Chapter 21 Settle The Score
Darya's lips curved into a mocking smile. "There's no need."
She said to Mirabelle West, 'Leave them be. The more they spend, the more they contribute to my wallet.'
The manager nodded and dismissed the security guards.
The ball was now in Judy's court.
Darya owned the spa.
She'd allowed Judy and Felicia to stay.
But would they dare to?
Would they swallow the humiliation of contributing to Darya's company's bottom line?
'We've wasted enough time here,' Avery said. 'The steam chamber's ready."
Darya strolled away with her brother, leaving Felicia to stare after them with barely concealed hatred.
She was about to say something when she felt someone yank on her arm.
Judy was dragging her towards the entrance.
'Mum!' Felicia protested. 'We can't just let the bitch walk away like that!'
'Shut up!' Judy hissed.
She didn't miss the scowl on the manager's face.
From this day onwards, she and Felicia would probably be blacklisted by Remède.
Plus, if Darya was the vindictive type, she could wield the power of pillow talk and convince Avery to declare Judy and Felicia as personae non gratae at all businesses owned by the Paragon Group.
Judy knew she stood no chance going up against a man like Avery.
'Are we just going to leave with our tail between our legs?' Felicia sulked.
'She has someone on her side.' Judy glanced back towards the spa. 'But so do we. Felicia, call your brother.'
Avery never did anything by half measures.
When he worked, he put in hundred and ten per cent.
When he relaxed, he pulled out all the stops.
After the steam chamber, he led Darya to an onsen-style dip pool, a mineral-rich mud pool, a calming

meditative labyrinth, followed by a two-hour full-body bespoke massage and a facial.
Derya obliged, partially because she needed the relaxation, partially because she knew Avery was just trying to take her mind off the unpleasant encounter with Judy and Felicia
I'm fine' She patted her brother's arm. They no longer concern me.'
'I still can't believe you lived with those people for three years. Avery shook his head.
When Darya ran away from home to marry Micah Cavanaugh, Avery was concerned but not overly worried.
He knew of Micah's reputation-a tough negotiator, a shrewd businessman, a hard-charging executive.
In a way, Micah was a younger version of Avery himself, which meant he could be
a hard man to love.
Darya's feeling for him was just a temporary crush.
Avery anticipated that she would come home after the infatuation wore off.
Micah might be ruthless in running a company, but there had never been any rumours about him mistreating
a woman.
Avery wasn't worried about Darya's safety.
Yet, after he saw the way Judy and Felicia treated Darya, he regretted not having done a more thorough background check on Micah.
His opinion of the man had deteriorated from 'smart but aloof' to 'cavalier and possibly abusive.'
A giggle escaped from Darya's lips as the masseuse kneaded her foot. 'Let's forget about them. I'm having dinner with Bianca tonight. Wanna come with?'
Avery nodded.
He only had one item on the agenda today-spend more time with his sister.
To round out the day of beauty treatments, Darya got herself a mani-pedi and left Remède with pale pink nails with gold half-moon designs, but drew the line at having rhinestones glued to her nails.
Avery politely but firmly declined the same offer.
He would do a lot of things for his sister, but painting his nails pink wasn't one of them.
'Come on. You would be the hottest-looking president in the whole CBD.'
The teasing smile on Darya's face vanished when she stepped out of the spa.
Micah was standing on the sidewalk facing the front entrance, flanked by Judy and Felicia.
'Look, it's her!' Felicia grabbed Micah's arm. 'She threw Mum and me out of that place! She even sicced security guards on us! We were manhandled!'
'No respect,' Judy added. 'She has no respect at all.'noveldrama
'She thinks she can look down on us just because she spreads her legs for a rich man!' Felicia spat out words. 'I bet she was already fooling around with him before she divorced you.'
Micah frowned.

He'd only come down here after getting bombarded with dozens of calls from both
his mother and his sister.
They claimed they were mistreated at a spa and wanted his help.
He promised to send his assistant, but both Judy and Felicia insisted on his
presence
They didn't tell him it involved Darya.
And Avery.
Micah saw their linked arms, and his frown deepened.
Darya didn't spare him a glance.
She clung to Avery's arm and waited for the valet to bring their car around.
The silver Mercedes S-Class rolled to a stop in front of them.
The valet jumped out and held the door open solicitously.
Darya walked around the car.
Micah stepped forward and grasped her arm.
Avery shoved his hand away. 'Mr Cavanaugh, watch yourself."
His voice was a low, threatening growl.
Micah thrust his hands into his pockets, kept his eyes on Darya. 'I would like an explanation"
For what?' Darya scoffed.
'For what happened to my mother and sister.'
'How should I know what happened to them?' Darya deliberately examined her new nails as if they were more interesting than talking to her ex-husband. 'Why don't you ask them? They are standing right over there."
Felicia's shrill voice interrupted what Micah was about to say. 'She threw us out! She threatened to send goons to rough us up!'
'Yeah,' Judy chimed in. 'She said it's payback for the diamond ring."
Micah's jaw tightened.
He was dubious about Judy's and Felicia's claims.
The misunderstanding over the diamond ring was over a month ago.
He hadn't known Darya to be the type to bear a grudge.
But then, the past month proved that he hadn't really known her at all.
'Payback?' Darya gave Avery's arm a reassuring squeeze, telling him she could
handle this. "You reminded me, I've yet to settle the score.'
She stepped forward.
The loud slap stunned everyone present.
