Enough For Him

I walked out his office with a giant smile on my face. How could I not when my dad gave his full blessing for me to be with her.

Perfect timing too since it’s our anniversary tonight. Waking up this morning I was surprised to see that she had already left for work.

She probably was planning something for later.

I went into the office and worked on a project. My father owned this company, but I was one of the managers and had a good team.Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.

I spotted a coffee already on my desk.

“extra sugar this morning, we’ve got a big day ahead” Emily said walking into the room. Emily was a new partner for the company, and she was a favourite of my father.

“you know I have an assistant to do this for me “I said smiling. I took a few sips groaning at the sweet taste.

I felt her hand on my shoulder “I know but I like doing things for you” she smiles sweetly at me.

Oh boy.

I wasn’t blind to what she wanted. Emily liked me she made that clear. She was a gorgeous blonde that had class, brains and beauty. Her confidence was something I wasn’t used to.

But she knew I was off limits and even though she flirted I had a woman at home.

I spent the day at the office working on my plans, my eyes kept going for my phone waiting for a text or call from Liz, but I didn’t get anything.

Surely, she hadn’t forgotten.

I decided to keep my mind focused and wait until I was back home.

On my way home I bought flowers and chocolates from the store as well as her present. I knew she had her eyes on this beautiful pair of earrings.

I parked in the driveway and headed inside.

“Liz, baby you home” I called out into the hall. No answer.

What was she planning I thought as I walked around the house.

“it’s me Leon” I stepped back seeing my mother sitting with Jayson, our son.

I walked over kissing him on his head.

“where Liz?” I asked her. She kept staring at Jayson avoiding my eyes. Slowly she moved her attention to my arms. The chocolates and flowers tightly in my grasp.

“She had other plans” mom said quickly. I could tell she was not happy at all, but mom has a weak spot for Liz.

Other plans.

“I was going to tell her, but I honestly thought she was planning something for today”

I stared back at mom and Jayson with a blank expression.

Present

I opened up my jewellery collection staring at the pair of earrings. Guilt was what I thought every time I saw these earrings.

I was rubbish at anniversaries. Leon had a habit of remembering every single one. From 1 month, 6months, 1 year to 5 years.

I on the other hand barely remembered and on our 4-year anniversary I came back from an event to see these earrings alongside a small card.

I cried all night.

Normally he would write along card with humour, wit and the kindest words but that day it was the shortest he has ever written for me.

We were reaching the last day that we would be here in Bali. Work was calling both of us and we needed to get back.

Hailey called me last night. You can just imagine how much fun that was. when I told her what Leon asked last night, she full on laughed like someone on crack.

Hailey isn’t as crazy as she used to be, but she won’t hesitate to put Leon in his place any chance she gets.

When I stepped out to meet Leon and Jayson as they were waiting for me, I noticed how his eyes went straight to my ears. I brought my hand up to them.

“you brought them with you” he whispered walking towards me. he pushed my hair back as he stared at the diamonds. A range of emotions was shown in his eyes.

“they’re my favourite pair” I replied to which he smiled brightly.

Leon grabbed my hand and walked to the bus that would take us to the island which we would spend our last day together in Bali. The original plan was to stay at least another two days, but I noticed Leon was getting calls and emails from his office.

He needed to get back.

Leon knelt down before Jayson as we were about to enter. “Now Jayson. I want you to be very careful in there. Its going to be very exciting but you have to hold either mine or mummy’s hand okay” Jayson who couldn’t stop looking around nodded.

He grabbed onto Leon’s hand as we walked into the Ubud monkey forest.

When we walked in you could immediately hear the sound of all the monkeys shouting. I saw a pair of them sitting by the trees.

“look look there’s two there” I said calling Jayson who was hiding behind Leon’s leg.

“come say hello” I said reaching my hand out to Jayson. He stared at my hand looking up at Leon for support. He slowly moved out and walked towards me. I lifted him in my arms.

I grabbed a small fruit from the basket that they gave us on entering and held it out.

One of the monkeys climbed up on the tree right next to us.
