The next morning, Debra’s phone vibrated on the bedside table.
Thinking it was the alarm, she picked it up and saw several missed call notifications.
These calls were from Juan, Joe, Ralph, and Marion,
Debra had a sense of foreboding.
She called Juan back, but he rejected her call.

She went on to call Ralph, who answered quickly with an angry voice. “Debra! Where did you go last night?
“Me? Hung out with my classmates,” Debra replied.
“Did you go to a nightclub?” Ralph asked.

Her mind raced. She wondered if it was Jordan’s doing, but it didn’t make sense.
‘It wouldn’t benefit him, so it couldn’t be him. Then who?
Just then, Marion’s call came in.
Debra answered, trying to sound calm. “Are you calling because of what’s trending?”
