Chapter 49 A Chance Meeting At The Hotel (Part One)
Chapter 49 A Chance Meeting At The Hotel (Part One)
Emily had arrived at the international hotel. She sat by the window in a corner and waited for Cherry.
The moment Cherry entered the hotel lobby, Emily saw her. She waved her arms and shouted, "Cherry, Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
I'm here!"
Cherry saw Emily, went over to her and sat down.
"Why are you so late? We agreed to met in twenty minutes, " Emily complained.
"I got here as quickly as I could, " said Cherry. Then she picked up a glass of cold water and sipped
from it.
"Next time you should come sooner, " said Emily. Then she gave Cherry the menu and said, "Well, you
shall order the dishes. It's my treat today!"
"Really? Your treat?" Cherry was flattered.
"Have I ever gone back on my word?" said Emily, seriously. Cherry did not know how to react to this.
Cherry hastily shook her head, picked up the menu and began to order the dishes.
The two chatted while eating. Cherry gradually felt better. She was always in a good mood when she
was with Emily.
After a while, they were 80 percent full. Emily looked at the leftovers on the table and said, "Cherry, we
really have good appetites, don't we? We've eaten more than half of the food."
"Of course. Just think of whom you are having lunch with!" said Cherry, happily.
Emily wanted to go to the bathroom, so she said to Cherry, "Excuse me. I want to go to the bathroom.
Just sit here and wait for me."
Cherry nodded and didn't think too much.
After Emily had gone, Cherry casually looked around and a familiar figure caught her attention.
Cherry was surprised and thought that perhaps it was Sally He. Cherry couldn't see her face clearly,
but she did resemble Sally He from the back and side features.
Cherry kept staring at the side face of Sally He and did not notice that Emily had come back and sat
down.
Emily found that Cherry hadn't noticed her and was staring into the distance. So she looked in that
direction and found there was only a woman in beige dress and a man in suit.
Emily was confused. She thought to herself, 'Is this scene worth seeing? They are not playing out a
love scene!'
"Cherry, what are you looking at? Why are you so serious?" Emily asked, straightforwardly.
"It's her. It must be her. I'm sure of it, " said Cherry, firmly, completely ignoring Emily's question.
"What?" asked Emily, persistently.
"That woman, " said Cherry. Her answer was still unclear.
Emily thought quickly and looked at Cherry in astonishment. She asked, "Is that the woman Jackson
had an affair with?"
Emily already knew that Jackson had an affair with another woman and, because of this, Cherry had
quarrelled with him.
"Yes, it is her. I'm sure of it." Cherry was now even more certain of it.
Emily again looked at the woman sitting some distance away and saw that a man was still standing
next to her.
"But why is she with another man now?" Emily was highly confused.
"I don't know." Cherry did not know that man, nor did she know what their relationship was. It seemed
that they were discussing something, but she could not figure out what they were saying due to their
expressionless faces.
Emily suddenly pulled out her phone and took a picture of them.
Seeing her do this, Cherry quickly asked, "Emily, what are you doing?"
Emily saved the photo in her phone and replied, "Take it easy. I won't send this photo to anyone. I just
want to show this picture to my friends and ask them whether they know these people."
Cherry knew that, after having worked at the bar for so many years, Emily had gathered many
connections. Emily knew people of various social standing, so she might get information if she asked
about Sally He and that man.
Cherry suddenly found that Sally He and that man had stood up and were about to leave. So she
immediately stood up and said, "Emily, they are leaving."
"Do we need to follow them?" Emily stood up, took her bag and was ready to follow them with Cherry.
When Cherry and Emily got out, they saw Sally He and the man get into a car and leave.
Cherry, feeling disappointed, stood still and looked at the disappearing car.
"Forget it. Even if we followed them, what could we do? Maybe next time we'll run into them again, "
said Emily.
"I don't think Sally He is that simple, " guessed Cherry. Jackson hadn't told her anything about Sally He.
Derek hadn't mentioned anything. Even John and Stephen told her nothing about Sally He. So she
knew little about Sally He and she could only guess that she wasn't a simple woman.
"No home-wrecker is simple, " Emily added, "Cherry, forget it. It is a good thing that she is with another
man. Because, in this way, she won't be with Jackson. Shouldn't you feel relieved?"
Cherry thought to herself, 'Emily is right. If Sally He is with another man, then she won't spend time with
Jackson. So I should feel relieved.'
Emily shrugged her shoulders and looked at Cherry. They had finished lunch, so what should they do
next?
"Cherry. What should we do next?" asked Emily.
"Let's go to the bar where you work. Don't you need to work in the afternoon? I'll have a few drinks and
go home later in the afternoon, " said Cherry. She had nothing else to do. She had the misfortune of
meeting Jean and Jade in the morning, and accidentally running into Sally He during lunch. It was a
day full of unpleasant surprises. So if she didn't go for a drink to get over the shock, she would feel
down and out.
"Okay, let's go to the bar, " said Emily.
