ruin my own hard work?”

Maggie looked at Sierra, her eyes filled with tears, each word she uttered seemed to tremble with suppressed emotion.

Sierra seemed satisfied with her reaction and pretended to be innocent. She said, “Maggie, you’re overthinking. I just think that since the servants in our house have been with us for many years, they shouldn’t have any reasons to touch your draft.

“Besides, I’m just pointing out a possibility. Of course, I’m not saying that you definitely did it on purpose, but as the person in charge of such a big project, it’s inevitable that you might feel too much pressure or encounter some problems.”

Sierra’s seemingly understanding words were all leading to the fact that Maggie could not submit the design draft.

Seeing this, Olivia could not help but softly say, “Maggie, I didn’t mean to doubt you, but could it be that you were under too much pressure and accidentally lost the design draft? Think carefully, did you take it out of the house? Or did you forget it somewhere?”

“I didn’t! This matter concerns the future of the Camerons, so how could I be so careless?” Maggie’s eyes were red as she spoke, appearing beyond dispute.

Master Cameron pondered for a moment and tried to reassure her, “Don’t worry, the truth will eventually come to light.”

“I remember we have several cameras in the corridor at home, so one of them should be able to capture. the front of Maggie’s room. Get Mr Watson to check if he can find any records,” Madam Cameron spoke in a deep voice.

Upon hearing this, Master Cameron seemed to remember and immediately ordered his assistant to check

However, Sierra was not panicked. She was well aware of the surveillance in her own home, so she had tampered with it that day by pulling the circuit breaker.

About ten minutes later, the assistant returned and shook his head. “There was a circuit breaker trip on that day, so the surveillance didn’t capture anything.”

Master Cameron frowned in annoyance and said again, “Ronald, take some people and search each room one by one. If anyone is unwilling, fire them.”

“Yes,” Ronald agreed and immediately led people to search.

“Maggie, how could you not take good care of such an important thing and just casually leave it in your room?” Sierra spoke slowly.

Maggie lowered her eyes and remained silent. Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.

Madam Cameron also frowned and said, “Exactly, you should at least lock the draft in the cabinet. Even if it’s not lost, you might get it dirty or damaged if you just leave it out in the open.

Sierra held Madam Cameron’s hand and said again, “Forget it, Grandma. The urgent matter right now is how to make up for it. If I remember correctly, the deadline for submission is the day after tomorrow. If we can’t come up with a reasonable design plan, I’m afraid the Herschire Cultural Park project…”

Sierra’s words trailed off, leaving the sentence unfinished.

“Maggie, can you rush out another design before the deadline?” Master Cameron cut to the chase.

Maggie was taken aback for a few moments, as she hadn’t anticipated Master Cameron asking such a question. She immediately shook her head and choked, “It’s impossible. The design drawings and the detailed and precise data are only available on my computer. There isn’t enough time to re–plan and calculate.

Master Cameron also grew anxious. “You created the drawings yourself, so don’t you have any recollection. at all?”

“I have some… but the Herschire Cultural Park project covers a vast area and involves numerous buildings. How could I possibly remember everything? Besides, even if I do remember, I can’t guarantee its

accuracy.

“Try to remember again. This project is your responsibility, so we naturally trust you completely. We absolutely cannot afford any mistakes at this time,” Madam Cameron spoke coldly.

All eyes fell on Maggie. It was as if she would betray the family’s trust if she couldn’t come up with a

solution.

In her past life, Maggie might have felt guilty about this. Unfortunately, in this life, she seemed to lack something called a conscience.

The Camerons deserved to suffer.

Maggie, please come up with something. Aren’t you the most capable one? You must have a way, right?”

Sierra took a step forward and anxiously grabbed Maggie’s hand, seemingly worried about the family project.

Maggie remained silent. As she bore the reproachful and dissatisfied gazes, she pretended to lower her

Sierra, with her back to everyone, looked gleeful.

She lowered her voice and sneered, “Maggie, I’m not afraid to tell you that I was the one who destroyed your design draft, but what can you do about it? No one will believe you! Hahaha!*

Sierra was overjoyed. No one in the family had believed Maggie when she had threatened her with a dagger.

Now, she was returning the favor, eager to see Maggie’s helpless expression.

Maggie was stunned for a few seconds. Then, she looked at Sierra incredulously.

She murmured, “It was you…

“So what if it was me? Listen, you’re nothing without us! I want to see how you can still be proud after you mess up the Herschire Cultural Park project!”

“You!”

Maggie’s eyes widened with rage as she stared at Sierra, seemingly emotional.

In reality, Maggie was as calm as a cucumber and not the least bit perturbed. She was watching Sierra’s rant with cold eyes.

Tsk, her acting skills were indeed improving.

Now, she was just waiting for Ronald to find something. Hopefully, he wouldn’t disappoint her.

“Maggie, Sierra is right. The Camerons have high expectations for you. Take some time to think and see if there is a way to resolve this,” Olivia added. –

On one hand, she felt a sense of satisfaction at Maggie’s incompetence, but on the other hand, she was concerned about the Herschire Cultural Park project.

It was a conflicting feeling.

Olivia struggled to express her emotions. In short, she disliked Maggie for being too exceptional, yet she was reluctant to witness the project, which could bring significant benefits to the family, fail.

“I apologize, it is entirely my fault…” Maggie managed to say through tears.

Madam Cameron couldn’t contain her anger. “What good is an apology? As a designer, how could you neglect your own drafts? Can your apologies compensate for the family’s loss?”

“Yeah, Maggie. We need to find a solution. Apologies won’t resolve anything at this stage,” Sierra sneered, feeling indescribably satisfied.

Just then, Ronald hastily leaned over the second–floor railing. “Dad, we discovered a camera in Maggie’s room!”
