CHAPTER 12

RUN AWAY

Jessica decided to go to Chelsea’s house. Jessica’s two closest friends are Chelsea and Beryl. Because Beryl was in Singapore for her college registration, Jessica chose to go to Chelsea’s house.

“So, you ran away because you didn’t want to marry him?” Chelsea asked after she heard the story from Jessica. She poured a glass of orange juice. She also put ice cubes into it. She made her friend’s favorite drink.

“No, you know, I still have a lot of desires that I haven’t had time to strive for,” Jessica looked ahead with a look of despair.

“How much money do you need to return that crazy man?!” Chelsea called Lexi with the name that Jessica told her.

“So much, I also don’t know if I can return it in how long,” said Jessica.

It was no secret that Chelsea’s foster parents were wealthy people, her father worked in a large company. Jessica also knew it. Even until now Mr. Arman, a person who always donated at the Kasih Bunda orphanage.

“He’s not ugly but creepy, maybe he’s old. I don’t want to meet again with him. I don’t wanna marry him,” Jessica replied, her eyes sharpening in memory of the terrible night with Lexi.

“Creepy? Did something happen between you two?” Chelsea asked curiously. Something must had happened when two adults were in the same room all night. It was impossible for them just on silent, furthermore Jessica said she had spent all night with a crazy widower.

Jessica chose not to answer. She couldn’t tell that night to Chelsea. If she wanted to talk, it might be later. She wanted to fix her problems with Lexi first.

“When is your father back home?”Jessica asked to diverting attention.

“Soon, he has arrived home usually before five o’clock in the afternoon,” Chelsea replied. “Drink this first,” she added.

Jessica saw a glass of orange juice that Chelsea gave her, then she drank it.

The sound of a car stopped in the garage, it must be Mr. Arman.

“That’s my dad, let’s wait a while after my dad finishes his bathing and then we talk about your problem,”Chelsea said.

“Okay,”Jessica nodded her head.

Arman Wijatmiko and Yeni Martina are Chelsea’s adoptive parents. Since a long time ago, after adopting Chelsea as an adopted child, this couple still came to the orphanage. They also donated to that orphanage every month.

Mr. Arman, working in a large company served as financial manager. With his wife, Mr. Arman was sitting in the living room.

Jessica and Chelsea opened Chelsea’s bedroom door. They left out of the room. They walked toward Chelsea’s parents.

“Oh you are here, Jessica” Mrs. Yeni said. Jessica and Chelsea’s mother shook hands.

” I’ve been busy working, not like before when I was in school, so I rarely come here,” Jessica said. She also shook Mr. Arman hand who sat next to his wife.

Chelsea and Jessica sat opposite them. Chelsea conveyed Jessica’s desire to borrow money.

“So, if Jessica doesn’t pay off the money soon, Jessica has to marry the widower, Dad” Chelsea ended the story.

“Is that true, Jessica?” Mr. Arman asked to make sure of that. He always donated in Kasih Bunda orphanage, but he didn’t know if there was a big problem they faced lately.

“Yes,” Jessica replied, nodding her head.

“Okay, I got it. I’ll try to get some money tonight.” Mr. Arman said. He knew Jessica. Repeatedly he applied to adoption her, but Jessica always refused him.

“Thank you in advance,” Jessica was very grateful cause Mr. Arman wanted to give her a loan.

“Thanks, Dad” Chelsea said. She also invited Jessica to sit on the porch of the house.

The twilight atmosphere with the orange sky was so beautiful. Jessica, who was relieved, could enjoy that beauty sky. Her two eyes looked to the sky with the sun beginning to set.

“Jessica, if that crazy man gave one billion for free, is not he a rich man?” Chelsea looked up, realizing the day was getting dark. Over time, she became increasingly curious about the figure of a crazy man who was meant by his best friend.

Jessica waited while looking the darkening sky. There was a light that decorates the night, the sea of stars with the king of the night. The stars was twinkling that night.

“This,” Chelsea said as she held out a small silver box that Beryl left for Jessica.

Jessica received the small box. When she started to open it, there was a car that suddenly stopped in the yard.

Both Jessica and Chelsea were fixated on the car, who would come and visit in this night.

Two mans walked towards Jessica and Chelsea.

Chelsea’s two eyeballs looked the man who walked first. He looked established and handsome. She was mesmerized.

“Jess, look, how handsome he is,” Chelsea whispered in Jessica’s ear.

The girl didn’t respond to her friend’s words. He looked with anger on the man who was currently walking towards her.

In the afternoon when he went looking for Jessica, Lexi returned to see Mrs. Rani. He was desperate and didn’t know where else to find Jessica.

Along the way Lexi started to get upset. He was starting to get annoyed with Jessica, who was disappointing him. He was being disappointed by Jessica who dared to run away from him. After this, Lexi would show the girl how much power he had so that Jessica couldn’t dare to run away again.

After twenty minutes, Lexi arrived at Chelsea’s home residence. Ronald stopped the car, in front of the gate. Then he went inside because of the unlocked gate. Together with Lexi who walked first, Ronald continued to follow behind him.

Two people were seen on the porch was shocking. From a distance, Lexi could see Jessica there. Lexi seemed to have a strong feeling to know the whereabouts of the girl.

Lexi stopped right in front of the girl he had been looking for non-stop since this morning.

“Jessica, you have to come home with me. Let’s go home now or I’ll force you to go home!” Lexi forced Jessica.

“Who is that man? Why does he know you?” Chelsea was standing right behind Jessica.

“No, I don’t want. I already have a billion dollars to repay the debt to you,” Jessica rejected. “Isn’t that right, Chelsea? Mr. Arman, his father, wants to lend me a billion dollars and I will pay off the debt to you right now,” Jessica answered with full of confidence and a loud voice.

Lexi was silent. He still had a lot of ways to trap Jessica, to keep her with him. However, if Jessica really had that one billion dollars, he didn’t know how to made her obey.

“Chelsea, let’s get your father, let him talk to Mr. Lexi that he has one billion and will pay it soon. Mr. Arman said that tomorrow he will bring that one billion dollars,” Jessica said, her confidence slowly got down.

“Jessica, is it true that you rejected this handsome man? He wants to marry you. Look at him, so handsome and charismatic. Even though he’s a widower, I don’t deny that he is widower, he is so cool,” Chelsea whispered in her best friend’s ear. She immediately understood if the man in front of her, was the man told by Jessica.

“Chelsea, hurry up! Get Mr. Arman right now!” Jessica started to get angry with Chelsea who couldn’t be serious. She didn’t know how serious this is.

“Okay, I’ll call my dad,” Chelsea stole a glance at Lexi.

Then, Chelsea went into the house to see her father.

“Dad, the man who lent Jessica the money came here to take Jessica back to work at his place. I want to talk to him and convince him that I want to give him a billion dollars tomorrow”” Chelsea said, referring to what happened on her front porch.

“Did he come to this house?” her dad asked.

“Yups, that person is already outside and is negotiating with Jessica,” Chelsea reached out impatiently to take her father out with her.

“Looks like that guy was so stubborn to the point of looking for Jessica here!” the man said. “I will talk to him.” Along with his father, Chelsea went out to meet Om who had loaned Jessica one billion.

Seeing the arrival of Mr. Arman, Jessica felt victorious. He looked up and smiled proudly at his friend’s father. She convinced that Mr. Arman liked the angel who would help her out of this problem.

“This is Mr. Arman who will lend one billion money to return your money,” Jessica said.

Mr. Arman didn’t respond to Jessica’s words, but he was fixated on seeing Lexi who came to his house. He moved towards Lexi. “You came to this house it’s an honor for me, you want to come here,” Mr. Arman said to Lexi..

Either Jessica or Chelsea was being stone. They couldn’t believe what Mr. Arman just said.

“Jessica, Chelsea, so Mr. Lexi is the owner of the company where Daddy works” Mr. Arman told them.

“What?” Chelsea and Jessica startled at the same time.
