I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 209

Chapter 209 Go Back to Dattlech

Harper understood Eleanor's concerns. She pressed her lips and spoke softly, "Eleanor, I'm pregnant, over three months now. I'll need your help looking after the baby once it's born, so please take good care of yourself, okay?"

Learning of Harper's pregnancy, Eleanor nodded enthusiastically, grasping Harper's hands tightly, exclaiming, "Of course!"

Eleanor's willingness to cooperate stemmed from Harper's pregnancy.

Planning to let Eleanor rest for a couple of days to regain her strength, Harper intended to take her for a comprehensive medical check-up. Given Eleanor's typical elderly ailments like heart disease and high blood pressure, along with various other sub-health issues, careful attention was necessary.

The Mitchells had heard about Harper moving Eleanor to Mayby and tried to reach out, but Harper consistently avoided their calls.

After settling Eleanor, Harper returned to her apartment across the street. As soon as she entered, she saw Annie sitting on the sofa, hugging her knees and lost in thought. "What's wrong?" Harper asked. Harper had been preoccupied with Eleanor's matters and only then realized how unusually quiet Annie had been.

Annie's face stiffened as she said, "I need to go back to Dattlech."

"So soon? Is it because I haven't been able to spend time with you these past few days?"

"No, something came up, and I had to leave."

Annie shook her head, looking rather listless.

"What happened?" Harper asked casually.

Annie, with a frozen expression, stared at her for a long time before asking softly, "Harper, do you know who the man I left is?"

"Who?" Harper hadn't inquired before. She and Annie always respected each other's privacy.

"Someone you know," Annie said.

"Someone I know?" Harper furrowed her brows.

She looked at Annie and tentatively mentioned a name, "Larry?"

Annie's eyes flickered a silent admission.

Harper was surprised. "It's really him?"

"Yes, it's him. But I lied to you. It wasn't me who left him. He's getting engaged. I didn't want to be the other woman, so I left."

Harper had only heard bits and pieces about Larry's situation and didn't fully understand it.

At that moment, Annie's reaction prompted her to ask subconsciously, "So, he found out you came to Mayby this time?"

"Yes, he somehow got my contact

information and found out I was staying at your place. So, I go back to Dattlech, Harper. Öve already booked my flight."

"When is it?"

"In two hours."

After a brief silence, Harper responded coolly, "Then let's go. I'll drive you. Don't bother packing. I'll send your things after you get back."

Annie nodded, and they immediately set off for the airport.

Time was of the essence. Every second was counted.

At the security checkpoint, Harper watched her go through, receiving a text from her just before boarding. Annie's plane was supposed to land in Dattlech around ten at night, and Harper planned to call her upon her arrival. However, the phone went straight to voicemail.

Initially, Harper thought Annie's flight might have been delayed, or her

Feeling something was amiss and suspecting that Larry might be involved.

Harper decided against confronting Larry at midnight. After much deliberation, she drove to the Pineview Villa.

It had been days since she moved out, and hadn't returned since. Looking at the familiar residence stirred something in her heart.

Having her fingerprint registered at the gate, Harper simply opened the door and went inside.
