Chapter 19
Chapter 19
A second before the elevator doors closed, Angeline dashed forward, her hands forcefully stopping the doors from shutting tight.
Upon sensing something was obstructing the doors from closing, they automatically opened up.
Evander’s face darkened. “What are you doing?”
“I think there’s a misunderstanding between the two of us, so I feel compelled to explain to you what happened before,” Angeline said.
Then she tried entering the elevator, but her leg was stuck after taking one step forward. The heel of her shoe was caught in the gap between the elevator and the doors. Immediately, she lost her balance and fell forward.
“Ah!” Her nose slammed onto a “wall,” but it wasn’t as painful as she thought. NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
A cold voice came from above her head. “Is this your so-called misunderstanding?”
Currently, Angeline’s entire body was in Evander’s embrace. Her hands clambered to his shoulders as she raised her head, meeting his face. The expression on his face was so dark that it looked almost like a black hole.
“No, you really did misunderstand.” She spoke with difficulty because she was out of breath after chasing him. Her leg being stuck in the gap only made things worse.
Holding her shoulders, he didn’t hesitate to peel her away from his embrace.
Angeline stumbled and held on to the elevator door frame before she barely managed to pull her leg out. Sadly, the heel was still stuck in the gap. It was an embarrassing sight of her.
However, she didn’t care about that. Her good upbringing compelled her to apologize for her behavior first. “I’m sorry. I didn’t do it on purpose.”
A clear look of disdain flashed past Evander’s dark eyes. “I didn’t expect you to use this kind of cliché scenario, Ms. Sorelle. You sure are relentless.”
“Scenario?” Angeline’s eyebrows furrowed. Then she quickly realized what he meant by that. “You think I’m doing this on purpose? I only came here because of the spokesperson position for Starlight Jewelry —”
“All brands under Golding Group, including Starlight Jewelry, will never collaborate with you, Ms. Sorelle,” he directly cut her off and used a Burberry’s checkered handkerchief to wipe his hands.
Then he threw the handkerchief into a trashcan in front of her.
“Wait, I only learned about the collaboration last night. What did I—”
“Step back,” Evander requested.
Subconsciously, Angeline stepped backward and watched as the elevator doors closed. His emotionless, icy face promptly disappeared from her sight.
It wasn’t until the doors were shut tight that she returned to her senses. Then, her insides began churning with fury. Who does he think he is? Does he think I’m trying to seduce him? How can someone be that narcissistic?
As she returned the way she came, she cursed him in her heart, completely unaware of the phone hidden behind a giant pot of plants at the corner of the corridor that was filming her.
A vintage-style three-story mansion sat inside the well-known and quiet private estate valued at ten billion in the Eastern District of Hallsbay.
It was located behind a lush green lawn and fountain and was surrounded by roses.
The balcony on the second floor, which was facing south, had pink roses growing on it.
A little girl in a white princess dress was sitting in the sun on the pink swing couch with a laptop lying on her knee. On the screen was a list of what was trending on Twitter. Her pink cartoon slippers were embedded with a blue gem shining brightly under the sunlight.
The five-year-old Floretta only knew how to read a few words. Aside from the word “Angeline,” she basically had no idea what the media was saying. As she swung her legs happily, she scrolled through all sorts of pictures.
Her hand stopped when she saw a particular picture before she zoomed into the building behind Angeline. Huh? That place looks so familiar! Isn’t that Daddy’s company?
