Chapter 30
Chapter 30
" He left without ordering anything?" Sofia stood next to me as Xander left the dinner.
" You? Why are you supporting him? I'm trying so hard to forget him."
" I'm on the right side. I know how much you loved him and now you are backing off because of the memory loss and his planned wedding. Why can't you fight for him?"
" I'm afraid something wrong will happen. Nothing comes easy in my life. Or won't come at all. I don't want to feel heartbroken in the end."
" You are imagining a lot of worse situation. I can't change you unless you change your mind," Sofia left me with those words and I got back to work without letting her words deep inside my mind.
When we both reached home, Xander messaged me. Finally, he got my number too.
Xander: Hey, babe. Are you back home?
Me: I think you wrongly texted me. I'm not your babe
Xander: Oh, but this is my babe's number and she is the one who's holding the phone.
Me: If you are trying to change my mind, it's not working.
Xander: It will work. Sooner or later. I will wait for it.
I typed and erased, typed and erasing. I'm not sure of what I should type. I don't want him to marry Veronica and his memory loss is the only thing that keeping me from changing my mind. I locked the phone and slept.
.....
" What are you looking for?" Sofia asked me as I kept on staring at all the customers.
" Nothing. Just going to serve this coffee," I told her, getting out of my non-stop thoughts. Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
" Nothing? Do you want me to believe it? I know you are waiting for Xander to come here." She simply said with a grin.
" No, I'm not. Are you imagining stupid things?" I firmly said and got to do the works. The whole ended in a flash and there's no sign of Xander in the dinner.
Maybe it's good for both of us.
Now, it's already 10:00 pm and literally, all customers left. All other workers have left the dinner to expect the owner. Sofia and I have to finish cleaning the plates and we can leave.
" I feel like we are alone here. Where's the owner? Are we the last person leaving the dinner." I asked Sofia, almost finished cleaning all the plates.
" He said he will be back in some minutes. He didn't say where he went. When he's back, we can leave. I'm so tired of this job. Maybe I should wait outside for his arrival." She said, leaving the kitchen.
The silence and the darkness from the window are kinda scaring me. I finished my work and stood facing the table and the few leftover vegetables in it.
I waited and waited lost in thoughts. Suddenly, I felt someone's hands on my waist. I screamed and before I could turn, the voice spoke.
" Hey, it's me," I heard Xander's voice as my body relaxed. What is he doing here? I expected him to see me as a customer, not inside the kitchen.
" Who? You should probably say your name,"
" You know who? Your boyfriend?" He said, leaning his head down and kissed my neck.
" You shouldn't be here, Xander. The owner hasn't left the dinner yet. And Sofia's outside the dinner. Didn't you see her?" I questioned him while I let him kiss me.
" Yeah, I saw her. She looked mad looking at her watch and waiting for someone. I sneaked inside before she can spot me. Fortunately, you are still here,"
" That's good that you find me. Now, leave before I get fired again,"
" Maybe you should resign and stay with me. You don't need to work hard." He said, gently touching my lower lip with his hand. No, no, no. I should stop him.
" You need to leave before someone..." I turned towards and stopped the sentence in half. I don't know what happened next but I'm kissing now. I made the first move.
" I missed this," I whispered, kissing him again.
" Me too. We still have three days. Say 'yes' now, the wedding will be cancelled." He asked me again but I couldn't think about anything but his lips.
" What the...you two can't be making out in the kitchen. The owner's back here. He's already on his way." Sofia freaked out looking back and forth.
" Shit, how are we going to get you out?" I broke the kiss and looked at the window. That's the only option to send Xander out of here.
" It's easy. I will walk out of the kitchen and say 'hi' to the owner," Xander said, taking a step.
" It's not funny, Xander. I will lose my job."
" Yeah and then you will stay with me."
" You need to use the window, Xander. Go, fast," I urged him.
" What if I don't want to go?" He started, opening the windows as slow as he can.
" I want you to go. Come back tomorrow but now leave." I told looking outside the kitchen for any sign of the owner.
" Whether you want it or not, I will come back tomorrow. How about a kiss? Will you kiss me again tomorrow? I will leave now," He asked, testing Sofia's patience. She's madly looking at us cause her job might even affect her if he doesn't leave.
" Okay, I will try to do whatever you want. Now, leave,"
" That's a good deal. Bye, babe," He jumped out of the window fastly and got out of our sight. Sofia let out a sigh in relief.
" Thank god, we are not losing our job. Then I know you are going to change your mind one day. Why refusing it now?" Sofia asked me. Does she believe I will change my mind?
Finally, we are back home and the first thing I did was messaging Xander.
Me: Hey, are you back home? I'm afraid if you made it back? I know the jump wasn't that long.
The message was seen the next minute.
Xander: You care about me. There's still a chance for me to change your mind.
Me: Noted. You are safe. Now, bye.
I left the chat without replying to what he said. He's still determined. I'm still trying to be stable in my decision.
