Firework 12
Jared was asleep in the bed, while Georgia was in a chair, holding his hand. It looked like she had fallen asleep from exhaustion or something else.
I smirked, immediately thinking it was another one of George’s cheap tricks.
“Olivia… I didn’t expect it to be like this. I didn’t even know Georgia was here,” George stammered, trying to explain.
I sneered, “That’s fine. Clearly, it’s not me he needs. Thanks for making that clear.”
George‘ s expression was something I could not explain, but I did not care anymore and wanted to go
away.
He followed me and insisted, “Trust me, it’s your name he calls in his sleep,”
“Even so, Georgia is the one he needs beside him,” I retorted sharply before leaving him.
George’s frustration was clear behind me, but it was not my problém.
As I was leaving the hospital, I unexpectedly ran into Thomas. He was on his way in. Spotting me, he greeted, “Olivia, I’m glad you came to visit Alpha Jared. I wanted to tell you, but I remembered you asked me not to yesterday.”
“You did the right thing, Thomas. Thanks. I wasn’t here to visit him after all. I don’t care if he gets sick or even dies,” I replied, trying to keep my tone steady.
It was a lie, of course. Even Serena grumbled in my head, knowing the truth.
But I couldn’t admit to Thomas how foolish I felt for believing George’s words and coming to see Jared. I needed to save face.
Thomas looked shocked; his expression filled with concern. He tried to explain more, “Olivia, you should know… last night was really bad. I just got back from Promise High and found Alpha Jared in a terrible state. I didn’t expect things to get this bad.”
“Thomas, I told you not to tell me anything, didn’t I? Anyway, I’m heading back.”
Before I could turn away, Thomas quickly said, “Olivia, want to hang out for a bit? There’s a café nearby with great desserts. You should try them.”
I hesitated at first, but I thought some comfort food might help my upset feeling, so I nodded and followed him.
“This is one of my favorite cafés in town. I’m kind of a regular here,” Thomas said as he opened the door for me.
“Really? I wonder why you come here so often, Thomas,” I teased as we entered.
But when I saw the café owner, a beautiful young woman, I couldn’t resist teasing him more after we ordered our drinks and desserts. What was more, there were no signs of mating on his neck which indicated her to be a single werewolf.
“So, she’s the real reason you come here, right?” I joked after we finished our order and walked to empty seats.
Thomas avoided eye contact, clearly flustered. I knew he was feeling awkward.
“Come on, spill the beans,” I encouraged after sitting in our seats. Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Awkwardly, he explained, “There’s nothing between us. I’m just a customer, and she’s the café owner.” “Alright, I won’t push you. But she’s pretty, seems nice, and suits you,” I said with a playful smile. Suddenly, Thomas took my hand, which was resting on the table, and confessed, “Did you know that I used to like you?”
I smiled, thinking he was joking. “Don’t tease me like that. It’s not funny.”
“But I’m serious. I’ve loved you for a long time, maybe even before we entered Promise High.”
