Redemption 68
Book5 Chapter8.
The sharp question left Stanley, who had just managed to regain his smile, at a loss for words.
He stood up, looking like a student caught in wrongdoing, trying to explain.
"It's not like that... This.. It was an accident. Juliana, you must believe me. I love you!"
Amelia, overhearing this, was immediately displeased. She stood up, touching her belly, and was about to leave.
"Stanley, no need to say more. I won't make things difficult for you. I'm leaving now!"
Though she said she was leaving, her steps remained unmoving.
I understood she was only hoping to get a little more reassurance from the man.
He seemed hesitant, wavering between us.
I suddenly felt that he was Stanley, yet not Stanley.
My Stanley would never make me an option. He would definitely stand by my side firmly.
So I nudged the man.
"Hurry up and go after her. If you don't, she might be angry and leave you. My Stanley would never leave me alone."
The man, who had been hesitating, seemed stunned by my words.
He stared at the girl's retreating figure and suddenly said.
"I'll give you the money for the abortion and provide extra living expenses. Stop bothering me. Juliana's illness requires rest and shouldn't be subjected to any more stress."
The girl's confident expression vanished entirely. She turned abruptly, glaring at me with a fierce look.
Her gaze seemed as though she wanted to devour me alive.
I instinctively shrank back, wishing my Stanley were here.
He would protect me.
Feeling a bit aggrieved, I couldn't help but want to cry.
Seeing me in tears, the man hurriedly embraced me, whispering comforting words.
"It's okay. I'm here. I'll make sure she never appears in front of you again, okay?"
Before I could respond, he shouted at the girl.
"Why are you still standing there? Get lost! Or you won't get a single penny!"
The girl looked extremely reluctant but stomped her foot and slammed the door as she left.
Huddled in his embrace, I tugged at his clothes.
"Stanley?"
Hearing me finally call him that, he was overjoyed and responded eagerly.
"I'm here! What's wrong?"
After thinking for a while, I decided to give him some advice.
"Don't make girls sad in the future. Although don't know what
happened between us, I feel veel
pained. Please don't make me suffer anymore, okay?"
He wanted to agree, but my next question froze him.
"By the way, where are my parents? Why haven't they come to see me yet?"
My heart began to race faster, wondering how he would answer me.
How could he make me accept that my parents had died in a car accident while delivering food to him?
I remembered my parents, in their
final moments, holding his hand asking him to take good care And he had promised.
But what did he do?

3/4 What happened next was something he couldn't bear to recall.
After my parents died, I fell into a deep depression.
I lost my smile for a long time.
At first, he could barely tolerate it, but over time, seeing my despair when he came home made him feel repelled.
So his gaze began to shift towards the new secretary.
She was lively, sunny, and sociable.
She just resembled me from the past.
What he found hardest to resist was the affection in the girl's eyes.
He convinced himself that the financial pressure of supporting the family was too great.
So he..
But the affair was like a Pandora's box. Once opened, it cannot be closed.
Thus, he sank into it.
He even thought despicably that since my parents had passed away, I was left with only him, so I couldn't
do anything about it. Contest
The words my parents had said in their final moments echoed in his mind again.
He let out a painful whimper.
Then he tried to explain, only to find that I had fallen asleep.
What do you think?
