CHAPTER 14

A RUDE MAN

“Mr. Lexi, doesn’t that mean you always take what you want towards me? I am also human, even what you have forcibly taken from me is priceless, it cannot be replaced with your one billion!” Jessica answered in between sobs.

“What did you say Jessica?” Lexi heard Jessica’s answer. He felt guilty, slowly his lust disappeared.

“I told you, sir, it can’t be replaced with anything!” Jessica took her head up as if against Lexi who had always humiliated her.

Lexi grabbed Jessica’s arm, pulling it roughly, to very close. “Listen to me, I will never let you go. To the end of the world or to hell, I assure you. I’ll get you again Jessica! You’re mine!” Lexi firmly gripped Jessica’s arm stronger than ever.

“Oh, it hurts!” Jessica screamed. “Please let go,” Jessica whispered, trying to get out of Lexi’s hand.

Seeing Jessica in pain, Lexi immediately let his hands go off from Jessica.

Jessica gently rubbed Lexi’s finger marks, trying to ease the pain.

She looked to the left. On the desk, there were pieces of fruit along with the knife. Jessica grabbed the knife. “I– I- I’d rather die than live with a crazy man like you!” Jessica was threatening while holding a knife to her left chest.

Seeing what Jessica was doing, Lexi gasped. He got up and tried closer to Jessica.

“Don’t be stupid, Jess!” Lexi persuaded to walk up to the girl. He would grab the knife from Jessica’s hand.

“Don’t come any closer, or soon this knife will drive me to hell!” Jessica was desperate. She’s the victim, but Lexi intimidated and cornered her. She had no choice in her own life path.

“Let it go of Jessica!” Lexi shouted. Looking at the knife and Jessica’s towel opened of her body, it reminded Lexi of that dark night. The night where Lexi found his late wife who had been stretched stiff in the bathtub.

Lexi’s was breathing hardly, the shadow of the night flashed through his mind. Jessica who kept threatening him, she wanted to kill herself.

Without thinking, Lexi, who didn’t want the bad thing to happen again, tried to forcefully snatch the knife from Jessica’s hand

The knife accidentally stabbed into Lexi’s stomach cause Lexi was pulling with all its might the knife from Jessica’s hand.

Blood came out of his stomach. Fresh blood soaked Lexi’s blue shirt. The man bit his lip in pain.

“Mr. Lexi!” Jessica shouted. She was shocked because she didn’t expect the knife to hurt Lexi’s body. She was being closer and grabbed Lexi’s body which almost fell.

A moment before being unconscious, Lexi smiled towards Jessica. Only he knew what that smile meant.

Jessica, Mrs. Anna, and Mr. Samuel were sitting in front of surgery room. Lexi was still in there. It had been about thirty minutes that the man was inside.

Jessica’s hands are tied, still full of bloodstains. She was worried that something would happen to Lexi.

“Jessica, what really happened?” Mrs. Anna asked. She wasn’t sure if Jessica was trying to hurt Lexi. It was doubtful that Lexi hurt himself.

Jessica was silent. She was scared.

“Tell me, take it easy I won’t scold you!” She persuade her again. She took Jessica’s hand and reassured her.

“Earlier, Mr. Lexi tried to take the knife from me Ma’am, then the knife injured it,” Jessica answered. “Madam, I really didn’t mean to,” Jessica regretted with tears in her eyes.

“You don’t have to cry, that’s okay, Lexi will be fine. The doctor said, the wound is not too deep,” Mrs. Anna tried to make her not to cry anymore. Seeing the situation in the room earlier, Jessica who was still wearing towel pajamas and Lexi in a shirt with all the buttons opened, it was predictable what happened before Lexi was stabbed by a knife.

Jessica still felt guilty.

“Now you go home first Jessica, let me and my husband wait for Lexi, you have to rest. Also you have to wipe off that blood stain on your hands, ” Mrs. Anna persuaded. She wiped the tears slowly from the corners of Jessica’s eyes.

“No Ma’am, let me stay here. At least, after the surgery is over and I make sure Mr. Lexi is okay,” Jessica was begging.

“Well, now you change clothes and clean yourself,” Mrs. Anna said, she couldn’t bear to see Jessica who was still covered in blood.

“Okay, Ma’am.” Jessica grabbed her change of clothes, then went to the toilet.

In the waiting room, there were only Mr. Samuel and his wife. They still anxiously waiting for their son who was still in the surgery room.

“Is that our fault? We want grandchildren too much and forced Jessica to marry Lexi who was sick,” Mr. Samuel said. According to Dr. Syam, Lexi’s illness caused excessive anxiety disorders.

“I think so, but we can’t just sit around and watch Lexi sleep with Jessica before marriage,” Mrs. Anna closed her eyes. She’s starting to give up about what was going on before.

Mrs. Anna close her face with her hands. She held back her tears. Remembering Lexi’s situation, she felt sad, but she also couldn’t keep quiet. She still had to persuade Jessica to marry his son, so that the Ricardo family had heir.

Mr. Samuel’s right hand grabbed the shoulder of the wife who was crying.

Jessica’s footsteps was being closer. Mrs. Anna immediately wiped away her tears. She didn’t want to look weak in front of her.

“Jessica, you two need to go home. I had contacted Arsene and Ronald who will accompany me to take care of Lexi,” Mr. Samuel told them.

“Let’s go home Jessica,” Mrs. Anna said, extending her hand.

“No Ma’am, I will go home after making sure Mr. Lexi is sober. I will feel very guilty if I go home without make sure Mr. Lexi’s condition,” Jessica explained.

“Well, then let me and my wife go home, Jessica, you’re here with Arsene and Ronald,”

“Okay, Sir!” Jessica answered.

An hour later.

Lexi’s been moved to VVIP room. There Arsene and Jessica were faithful to him.

“Nurse, when did Mr. Lexi come to sober?” Jessica asked. It had been almost half an hour since Lexi was transferred to the VVIP room, but he hadn’t regained sober yet.

“Soon, after the anesthesic wears off, the patient will come to his sober,” the woman who works as a nurse said.

Jessica sat down again, next to Arsene who had been sitting on the sofa with her.

“Miss Jessica, are you worried about Lexi?” Arsene’s asked. He knew Jessica hates Lexi.

“I just feel guilty, Mr. Lexi got hurt because of me,” she replied with a languid bow. “Secretary Ken, I have something to ask you,” Jessica said.

“Yes? I will answer as soon as I can,” Arsene said.

“It’s about Mr. Lexi, what actually his disease?” Several times she had heard Lexi’s parents told about it. She wasn’t sure if Lexi was suffering from a disease. He was healthy, stout, and his aura was fresh. Not pale, not looked like a sick person.

“I can’t explain it now, miss. Tomorrow I’ll take you to see Dr. Sham. He’s the one who knows more about Lexi’s illness,” he answered.

Jessica was silent. She looked back at Lexi. The rude man was lying weak for trying to prevent her from doing bad things.

“Jess-Lynn…,” Lexi groaned weakly still closing his eyes.

Jessica who was still guarding Lexi walked over. Looking the rude man, who used to shout at her, now said her name very quietly and repeatedly.
