Legendary Football Superstar

Chapter 034: The First Victory

"Incredible! Freakin' incredible!" Kirk was losing it, jumping around like his chair was on fire. He shot up, his screams practically breaking the mic. "Incredible!" No matter how many times he yelled, it still didn't capture the shock he felt.

"A 43-yard pass! In the final seconds, UCLA Bruins' number eleven took a hit from the opposing number ninety-six. Luke decided to bolt out of the pocket, making space with his own legs. At the crucial moment, he launched a 43-yard bullet pass! Not only did it show off his arm strength, but also his precision on the run! John Ward went all out, diving and rolling to snag the catch, scoring a touchdown!"

"A 43-yard pass, like a freakin' missile, ended the game! Insane, absolutely insane! The moment the football left his hand, Malik had already tackled Luke. But they couldn't mess up the pass. They just watched the ball's path, and finally, John, like some circus acrobat, made an unreal catch, pulling off the greatest comeback of the 2010 NCAA season!"

Kirk looked like he just chugged a whole bottle of whiskey, his face red, veins popping. He rattled off all the commentary in one breath, no pauses. Even then, he couldn't express his excitement. "Incredible!" Kirk repeated, clutching his head, unable to believe his eyes. He had just witnessed an epic comeback on the NCAA field!

With Kirk's rapid-fire commentary, the entire Rose Bowl went nuts.

Jeff's mouth was hanging open, eyes wide, hands up, unable to make a sound. Every cell in his body was screaming, shouting, and jumping, so hyped that all reactions vanished, leaving him only able to stretch his limbs and silently cheer and celebrate.

Nate, like a madman, sprinted and roared in the aisle between the seats, "We won! We won! We won!" Finally, he stood at the front of the stands, waving his right arm like crazy, shouting hoarsely, "Victory! Victory! Victory!" The veins on his neck bulged, spit flying, but he didn't care, just shouting his heart out.

The UCLA side of the stands had less than ten thousand people left, looking lonely in the vast Rose Bowl, like a drop in the ocean, unable to hide the large empty spaces. But these less than ten thousand people erupted with earth-shaking energy, shaking the entire stadium, making the world seem to tremble, as if the sky and earth were collapsing.noveldrama

Everyone was roaring and shouting, their volcanic passion igniting the sparks in the air, burning fiercely. This was a sea of flames. No, it was a sea paved with lava! Jeff and Nate were just two of the sparks.

Half heaven, half hell; half sea of fire, half snowfield.

On the USC side of the stands, more than thirty thousand fans still held on until the last moment. They thought they would witness another victory, a crushing victory over their arch-rival, but they were disappointed, falling into an abyss, their bodies cold. The thirty thousand-strong stands were now dead silent, the shock of the moment stealing all their emotions. They weren't even angry, just stunned and bewildered, as if thinking: What just happened?

This was UCLA's second victory in the Los Angeles city derby since the new millennium, and it was a comeback victory. The whole stadium exploded!

Luke quietly watched the football, watching the arc it drew, its falling trajectory, the power as it landed in John's arms, the moment it entered the end zone, the whistle blowing. He thought he would be ecstatic, but he wasn't. Instead, he felt a sense of relief: he did it, he finally did it.

Luke's tense muscles relaxed, an overwhelming soreness flooding in like a tide. He felt completely drained!

His smile broadened, fully and freely. At this moment, he could finally let go, allowing the crazy joy to engulf him. From high school to college, from freshman to senior, from a nobody to the orchestrator of a comeback, the journey had been tough, but every second was worth it! The happiness exploded in his chest, gradually overflowing.

He was so in love with this moment, so enjoying this moment.

"Buddy." A voice came over. Luke looked up and saw Malik's face, smiling but unable to hide his disappointment. "Remember, you won today, but it doesn't mean you'll always win." This wasn't a taunt, but a confident challenge. "Today, you're the hero!"

Looking at Malik's outstretched right hand, Luke didn't bother getting up. He just raised his right hand and slapped Malik's palm. "Buddy, trust me, next time we meet, I'll still be the one laughing last."

Malik broke into a bright smile. "I highly doubt it," he said, turning to leave. But he paused, as if remembering something, and turned back. "I'm Malik Jackson."

"Luke Howard." These two fierce competitors on the field introduced themselves for the first time after the game.

"Bambi! Bambi! Bambi!" The shouts came like a hurricane, interrupting Luke and Malik. Before Luke could react, Logan rushed over and was the first to jump on Luke, causing him to groan in pain. "You jerk! Get off!"

But before Logan could move, Marcus followed, and then one after another, everyone started piling on top of Luke. Luke felt like he was abo to cough up blood. "These damn guys!"

If the ref hadn't come over to stop them, the celebration might have gone on forever. Seeing the ref's helpless expression, they realized the game wasn't over yet. The touchdown had only taken ten seconds, and there were still twenty-three seconds left in the game.

The players left the field, leaving it to the special teams. UCLA Bruins' special teams didn't mess up. After the ref blew the whistle, they deliberately ran down twenty-two seconds, called a timeout, and then resumed, kicking the ball and securing the final extra point, setting the score at "35:28."

Only then did the ref blow the final whistle.

The 2011 NCAA football season, the Pacific-12 Conference season, officially came to an end!

In the final game, the UCLA Bruins, trailing by three touchdowns and with their starting quarterback injured, completed a massive comeback under the leadership of their backup quarterback, securing their second derby victory in ten years and marking the end of the college careers for the senior players.

Spectacular! Truly spectacular!

All the UCLA Bruins players cheered and celebrated, even lifting Luke high and marching towards the locker room as if they had won the world. Not just because of the victory, but because they defeated their city rivals in a comeback fashion. This victory was so sweet, it felt like a dream.

"Who is he?" After the celebration, Jeff finally calmed down, his mind full of questions. Even without naming names, everyone who watched the game knew who Jeff was asking about. But unfortunately, no one could answer. No one knew the player wearing number eleven on the field; they didn't even know he was on the team.

Danny drove back to the dorm, but before leaving, he couldn't resist turning on the radio to hear the game's result. He wasn't expecting anything, just wanted to know the outcome. Then he heard Kirk's wild commentary on the radio, "The UCLA Bruins have achieved an unbelievable victory, led by backup quarterback Luke Howard. They defeated their city rivals, finishing fourth in the conference."

"What?" Danny thought he misheard and was stunned. The friends in the back seat and passenger seat started howling, sticking their heads out and shouting, "The UCLA Bruins beat the Trojans!" This shout caused many dorm windows to open, and soon the entire building was filled with the sounds of singing and dancing. The party had already started, and they were late.

Danny was dumbfounded. "They actually won!" He muttered to himself, the realization hitting him. The backup quarterback actually won! Then Danny pressed the car horn and kept shouting, "We won! We won!" The horn seemed to wake up the entire campus. Music, horns, and shouts filled the air, and the whole campus started to boil.

It was a sleepless night. For USC, it was a night of shameful defeat, leaving them dejected. For UCLA, it was a night of glorious comeback, making them roar with excitement!

No one predicted the process, and no one predicted the outcome.

Once everyone calmed down, they all asked the same question: Who is number eleven?

For Jay, this was the most wonderful and glorious moment of his college life because he could shout to everyone, "Number eleven! That's my roommate! That's my friend! I know him!" Just with that one sentence, everyone would high-five him. It was that simple.

But the celebration was only halfway through when Jay was pulled away by Emily from

the stands to the backstage locker room. They immediately surrounded Luke. Seeing Luke being carried in by his teammates from afar, Jay waved his hand vigorously, "Bambi, Bambi, over here, it's me, Jay!"
