Crawling Back To Her Series Redemption and Refuse

Redemption 78

Book Chapter8.

Thinking about what Sarah and the vendor said, I realized I'm not the same

person I used to be. I can't be so submissive for a man.

I packed up my things and moved out.

I went to stay with my grandmother.

After my parents passed away, she was my only family. She had been a painter in

her youth, and when I arrived, she was still working on her art.

"Becca, you're here!"

She smiled warmly, her eyes crinkling with joy.

I couldn't help but cry as I hugged her tightly.

"What's wrong, dear? Who's been upsetting you?"

"I..."

Just thinking about how Ryan Mitchell treated me made it hard to speak.

Grandma saw through me and patted my shoulder. "You had a row with Ryan, didn't you? It's alright. Even teeth and tongue have their spats, so it's no wonder people do. It'll blow over, and he'll come around."

But this was different from an ordinary argument.

That night, I received a message from Ryan. It was a photo of Lana Brooks' wrist.

There was a shallow cut, almost healed.

"Lana tried to kill herself, and you're still upset with me? Becca Bennett, can't you stop being so stubborn?"

He always blamed me.

Said I was too strong-willed and unreasonable.

And everything Lana did was right.

Back then, I really thought I was in the wrong.

I tried hard to change, but now, I realize it's not my fault.

I should be passionate, free-spirited, and live for myself.

Why should I be controlled by him?

So, I broke up with him and blocked his number and messages.

I wanted nothing more than to live quietly in this small village for a while.

Grandma didn't press me for details. She just kept me company, cooking and painting with me.

But before long, Ryan showed up.

He stood at my door with my winter coat and a lot of gifts, kneeling on the doorstep.

"Becky, come back home with me."

I stayed upstairs, reluctant to come down.

He added, "Let's get married when

we go back. I'll give you and our child a home. I was wrong that day, and Dwon't criticize you

Grandma was both surprised and delighted.

"Child, you're pregnant?"

"Yes..."

I didn't know how to explain to Grandma that I didn't want this baby.

Thinking of her last wish made me even more reluctant to speak up.

She immediately let Ryan in and treated him with the best food and drink.

Ryan put my coat on me and took out the ring he had bought me, kneeling before

He gazed at me with deep affection.

20 you marry me? Our child

needs a home, and you need husband."

"I'll take good care of you and change everything that's wrong."

Seeing Grandma's happy face, I swallowed my refusal and nodded.

It seemed like I couldn't stay here any longer. I had to come up with another plan.

After dinner, Grandma watched us leave.

Ryan was still smiling as we drove..

Show we used to b

here when we were kids?"

Yes, back then we were innocent.

No complicated emotions.

"Ryan, I agreed to this because I didn't want to upset Grandma."

"When we get back, I won't marry you."

He slammed on the brakes.

"Stop kidding around."

"I've completely cut ties with Lana. I sent her back to the South."

I was surprised he could let her go.
