Chapter 67 Having Lunch Together

Chapter 67 Having Lunch Together

After he came back to the bedroom, Jackson lied on the bed again, and tightly held Cherry in his arms.

Cherry was almost fully awake, and after she saw Jackson's blurry face, Cherry asked, "With whom did

you speak for so long?"

Jackson immediately replied and felt better. He couldn't be more happy when he saw that Cherry was

willing to talk with him, and said, "Our grandpa called me immediately after I rang Derek back."

When she heard Jackson talk about Grandpa Andrew, Cherry opened her eyes wide, and asked, "Why

did grandpa call?"

There was no doubt that both of them had attached great importance and respect to Grandpa Andrew.

His appearance, his walk, and even the mention of his name, represented a kind of distinct cachet.

Jackson asked for Cherry's opinion and looked in her eyes. "Grandpa wants us to go to his military

compound and have lunch together with him. Would you like to go?"

Cherry didn't avoid Jackson's gaze, and instead looked back at him, and asked, "Haven't you agreed

already?"

When he saw Cherry's face, Jackson nodded, and showed her that she was indeed right.

Cherry then didn't say anything more; she knew that she couldn't ever refuse Grandpa Andrew.

After a while, Cherry said, "Well, let's get up, dress, and wash, then we'll buy a present for grandpa

before we go there."

When he heard that Cherry agreed to go, Jackson happily said, "Okay."

In the evening, Jackson drove with Cherry to the family residence, and when they arrived, they walked

hand in hand into the living room of the Chu family.

When the butler saw that Jackson and Cherry had arrived, he cheerfully said to Andrew, "Master,

Jackson and Cherry have arrived."

Andrew immediately turned around from the window and looked at Jackson and Cherry, but when he

looked more closely at her, his heart ached when he saw her emaciated face. How could his

granddaughter-in-law ever get to suffer so much?

"Grandpa, we're here, " said Jackson as he walked up to Andrew with Cherry.

Cherry politely looked at Andrew, and also greeted him, "Grandpa."

Andrew laid his eyes on her, and said, "Cherry, why have you become so thin nowadays?"

After Andrew finished his words, Jackson hastily looked at Cherry. The woman had really become

emaciated, and had indeed lost a lot of weight.

Cherry lowered her head, and didn't know how to answer him. She had been grieving, but did she

really have to mention it again?

As he looked at Cherry's embarrassed expression, Jackson quickly said to Andrew, "Grandpa, she

hasn't been eating well recently, but I'll try my best to look after her."

Andrew had already known the true reason behind Cherry's emaciation, and when Jackson answered

for Cherry, he then truly understood Cherry's pain. He knew for a fact that she would never tell him the

true reason as to why she was like that.

"Well, that's good, " said Andrew, and as he turned his eyes onto his nephew, he continued, "Jackson,

please take better care of Cherry."

"Yes, grandpa, I will, " answered Jackson.

The butler stood nearby them, and said, "Master, they rarely come back, you should chat with them

more. I'll check in the kitchen, and have a look at how the lunch is turning out."

Andrew felt delighted with the butler's words, and replied, "Fine, fine."

Jackson and Cherry then sat in the living room and talked with Andrew. Cherry didn't amuse and jest

him like she usually did, and instead just answered the questions that he occasionally asked, still trying

to adjust her state of mind.

Andrew suddenly asked, "Did you know John and Jean have divorced?"

Jackson didn't say a word, and instead just turned his focus to Cherry.

Somewhat surprising for Cherry, she didn't react too much to the news, and she also turned around to

Jackson, and looked into his eyes.

When Jackson nodded, Cherry knew that it was true, but she had no mood to think about it or anything

else. What the other people were doing had nothing to do with her, and since Emily had died, who else

was worth to be treasured by her anymore? Her brother Wilson was not at her side, so there was no

one else for her to care about.

When Andrew saw that both Jackson and Cherry kept their silence, he continued to say, "John told me

that he didn't love Jean. His decision made sense."

Andrew didn't mention for a moment that Emily's accident had been related to Jean, and although he

knew about it, he still didn't utter a word about the matter.

"Grandpa, we don't want to get involved in the affairs of our sister's family too much. Now John is the

state governor, and he's all grown up, and he can handle all of that all by himself; you don't have to

worry much about him, " said Jackson. Since he also knew that Cherry didn't want to talk about it, he

tried to evade the subject as politely as he could with Andrew.

"Hum, " Andrew nodded, and said, "That's right, John has grown up now, and he can handle things by

himself, but..."

Andrew then paused, and turned his eyes to Cherry, and said, "Cherry, grandpa wants to tell you

something today. If the Shen family and John ever..."

Jackson stopped Andrew's words, and said, "Grandpa, I'll tell Cherry everything, you don't have to."

Andrew knew what Jackson meant with his interruption; he instead nodded, and stopped speaking.

Cherry had already guessed what Andrew wanted to say. She figured it out the moment she heard that

John and Jean had got divorced.

Cherry then took a deep breath, adjusted her mood, and then looked at her Grandpa Andrew. She said,

"Grandpa, you don't need to take me into account. If the Shen family does anything bad to the Ye

family, you can just do whatever you want to do. I'm a part of the Chu family now, and I haven't

forgotten what Shen family has done to me. I won't pick Shen family's side, because I'll always belong

to the Chu family, and I'll always stand by Jackson."

Cherry's words not only made Andrew feel at ease, but also touched Jackson's heart.

He held his wife tight in his arms, regardless of the elder Andrew who sat next to them, and his love

towards Cherry already overflowed in the room.

Jackson intimately whispered in Cherry's ear, "Baby..."

Cherry slightly raised her head, looked into Jackson's eyes with a shallow smile on her face, but didn't

say a word.

Andrew knew that Cherry made her words perfectly clear, and that there was nothing more that he

couldn't conceal to her. He said, "Cherry, I didn't mean that we have to be directed against the Shen

family; after all, John was the one who proposed the divorce. Your sister Lucia called me because she

was afraid that the Shen family would do something to threaten John, and damage his future. I wanted

to talk to you and ask for your opinion about all of it."

Cherry didn't blame Andrew at all, and peacefully spoke, "Grandpa, I have no opinion about it, and to

be honest, the Shen family means nothing to me now. You must have surely heard about Emily's

accident, and that it's connected to Jean." Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

Cherry then finally uncovered the painful scar that she was carrying. She knew that her grandpa

Andrew was clear in his mind, and said, "I hate Jean, and although I won't do anything bad to her, her

affairs, along with those of the Shen family, have nothing to do with me."

Andrew listened to Cherry's words, and nodded to her without saying a word, keeping his silence

instead.

On the other hand, Jackson's eyes were filled with hatred. He had sworn to himself that the evil woman

would pay the price for her mischievous deeds.

As he caught sight of the hatred that burned in Jackson's eyes, Andrew felt that the atmosphere in the

room had stiffened, and he immediately changed the topic. He said, "By the way, Jackson, I also let our

butler call Derek, and he will come here to eat with us soon. Cherry and you don't mind him, do you?"

Jackson turned his eyes to Cherry, asked, "Baby, are you okay with him?"

Cherry smiled slightly, and replied, "Of?course not, the more the merrier! Derek is not a stranger, and

the two of you have also grown up together in the family residence, so maybe you have already gotten

used to eating your meals together."

As he listened to what Cherry said, Jackson felt his heart fill with happiness. The lovely woman in front

of him could still seize his heart and understand his thoughts.
