Ethan’s Vengeance of Love

Chapter 118

Chapter 118

Not bad, not bad. That will do! Ethan shared the same notion since he had time to accompany her tomorrow.

Rosy’s face turned slightly grim, for his company to Woland Residence would reveal the truth that they were married. On top of that, Alice promised to keep it a secret.

Rosy was genuinely grateful to her for saving and raising Caroline well. If only she had some strong points, Rosy would have accepted her. However, she could not see any good in Alice. Not only was she disfigured, but she also did so many dumb things for Bruce. She was particularly clueless and lacked skills.

Furthermore, Rosy did a background check on Alice only to discover that she did not graduate from university despite spending seven years in Cliaria. Worst still, she was inexperienced when it came to business, not asking anything related to Woland Group during the past seven years. Now, she was handing over the company to Bruce.

The woman was useless and bound to be Ethan’s blot, according to Rosy’s judgment.

“No.” Alice gave a downright refusal without a second thought.

This isn’t a joking matter. If those shameless Wolands find out that I’ve married Ethan, they will do everything in their power to leech off the Knight Family.

Even if the Woland Family could not take advantage of the Knight Family obtrusively, they were apt in playing dirty by catching one off-guard. Furthermore, they had signed an agreement to keep the marriage a secret.

Since the agreement was Ethan’s suggestion, Lawrence should be oblivious to it. Otherwise, he would not have asked Ethan to accompany her to Charles’ birthday banquet. She figured Ethan would refuse

it even though she did not voice out.

Meanwhile, Ethan’s countenance turned somber. Am I that embarrassing?

Lawrence sighed softly. Why the sour face, son? You should control your emotions in front of your wife. Well, he’s been single for 28 years. Guess I gotta help my poor boy.

He stayed in the parlor after dinner. Once everyone left, he looked at Ethan, who was sitting alone on the couch. “Son, you have to be responsible to your wife. It doesn’t matter why you married her in the first place.”

“I know,” responded Ethan, who was serious about the marriage from the beginning and never took it lightly.

“Are you sure about that? She saved Caroline; we owe her one, and she’s now your wife. You mustn’t let the sense of indebted prevail over others.” Lawrence was an experienced man in business and marital life. Women should be treated with love and care, and it mustn’t be done because of external factors. There should only be one reason—she’s your woman.”

“Dad, I’ve always thought you’re struggling because of Mom’s domineering side. Guess I misunderstood you.” Ethan glanced at Lawrence, surprised by his father’s advice.

“Is your mother domineering?” Lawrence was baffled.

The ever-calm and sharp-tongued—according to Alice—man doubted his judgment for the very first time.

“But Alice is a quiet and gentle girl. You mustn’t bully her.”

Ethan stared at his father, whom he deemed clever and wise. This time, he was questioning his judgment for real. Quiet? Gentle? Is that Alice? Are we talking about the same person?

“Sleeping in separate beds after getting married for so long? Poor guy.” Lawrence looked at his pitiful son. “But you deserve it.”

Judging from Ethan’s character, it would have been weird if he shared a bedroom with Alice.

He was speechless. What the heck? He’s getting on my nerves, yet he’s adding another attack?

“Don’t tell me that every woman is meek and gentle. Alice surpasses everyone out there, so you are the main problem. You gotta acknowledge it. Just think about it.” Lawrence decided to end the topic because it all came down to his son. He should not interfere with someone else’s relationship anyway.

Ethan sat on the couch, deeply absorbed in his thoughts. I’m the problem? Why? Because I can’t make a girl happy? Well… I admit that. Should I learn from someone else?

When Alice headed downstairs the next day, Ethan was already there and stood up upon noticing her. He received consultation from Lawrence and learned something from someone yesterday, so it was time to set it into action.

It was obvious that he dressed up on purpose since he rarely wore suits, but he was in his favorite one.

Now that he was standing, the custom-made suit wrapped his sturdy body perfectly, enhancing his appearance. Wherever he went, all eyes would be on him for sure. No woman could be immune from his dazzling looks unless they were blind.

Meanwhile, a ‘blind’ Alice descended the stairs and spared him a glance, but her gaze did not last for one second before she looked elsewhere. “Caroline, I’m heading out. Listen and behave at home.” She approached Caroline, who was playing with toys, to hug and peck the girl.

At the same time, Ethan merely watched everything in silence. After that, Alice went out without giving him any attention.

“Alice.” He took a deep breath to clear his mind, thinking about the lesson he obtained last night. His teacher emphasized taking the initiative, so he put it to practice by calling her name.

She halted and turned her head at him dubiously. “You’ll be staying home today? Great. You can look after Caroline then.” Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

He pursed his lips into a thin line. Do I look like I’m going to stay home? Who wears a suit at home?

Despite the helplessness, he reminded himself that a real man had to strike the first move. “Are you going to Old Mr. Woland’s birthday banquet? I can tag along.”

Alice stared at him in horror. Yes, horror. Did I hear him right? Did Ethan just say he’s joining the banquet with me? Am I hearing things, or is he out of his mind? Didn’t he want to keep the marriage a secret? Is it because of Lawrence? Yeah, that must be it.

Still, she understood Lawrence’s innocuous intention but could not let her family know of the marriage.
