Chapter 13
Chapter 13
Sofia tried to break away from Finley’s clutches, but his grip was so tight that it almost broke her wrist.
She didn’t want to stay here for another moment, especially since she was alone with the man in front of her. Blood oozed from the needle’s tip and dripped onto the back of her hand, and Finley let go of her, his eyes narrowed.
“Sofia, don’t think that you can manipulate me into letting you go with that pitiful face. I was ready to let you go three years ago, but I didn’t expect you to keep up with your childish antics and come back to me. Don’t you think it’s ridiculous to try to play hard-to-get?”
Sofia’s jaw slackened, and she looked incredulously at Finley.
He thought she was trying to seduce him?
She laughed bitterly. Avoiding him was futile, but how could he think she was playing hard to get?
She took a deep breath, her head feeling like it was about to split open, and slowly moved off the sofa, simply ignoring Finley and his ridiculous words.
Sofia brushed against him on her way to the door and hadn’t gone more than a few steps when Finley pulled her back, forcing her to face him.
This time, Finley exerted his strength, his fury apparent. Sofia was forced to sit on his knee as Finley tipped her chin
to force her to look at him.

Those eyes of hers were beautiful, only they no longer had the lovely spirit they had before and looked gray and desperate.
Finley exhaled a breath and leaned into Sofia’s ear. There were words that he didn’t want to say, but he still said them. This woman had driven him crazy.
“Do you hate me that much?”
Sofia looked steadily at the cold, unfeeling face in front of her and didn’t reply.
Finley sneered. “It’s been three years, and you haven’t matured a bit. You can hate me if you want to,” He said through gritted teeth, holding Sofia’s jaw. “But it was your father who killed my family. You are paying for his actions.”
Sofia was surprised. When Finley sent her to prison three years ago, she knew her family regretted their actions towards the Stewarts, but she didn’t know the reasons behind it.
Now, Finley had revealed that her father had killed his family. Her mind was rattled, and she felt a profound sense of helplessness.
If he had told her that three years ago, she might have been heartbroken, but now she felt numb.
Sofia locked eyes with Finley. “I’ve heard Daisy say…”
Finley raised an eyebrow, not understanding how she was
making the conversation so erratic.

“I was already in jail when Daisy told me about it. She visited me from time to time,” Sofia clarified. “My dad jumped from the twenty-eighth floor, and the coroners were appalled by the body. Daisy said that the clean-up crew had a hard time and used shovels to scoop up his remains.”
Finley’s demeanor changed at her words.
Sofia seemed like she was talking about a stranger. The tone of her voice was deadpan, and it bothered Finley, a man who was known for his indifference and lack of sympathy.
“Daisy later gave me my father’s ashes. It was such a small box that I wondered what part of him was actually cremated.”
“He was a renowned businessman in New York for more than twenty years, and when he was alive, everyone honored him as The Mr. Campbell. But he ended up as a bloodstain on the pavement. So even if you still think that the
Campbells owe you, you’re wrong. My father has paid you back.”
“Hahaha….” Sofia suddenly laughed out loud, revealing her first heartfelt smile since she got out of prison, but it made Finley’s heart pound.
Sofia slowly raised her hand and caressed Finley’s furrowed brows. It had been three years, but his face was still the
same.
“Finley…you were never really in love with me, right?”

Finley felt his breath shorten, his hand trembling at his side. The bright smile on Sofia’s scarred face made him feel a sense of unease, almost fear.
This was the real Sofia, the Sofia he once knew, instead of the broken girl who had knelt at his feet.
Sofia Campbell was proud at heart. But this time, her pride was becoming Finley’s fatal attraction.
He stopped breathing.
Sofia’s cold fingers cupped his cheek as she whispered, “Finley, I want to thank you for the first encounter we had seven years ago and the four years we spent acting as a couple. I also want to thank you for showing me the true meaning of cruelty.”
“You’re right. I do hate you. I’d rather sleep with every man in the world than stay with you for a moment. But I didn’t expect that you would actually love me.”
Finley was stung hard by Sofia’s laughter and gritted hist teeth. “You have a death sentence, Sofia.”
He leaned down, pulled her entire body towards him, and fiercely kissed her lips. He was in a thick web of punishment, self-blame, and hatred that seemed impossible to escape from.
Sofia desperately pushed him away, and he ripped her dress open, sinking his teeth in her collarbone, tasting blood.
Sofia laughed so hard she couldn’t breathe, and Finley couldn’t do it anymore. Even though he desired her right
then and there, he let her go.

“Get out!” Finley grabbed Sofia, dragged her to the door, and forcefully pushed her out.
The door slammed shut with a resounding thud, separating Finley and Sofia’s two different worlds.
Sofia held onto the wall, panting and gasping for hair, her eyes dancing with mockery.
She knew how proud Finley was and that this was the only way to get rid of him. She would shatter Finley’s pride and make him utterly repulsed by her. He would never want to touch her again.
When they were both studying abroad, she had met Finley at an off-campus event. It was as if fate had struck her. He had been the only other American in their class, and it made her feel less alone in a foreign country.
One way or another, he lured her into his trap, and she was caught in his web, unable to escape.
Ironically, the one who set the trap ended up getting entangled in the web of love themselves.
Sofia clutched her cramping stomach, hunching over as she kept laughing. Her state lasted for a while until she finally calmed down.
Sofia had offended Finley to the extreme, likely leading to his desire to remove her from his life. Despite that, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret, considering the potential impact it might have on Daisy.

Sofia found herself unsure of where she could find employment after leaving Charming Bar alongside Daisy.
Suddenly, the sound of hurried footsteps and the distinct noise of high heels echoed from the direction of the elevator.
A woman was coming to Finley’s room. It surprised her since Finley wasn’t a man who kept many women around.
Feeling the need to avoid being seen by others in her current state, Sofia quickly lowered her head and pressed herself against the wall, intending to make a discreet exit. But, a pretty figure stopped Sofia in her tracks.
“It’s you…”
She noticed distinct silver half-heeled Mary Janes adorned with rhinestones, accompanied by the gentle swish of a silk light blue dress. The dress, though subtly designed, exuded an air of elegance with its luxurious material and graceful drape.
The woman had long hair adorned with a simple four-leaf clover hairpin on the side. Sofia noticed that the hairpins had a few diamonds on them, and she could only guess that they were worth a thousand each.
The outfit was similar to how Sofia dressed before she was imprisoned. It exuded intellect and beauty but also made her look pure and innocent.
But it was Ellie who wore the dress, and it caught Sofia off guard.

Ellie wasn’t in a wheelchair this time and deliberately dressed like Sofia. She stared at her, looking at that young, lovely face turning pale and ugly with resentment.
It seemed like Bella had told Ellie the news about Sofia’s release and her employment at Finley’s Charming Bar.
As Ellie arrived at the Charming Bar with the intention of seeking out Finley, she was taken aback to find Justin, Finley’s assistant, stationed nearby. The expression on Justin’s face hinted at the presence of another woman in Finley’s room.
She was heartbroken for a moment since Ellie was supposed to be engaged to him soon. But she wanted to see what kind of woman would catch Finley’s eyes. Turns out it was none other than Sofia Campbell.
“Sofia, what were you doing in Finley’s room?” Ellie grabbed Sofia’s arm, digging her fingernails into her skin. Her eyes landed on Sofia’s torn dress.
Finley had ripped the fabric to shreds and had bitten her collarbone. All of his cruel intentions were made clear.
But Sofia’s appearance made Ellie’s heart sink into the abyss. Her eyes narrowed with murderous intent.
