Dear Ex-wife Marry Me

Chapter 104

Compared to Samuel’s booth, this one had a more serious vibe. It was their regular spot, decorated in

lan’s preferred style.

The building was owned by the Raymond family who happened to have their fingers in a lot of pies.

Most of the famous buildings in Greenfield were their properties. Ian glanced out of the window. He

frowned, would that woman really like this kind of stuff?

Tyler slapped Fitch on the shoulder, “Fitch, you might not know this, but Penny likes lan. Last time at

the casino, she threw a billion bucks my way just to impress lan. I mean, a billion dollars!”

lan frowned, shutting him up.

“Let’s start eating.”

Tyler said, “What, you’re uncomfortable that a woman who likes you is being pursued by others now?”

Tyler was quite pleased with Maja. Her face and figure were the crème de la crème in Greenfield. She

was light years ahead of Carlene.

“lan, since you don’t like that wife of yours, why don’t you try dating Penny? Are you really gonna wait

for Carlene to come back? She left to pursue her dreams, and you both were so stubborn back then.”

Fitch coughed, signaling Tyler to zip it. Realising he had said too much, Tyler immediately picked up his

glass and took a sip to cover it up.

Right at that moment, lan’s phone rang. Across the wall, Maja’s phone did too.

After a glance at her phone, she told Samuel, “Sorry, I gotta go. I’d appreciate it if you could keep my

relationship with lan under wraps.”

Samuel wasn’t the type to poke his nose into others‘ business. Hearing her tone, it seemed she didn’t

have any lingering feelings for lan, which surprised him. It was one thing for lan to not like such a

beauty, but Maja seemed to not care about lan at all?

Though it hurt his pride to admit, lan was the cream of the crop among the men in Greenfield, both in

terms of lineage and looks.

And Maja didn’t see that?

These two were à real head–scratcher.

Maja was already out of the booth with her phone. The door to the next booth opened, and out came

lan.

They locked eyes for a moment before answering their calls.

Maja’s call was from Tricia, saying Neil’s condition had taken a turn for the worse and he was back in

the emergency room. Maja furrowed her brow, wasn’t it said that his condition had stabilized?

“Maja, lan’s assistant just came by, brought some stuff and said some things. Father seems a bit

agitated.”

Maja’s face darkened, and she immediately pressed the elevator button.

lan also entered the elevator. Due to an urgent overseas conference call, he had to rush back to the

Raymond Group.

The two entered the elevator together. Ian smelled a faint whiff of alcohol on Maja. It seemed the

alcohol was starting to kick in, making her cheeks a bit flushed. Maja turned to him and asked, “Mr.

Raymond, you heading to the first floor too?” NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.

lan nodded, standing tall. His handsome face was devoid of warmth, his silhouette resolute and aloof.

Maja wanted to know whether her father’s sudden deterioration was caused by something

inappropriate lan’s assistant had said. But lan himself wasn’t the kind to belittle people like Selena, he

would probably just give a warning at most.

She began to wonder if she had done something recently to upset the Raymond family, so much so

that lan had his assistant come to her, and wouldn’t even let it go when her father was hospitalized.

Maja frowned deeply, feeling mentally exhausted by this marriage. Her phone rang again, still Tricia.

Just as she was about to answer, the elevator gave a sudden lurch. Before she could react, it was

plunged into darkness. Her phone dropped to the floor. She bent down to pick it up, but due to the

pitch–darkness, her hand met a patch of cold fabric.

“Stay still.”

lan’s voice was somewhat softer. He pulled her towards him, helped her hold onto the handrail, and

rapidly pressed all the buttons on the elevator panel. This was the correct response in case of an

elevator emergency. They were in a high–rise, and a fall could cause severe injuries.

Maja no longer moved, her body tense, obviously a bit scared. Ian had just instinctively taken action,

and only realized how close they were when he came back to his

senses.

Her faint scent was especially prominent in the darkness, coupled with her quickened breathing due to

nervousness, created a tense atmosphere as if they were on the brink of life and death

It was like having a romantic picnic on the edge of a cliff – dangerous, but also incredibly tempting.
