Ex Cried as I Wed a Tycoon

Chapter 458

Effie said, "Fidelia, not even for ten times the price?"

Fidelia shook her head. "Sometimes you have to stand your ground. I'm not selling."

Effie smirked. "Fair enough. You can't put a price on what you truly love. I doubt anyone would really pay twenty times more for this stuff anyway. It's not like she's actually that rich."

At this, Suzan's face fell. She bristled.

"Effie, do you think I'm broke like you? Money isn't an issue for me."

Effie grinned. "Oh please, I heard your little niece just now. You're using your uncle's credit card, not your own."

Suzan's eyes flickered. She bit her lip and snapped, "What's it to you?"

"Fine. Twenty times the price. Are you selling or not?" Suzan said, refusing to back down.

Effie shrugged. "Sure, why not?"

"No way!" Fidelia glared at Effie, jaw clenched in anger.

She couldn't believe Effie-if she wasn't going to help her, she could at least not make things worse.

Effie leaned in and whispered, "Let her have it. We'll get her back for this."

A spark of excitement flickered in Fidelia's eyes. She met Effie's gaze and instantly understood what she meant.

Fidelia turned to Suzan, raising an eyebrow. "Effie, are you serious? Just because she says twenty times, you believe she can actually pay? I'll believe it when I see it."noveldrama

"Oh, I can pay!" Suzan snapped. She hated being underestimated more than anything.

She pulled out her phone. "Show me your payment code."

Fidelia was ready. She whipped out her phone and held up the payment screen.

Suzan hesitated for a split second. That was way too fast. Was this a trick?

Fidelia smirked. "What's wrong? Afraid to pay? Can't afford it? If not, I'm leaving."

"Suzan!" Teresa shot her a sharp look.

Suzan faltered. Honestly, she hadn't expected Fidelia to actually go through with it. Her own impulsiveness had gotten the better of her But with Teresa glaring at her, she had no choice but to hand over the money.

A cheerful chime sounded-payment successful.

Fidelia waved her phone in Suzan's face with a triumphant smile. "Well, thank

you. Appreciate your generosity."

Just then, Shirley came in from

outside. “Hey, I found the same surprise boxes at the shop across the street. They had loads. I picked one up right away." fo

Fidelia grinned. "Thanks! What do you want to drink? My treat.”

"I won't say no to that."

"Hold it!" Suzan cried, seeing Effie and the others about to leave. Suddenly, the surprise box in her hand felt scorching hot.

How could she have been so stupid? All because of her pride, she'd just paid a ridiculous price for something worthless.

"Hey! Money for goods. Once it's in my account, there's no refunds," Fidelia told her firmly.

Suzan knew there was no way she'd get her money back.

She let out a cold, bitter laugh. "Just you wait."

Suzan stormed off with Teresa, who muttered under her breath, "Idiot."

Suzan's frustration boiled over. She shouted in anger as they disappeared down the corridor.

Fidelia actually felt a rush of satisfaction. Effie's little plan had really worked.

She turned to Effie, grinning. "Be honest, did you know all along she'd fall for it?”

Effie shrugged, expressionless as ever. "More or less."

Fidelia couldn't help but laugh. She used to find Effie's calm, almost emotionless demeanor annoying, but after spending more time together, she realized-Effie was actually a lot of fun.
