Chapter 164
Hector POV
The leaving party for Edmund was already in full swing, Jude was here, staying the night before driving Edmund back tomorrow morning. He didn't need to be here, but I know he is keen to see how Kala has been getting on.
Kaia had been ignoring me by helping Aubrey set up the food and drink for the evening all afternoon. For once I didn't seek her out, I had things to research.
I had spent the entire afternoon researching more on the tales of the white wolf, discovering a similar folk law that seemed to provide more information.
I didn't want to overthink what had happened at training, but it was hard not to.
"You should dance with her." Jude suggests as I watch Kaia from a short distance. She looked sensational in a metallic silver dress that had a low back and a short hem.
"I will, she's happy mingling right now." I groan back at him as I watch her dance in the short dress.
"If you don't ask her to dance, someone else will."
"Who?"Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
"Him." Jude points the top of his beer bottle to one of my warriors that was currently talking to Kaia. His arms were crossed over his chest, showcasing his vast biceps under his tight T-shirt but I wasn't jealous, I knew it was innocently just a pack member talking to his Luna.
"Cut it out, he's just talking to his Luna. They all know she is my mate, they wouldn't..." I stop as his hand goes to her shoulder as he reaches behind her to pass her a glass of wine from the bar area.
A growl resonates within me, maybe I was slightly jealous after all. These were my people...they wouldn't...
"Fuck, he's got balls asking his Luna to dance..." Jude roars with laughter and I want to jab the prick. He was really enjoying this.
"He's not asking her to dance..." I say through clenched teeth. Jude always knew how to wind me up.
"Do you mind if I dance with her then?" Jude asks as he takes a sip of his beer.
"The fuck? No, you aren't dancing with my mate." I growl out at him.
"Then you had better, before some else does."
"Like I said, everyone knows she's the Luna, no one would dare."
"In here maybe...but you can't lock her away here forever. She has her own pack to go back to."
"I've marked her. I know what I am doing Jude."
"Are you sure because you're getting close to friend zoned again. She might friend zone you. She's rejected one mate already, I think this one has the strength to do another. Besides, she can't remember anything.." He whispers into my ear. My strides eat up the length of the dance floor that seems to have formed for the evening judging by pack
members already dancing to the soft music. As I approach the warrior seems to take the hint and excuses himself. Her eyes follow him leaving before she turns and finds me walking towards her.
Her eyes roll into the back of her head at my approach before she masks on that fake smile of hers.
"You scared off my date." She narrows her eyes at me. She was extra frosty this evening. I had thought spending the afternoon with Aubrey might have made her forget about commanding her to shift. "Your date?"
"Young, free and single, me." She playfully jests as she shrugs before reaching behind for another drink.
My wolf didn't like her referring to herself as single or free for that matter.
"Let's make one thing very clear Kaia, you aren't free and single..." Het my aura roll off me, letting her know I meant every word.
All humour leaves her, as she looks up at me, her eyes piercing into my soul.
"Is that so?" She raises an eyebrow at me.
"Yes, that is so, I've marked you..." I let my body engulf her, my wolf pushing forward to remind her she is
ours.
"Until I mark you...it isn't a done deal alpha...remember that." Her hand lands on my chest but her playful backfires as her hand lingers, feg my muscle.
She was infuriating at times. Why couldn't she just trust in the bond, why did she have to fight me back on everything.
Ours eyes remain locked, a threatening rumble rattling from my chest.
"What are you going to do alpha, command me to mark you. Take all my choices away." She tiptoes up, her lips now close to my jawline.
"The sooner you realise Luna, there is a fine line between fate and choice. It just dpends on which side
you
wish to be." My jaw tenses and her eyes flash with anger.
"Alpha?"
"What?" I tut through the mind-link to a pack member that interrupted my moment with Kala. I made it very clear not to disturb me tonight unless it was important. "I have the Beta from the Amber Desert pack at the gates."
""Beta Zane?"
"Yes Alpha. What do you want me to do? He says it's urgent."
A snarl escapes me as I cut the link, the pack members discreetly moving away from me. But not Kaia, she remains glaring up at me.
This had better be good to make me step away from her challenging behaviour.
