Chapter 17: The Vow

Alaina's pov

Ever seen an ocean, the waters swallowing the shore everytime, drowning it in it's love and engulfing

it's sorrows, telling that even though it can never mix, it will always leave a beautiful imprint on it.

Seeing Ajax infront of me made me tremble, he was my savior, he saved me that day, he was the one

who was with me every night, that sunkissed golden skin glowed like burning ambers in the faint light,

his hair all dark brown, beautifully unkempt, with features that could bring Adonis to shame, with a few

freckles adorning his cheeks. To say he was handsome was unjustified, he was a god in all his glory.

I couldn't form words when my eyes met his- all merciless and beautifully cold. They softened to the

shade of forests and I could only form a single word.

"Why?"

His features softened while seeing me, it was maybe only a touch for him, maybe just a thing for one

time but for me, it meant the whole world.

When I was a kid going through abuse, it was like an unwritten rule for me- to die in solitude, I had left

all hopes of ever finding a person for me, who would like a girl so vile and tainted?

They would accept me, maybe for my empire, or for this hideous face which may appear not-so-

hideous to some or maybe for this tarnished body. The options were many.

But his oncoming in my life gave me a hope and it was so cruel of him to do that to me.

"You have your information... Laina what happened? " he asked when a stray tear escaped my eye,

wiping it quickly I stood up, trying to leave.

"Why show care to me? why save me? You are here for some purpose ,right?-a big one, why to play

me like a doll?" I said before walking towards the door.

A hand wrapped around my wrist pulling me to a hard, warm chest providing me security from the outer

evils. " Leave me" I protested quite unsure if I really wanted that.

"Shhh, listen to me" his fingers delicately wiped the tears escaping my eyes to which I turned my face

away.

"I played you as a doll huh?" His hot breath whispered in my ear as he twisted my body so that my

back was plastered to his warm smooth chest ,his arms coming around my waist, holding me like I was

fragile flower.

"Have you seen yourself princess? Not a doll, my little treasure, MY doll and I promise the one who

lays a finger on you will prefer the dark depths of molten hell than his life." his vow made my eyes go

wide.

A tender kiss was placed on my shoulder, then on my hair. The action was not for pleasure of bodies, it

was pure like the gardens of Eden, it was a promise, an oath, a feral vow. It was a thing so pure, it

could have been undecipherable if we have been lovers.

"You gave me your word to protect my secret binding it to your pride, today I, Ajax promise you- nobody

will lay a finger on you, little treasure and I bind it with my life" his placed a last kiss just behind my ear,

making me shudder.

"Laina that scar you have....." his voice got grave at the end like that of angel of death."...who gave that

to you-Valace Strom? are there more?" I sucked in a deep breath, gasping for air, slowily lifting my

eyes to meet his.

"No h-he would never- "

His palms engulfed my cheeks "Don't lie Laina, you are playing with fire here, little treasure" though his

voice was soft, his eyes remained feral, primal, lurking in depths of darkness, unable to quench his

bloodthirst.

"The one you saw, there are m-many of them, he did that to me for days, but I will have my revenge, I

won't let him lay another finger on me" his hold on my face tightened with a fraction still being delicate,

those orbs were not filled with anger, right now madness seemed to dance a destructive dance in them,

though I saw a surge of an unknown emotion in them-respect.

"You must be going little one, your father will be worried" he stepped back giving me space just to make

me realise my hands were clammy and trembling.

"What are we Ajax?" I asked, stepping back and gaining my composure and standing with my head

high.

"You are the prey, little one and I am the predator"he smirked.

"There will be a black mustang coming your way Tyler........burn it to ashes" he tightened his hold on

the phone.

"You messed with a Waylon earlier and it was right, but this time you messed with the devil

reincarnated"

Harsh thunderstorms with lightning prevailed outside the Strom palace. Wisps of frosty hail fell down

from the dark clouds which were swirling like a whirpool ,singing a tale of emotions raging inside the

heart of the Strom princess.

She crept up slowly in the dark , her paces calm and placid so not to alert other members, she wasn't

late at home but the person who wanted to kill her was definitely, he was standing in the shadows

watching her arrive safely.

Hatred surgery through Valace Strom, her soft skin iriked him to turn it's illuminating glow to the

crimson of that of scars, which he thought would have always looked perfect on her.

He gritted his teeth and his knuckles tightened to fists when he saw her looking straight towards him in

the dark, she gave him a menacing smile and a flicker of her left hand, a sign and sight to behold-

mercy.

She knew he had send his assassins to eradicate her ethos from this world, she didn't care because

this time she had entrusted her life in his hands- in Ajax's.

She had just seen the assassin's car following her without a worry because it was only Ajax who would

declare that he was the predator and she was her prey and she would accepted it but nobody else

would chase her, they didn't have the power, she was the huntress of Russian Tundra, only she hunts.

She had displayed a satisfactory emotion when a Sonic blast made the black mustang following her, fly

as scrapers of steel.
