I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 380

Chapter 380 It Was Deception

As they chatted, they reached the blood draw room.

Harper knocked and pushed Eleanor in, where other people were already present, separated by curtains. Eleanor was assisted by a nurse and laid on the examination bed to have her blood drawn. Suddenly, a nurse asked, "Why didn't your daughter come with you?"

"She was busy preparing for a concert and couldn't make it," somebody replied.

Harper recognized it immediately as Wanda's voice.

Harper frowned slightly, so Lauren didn't come to the hospital to accompany Wanda.

Harper didn't dwell on it, merely overhearing the conversation as she passed by.

After accompanying Eleanor for her blood draw, Harper pushed her wheelchair ahead while Sean helped Wanda walk behind. Harper, wearing a mask at Eleanor's request, went unrecognized. Just as Harper considered speeding up to keep a distance, Sean's disgruntled voice came from behind. He said, "Lauren hasn't been here for days. Has she stopped caring?"

"Keep your voice down. What if someone hears us? Lauren may not be related to us by blood, but she's already done so much. If we keep demanding more, what if she decides to cut us off?" Wanda cautiously laid out the situation to Sean, who seemed to see the logic in it and thus remained silent.

However, their conversation left Harper in shock.

Lauren wasn't their biological child.

Harper couldn't recover from her surprise for a long time. The news was too sudden, and her first thought was whether Benjamin knew the truth.

After sending Eleanor back to her room, Harper headed straight for the Martin Group to find Benjamin.

Dorcas was there, too. Since their last candid conversation, things have become somewhat lighter between Harper and Dorcas. They nodded in greeting, and then Dorcas promptly left to avoid interrupting Harper's time with Benjamin. Once Dorcas had left, Harper asked Benjamin, "I just went to the hospital with Eleanor for a check-up. Guess what I heard?"

Harper's face was inscrutable, sparking curiosity in Benjamin.

"Such mystery? What did you hear?" Benjamin asked with a faint smile.

Harper responded with a severe tone, "Did Lauren ever tell you that she's not biologically related to her parents?"

"No," Benjamin replied calmly, showing no sign of surprise.

Harper frowned, and she asked, "Benjamin, doesn't that strike you as odd?"

"I've known about it for a while," Benjamin admitted.

"Did she tell you herself?"

"No, Curtis found out." Benjamin disclosed it openly to Harper.

Yet Harper asked, "And that doesn't bother you?"

"Why should it?" Benjamin genuinely wondered, which only confused Harper further.

Now, it was Harper's turn to be puzzled.

She stared curiously at Benjamin, suddenly unsure how to respond to his question. Frowning, Harper said, "She lied to you, doesn't that bother you?"

"I don't mind because it's her business, not mine," Benjamin replied his handsome face serene, his words betraying no concern. Perhaps to him, it was just a trivial matter.

But his response took on a different meaning in Harper's eyes.

If not, it was deception.

So, Harper wanted clarity.

But the response she received now seemed laughable. She was being petty.NôvelDrama.Org © content.

Even if Lauren's secrecy was wrong, Harper's behavior was just gossiping behind someone's back.

With a resigned smile and a hint of ironic mockery in her eyes, Harper scolded herself for her unnecessary actions.

Benjamin possibly didn't mind the faults of someone he loved. Love was about embracing everything.

With a light smile, Harper

apologized, "Sorry, I was being nosy. I should have known better. You love Lauren so much, why would you care if she kept something from you?"
