Chapter 853 Worried About Edward
Phoebe had been restless all day. In the afternoon, she attended a meeting at the TV station with Mary, and they came out of the conference room together.
Mary noticed her pale face and asked, "What's wrong? During the meeting, I saw you constantly checking your phone and looking distracted."
Phoebe pinched the bridge of her nose, "Maybe I didn't sleep well last night."
Mary leaned in closer and saw the dark circles under her eyes. She laughed, "You do look like you didn't sleep well. I was planning to have dinner with you tonight, but let's reschedule."
"It's fine, I can still have dinner," Phoebe quickly said.
Mary was a senior in the entertainment industry, more experienced than Phoebe. There were many things Phoebe needed to humbly ask her about.
"There's a good restaurant nearby. Let's have Mexican food. You don't mind spicy food,
do you?" Mary had something to discuss with Phoebe, so she readily agreed.
"No, I love spicy food, and so does Cindy," Phoebe said with a smile.
Mary raised an eyebrow, "Cindy?"
"Yes, Ms. Watson, do you know her?"
"Of course, I do. When she first became a beauty blogger, I noticed her unique appearance and thought she could make it big in the entertainment industry. I offered her an opportunity, but she didn't accept."
Phoebe was a bit surprised that someone as prominent as Mary knew Cindy. she said, "Cindy mentioned being scouted but didn't know it was you who wanted to sign her. She might regret it now."
Mary laughed heartily, "A blessing in disguise. She now has her own studio and is doing quite well, not any worse than if she had joined the entertainment industry." They chatted as they walked and soon arrived at the nearby Mexican restaurant. Savory Delights was located on the busiest street in Kedora, with a classical decor. The entire hotel had a rustic and pure design, providing a quiet retreat in the bustling area.
However, upon entering the Mexican restaurant, the various chili aromas immediately awakened their taste buds.
Mary had reserved a table in advance. They sat on one side of the hall, with the autumn scenery outside the window and the evening lights reflecting the sunset, creating a great atmosphere.
Mary started, "The intangible cultural heritage variety show will start filming next month. Noah is wrapping up at the end of this month, right?"
Phoebe pinched the bridge of her nose, "Speaking of that, it's giving me a headache. Recently, the Vanderbilt Group has been under investigation, and several projects they invested in have been halted. Both Noah and Claire are affected."
Mary had heard some news before. "So what now? Just wait?"
"Yes, there's no other way. The crew can't afford the delay, costing tens of thousands of dollars a day. The director has called me several times, asking me to find a solution," Phoebe said, feeling troubled.
Mary lowered her voice, "Is the Vanderbilt Group's issue serious?"
"I'm not sure. The economic investigation team is reviewing it, and the funds are frozen. If it doesn't go well, the crew might have to stop indefinitely," Phoebe said, not exaggerating. Once an investigation was involved, it couldn't be resolved quickly.
Mary suggested, "How about finding another investor? The Spring Island script is top- notch, with a famous screenwriter involved. If it airs, it will definitely be a hit, and Noah's popularity will rise to another level."
Phoebe nodded, "Yes, I'll try to find a way."
While Phoebe and Mary were having dinner, she received a message from Theodore,
saying he would come to pick her up after work.
She sent him a picture of the food.
Theodore's message quickly followed.
S: [Where are you, and who are you with?]
Phoebe glanced at Mary and sent a message back to Theodore. Another message came in quickly.

S: [You guys eat, I'll wait outside. Let me know when you're done.]
Phoebe was taken aback, her lips curling into a smile. Mary noticed and was momentarily dazzled by her smile, "Who messaged you to make you so happy?" "It's Theodore," Phoebe said.
Mary smiled knowingly, "You two are getting back together, aren't you?"
Phoebe just smiled, and they soon moved on to other topics. After dinner, it was already past eight, and they paid the bill and left.
Outside, the city lights were just coming on. As they exited the Mexican restaurant, they saw a black Maybach parked by the roadside. In the night, the car's sleek body stood out, and Theodore was leaning against it.
Mary smiled warmly at Phoebe, "If I had known, I wouldn't have invited you to dinner and interrupted your date. Go on."
Phoebe waved at her and jogged over to Theodore, "Have you been waiting long?"
Theodore looked up at her, glancing at Mary in the distance. He nodded at her and opened the passenger door, "Get in."
"I'll drive. Your hand is injured," Phoebe said.
Theodore glanced at his left hand, "It's fine. I can drive. Get in, I'll take you somewhere."
"Okay." Phoebe bent down and got into the passenger seat. As the door closed, she watched Theodore walk around the car. His suit pants hugged his muscular long legs, making him look sexy and handsome.
It wasn't until the car dipped slightly as Theodore got in that Phoebe snapped out of her thoughts, realizing what she had been thinking. Her face immediately turned red. Theodore glanced at her and suddenly leaned in.

Theodore slowly approached, and just when she thought he was going to kiss her, he reached for the seatbelt and clicked it into place.
Phoebe quickly opened her eyes and watched Theodore sit back in the driver's seat. She let out a small sigh, feeling a bit disappointed.
Theodore started the car, "How did you end up going out with Mary?"
"We had a meeting at the TV station, and it was dinner time, so we went out to eat together. Have you eaten? Do you want to find a place to eat, and I'll join you?" Phoebe asked.
Theodore glanced at her, "Can you still eat?"
"I can watch you eat," Phoebe replied smoothly.
"No need. I can't eat if you're watching me," Theodore said, his tone carrying a hint of subtle resentment.
Phoebe closed her mouth, thinking for a moment, "By the way, I wanted to ask you something. How long does an economic investigation usually take?"
Theodore frowned, "Worried about the Vanderbilt Group?"
Phoebe didn't expect him to be so sharp. She said, "Donovan and I grew up with the Vanderbilt family. They've treated us well. I'm just asking. Can you not overreact?" "Are you worried about the Vanderbilt family or just Edward?"noveldrama
Phoebe pursed her lips and looked out the window. Arguing about this would only make things worse.
The car fell into silence. Theodore occasionally glanced at Phoebe but didn't say anything to make the situation more awkward.
Half an hour later, the car stopped. Phoebe turned her head and saw the brightly lit amusement park outside the window.
What do you think?
