“I will be at your service any and anytime, I’ll be your right hand always” This must be some kind of joke, I will never accept that this is my fate, I can’t be locked up like this, I still didn’t answer the oblivious girl standing at my door, she went on to say “only if you find me worthy of-” I cut her short in annoyance. “Do you know what I want?”

Janet shook her head slowly and I replied “I need a way out of here”

I won’t be able to see my family members, I am stuck here all because of a man, A man I don’t even know, After a few minutes, My eyes had already gotten swollen from the number of tears I had shed, I was already tired of crying, I heard a knock on the door and I sprung up, It has to be Carson this time, I got prepared to give him a piece of my mind but when the door opened I was Janet again.

“You again?” I asked in surprise, I was taken aback, considering what had just happened a few minutes ago.

“Yes ma’am” With her head still facing the floor Janet replied.

“What do you want” I said as calmly as possible, it wasn’t her fault I was in this situation, and I shouldn’t blame her.

“Do you mind having a bath ma’am?” Janet said with her head lowered down, Before I could reply an elderly woman came into my room. She had gray hair. She wore a long skirt with a matching top and a belt at the middle of her waist, I could tell her presence was fierce because I could see Janet becoming tense again.

“Welcome madam, I am Shanice, and I am the head of workers in this mansion,” The elderly woman said respectfully.

“Okay” I simply said, I could see her face twisting negatively. But she hid it in a split second and went ahead to ask me about Janet.

“This will be your maid, She will be tending to your needs,” Shanice said

“I don’t need one thank you” I replied in the most polite way I could, Even after being in such a distraught situation, I still tried to remain as respectful and as calm as I possibly could.

“Please understand that this is the instruction given,” Shanice said hastily, I could already hear the tone of impatience in her voice

“By who?” I said, not ready to give in to whatever they wanted

“By sir” Shanice replied

“Tell sir I do not care, now leave me be,” I said at this point I was already losing my cool.

“But-” Shanice tried to speak but I hushed her up quickly

“But nothing, now leave,” I said, turning my face away from her. When I heard the door close I turned around and saw Janet still standing there but this time she had a smile on her face, it was subtle but easily seen.

I’m sure she was smiling at the way I treated Shanice, why else would she be smiling? She seemed like a lovely girl but I don’t plan on staying long enough to get to know her.

“Why are you still here?” I asked Janet who stopped smiling immediately when she heard my voice.

“I’m here to tend to your needs, ma’am,” Janet said respectfully.

“You have been saying that, say something else” I already knew what she was told to do, It was already tiring, She looked confused.

“Shall I make the bath ready for you?” Janet asked innocently

“You can leave now” I dismissed her, She turned and left and I sat on the bed, soliloquizing. I was in deep thought, Looking for ways to leave this harsh reality, Exhaustion crept in and I slowly closed my eyes and drifted into sleep unknowingly, I was so tired from the wailing, that I was deep into sleep when I felt a lingering feeling around me, My heart was pounding and I was in distress, I snapped open my eyes and I found nothing looming around the darkness of my room, I pondered about the possibility of having the stranger that put me in this condition in my room I stayed up for a while before I fell asleep again and the silence continued, I felt a cold breeze on my shoulder, I immediately opened my eyes.
