Chapter 94
Natasha nodded as she listened to Zachary. Back then, things at Foster Group had been far from great.
Foster Group was still finding its footing when she was with Matthew.
But in just a few short years, Zachary had managed to bring the group back to its glory. Natasha couldn't help but admire him for it.
Since the administrative building was a bit of a walk, the two of them made small talk along the way.
The more Natasha listened, the more she felt that something was amiss. Her eyes wandered to him again, and she couldn't seem to look away.
"What's wrong?" Zachary asked. He felt slightly embarrassed under her gaze.
Natasha came to a stop in front of him. Her eyes were locked onto his. For a moment, neither of them looked away.
Before Zachary could react, Natasha moved quickly and pressed her hand against his abdomen.
Zachary froze, as did the students nearby. The sudden move caught everyone completely off guard.
"What are you doing?" he asked, stunned.
Then, he noticed that she was flushed from her ears to her neck.
"You-I just wanted to say," she stammered. Her mind had gone completely blanknoveldrama
at this point. Zachary raised an eyebrow and bent his head slightly.
Before they knew it, the space between them had disappeared. They were so close that they could almost feel each other's heartbeats and breaths.
"Ms. Bradley," he said in a low voice. "Do you know what comes next after doing something like this in public?"
Natasha was taken aback. She quickly shook her head.
Without another word, Zachary pulled her into his arms. There was a clear difference in both height and build between them.
She was small and delicate in appearance, but her strength shouldn't be underestimated.
Before she could gather her thoughts, she found her back pressed against his chest. She could hear the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
"Come on. We shouldn't keep Professor Stone waiting," he said.
The pair stood side by side as they walked toward Yancy's office.
Natasha still acted like a student. She knocked and waited for permission before stepping inside.
"You two are finally-" Yancy began but stopped mid-sentence. Yancy was stunned by how close the two were to each other.
At that moment, Zachary let go of Natasha. "We ran into a bit of trouble on the way. It's nothing serious," he said smoothly.
While Zachary let go of her with ease, Natasha remained dazed.
"Natasha, take a seat. I need to go over something with you regarding your classes," Yancy said.
Yancy was aware of Natasha's academic ability. After all, Natasha hadn't come back to university just to study. Her main focus was the collaboration with Quentin.
"I submitted a special application to the university for you," Yancy continued. "As long as you pass the exams, you won't have to attend any classes."
Yancy said everything in a rather smug manner. After all, this situation was unprecedented.
"Thank you, Professor Stone. I really appreciate the support," Natasha said sincerely.
Natasha went ahead and completed the required paperwork. Once done, she looked up and noticed Yancy watching her with an oddly attentive expression.
"The school had gone out of its way to accommodate you. Maybe you could return the favor?" Yancy suggested.
"Of course," Natasha replied. "As long as I can do it, I will."
Natasha felt a little flattered. Yancy was an experienced professor. It was rare for someone like him to swallow their pride and ask for help so directly.
"The university wants to host a guest lecture but they just can't seem to get Mr. Anderson to come." As soon as the words left Yancy's lips, Natasha knew exactly what the situation was.
What do you think?
