Contract Marriage With The Disabled CEO Chapter 151

Chapter 151 Daisy’s Taunts

When Betty left the office, she received a

phone call from her father.

“I heard your mother woke up. How is she? Is she hospitalized again?” Roger began.

“Yeah, she has. She is okay and needs

recuperation,” Betty replied.

Roger recalled the past.

Sherry’s dark hair drooped down to her shoulders, and her cherry lips were enchanting. He fell for her at fight sight.

However, the Watson family had been doing business with the family of Daisy’s mother. In the middle of a major crisis, they couldn’t afford to offend their partner.

He had no choice except to abandon Sherry. Now he only hoped that she would forgive

him.

Sherry.

Sherry had woken up, and he missed her very much. He wanted to call her and hear her

tvoice.

While Roger was lost for words, Daisy came up and snatched the phone away.

“Betty? This is Daisy. Come over for dinner this weekend. I won’t take no for an answer.”

Upon hearing Daisy’s voice, Betty hated her father for being such a wimp. How come he fell in love with such a tough woman back

then?

Betty didn’t want to go. The last experience of dining with them was not a happy one. She

would rather not see them.

So, she replied, “I’m afraid I have to work on

Sunday.”

Daisy sneered. “It’s alright. Your brother is your boss, right? Let him cancel your shift. No more excuses. You have to come.”

never been in her dictionary.

Betty had to agree.

Daisy hung up the phone, rolled her eyes at Roger, and gloated. “Don’t look for Sherry again. Act like she hasn’t woken up.”

Roger intended to ask more about Sherry,

but Daisy hung up the phone. Crestfallen, he

fell silent and decided to ask his daughter in

private when she came over on Sunday.

From the wry look on Betty’s face, Kerwin

could tell the person on the other end of the

phone was unfriendly.

“How about I go with you?” he said.

Betty hesitated for a moment and declined,

“It’s alright. I’ll go by myself.” C0pyright © 2024 Nôv)(elDrama.Org.

It was not that she didn’t want to take

Kerwin to her father’s place. She just knew

the situation with her family and those

people too well. The last thing she wanted was to get Kerwin involved.

Kerwin would spare no effort protecting her,3

and the dinner would end up as a farce. Betty didn’t want to lose face in front of him.

On Sunday, Betty arrived at the house of the

Watson family as promised.

She rapped on the door.

The nanny came and invited her in.

Daisy was sitting on the sofa drinking coffee.

Across from her sat Emily and Jeffrey.

At the sight of her, Daisy stood up and struck

an attitude. “You’re late. Everyone has been

waiting for you.”

Jeffrey turned around. His heart skipped a

beat the moment he saw Betty.

“Sorry, I was caught in a traffic jam,” she

explained.

To smooth things over, Jeffrey said, “It’s okay. We’ve just arrived too.”

Emily was stone-faced and indifferent.

husband to come for dinner. I don’t know what he is doing in the study.”

Betty could feel Daisy’s good mood, and it

was surprising that the woman didn’t make things difficult for her. Is there anything worth celebrating?

Roger came out of the study. The sight of Betty delighted him.

With a smile on his face, he said, “Betty,

you’re here. Come on, let’s go for dinner.”

Betty followed him to the dining table.

The table looked fancy with a large bouquet,

various delicacies, and a bottle of Roger’s

vintage wine sitting on it.

After everyone was seated, they each poured

a glass of wine.

Daisy raised her glass and announced, “It’s at big day today. I am so happy. My dear daughter, Emily, is pregnant! Jeffrey and she are getting married soon.”

She was swelling with pride.

Now Betty realized why Daisy was so persistent in inviting her over. Daisy meant

to show off. Old habits die hard.

She ingratiated herself with Jeffrey, picking

up dishes for him from time to time.

Betty remained silent and bent her face over

her plate. Daisy misinterpreted her frown as

self-abasement.

She mocked Betty on purpose, “Betty, you’ve got married. Why didn’t you bring your husband over and let him meet your father?

Is he so poor that you’re embarrassed to bring him home? No pressure, hehe… Few

men can compare with Jeffrey anyway.”

Putting down her knife and fork, Betty said, “I’m full. You guys enjoy your dinner.”

“What’s the rush? Have more glasses of

wine. Don’t be a wet blanket,” Daisy said.

Emily tried to stop Daisy from acting like that, but she would neither listen nor understand it.

Jeffrey felt sorry for Betty and intended to protect her.

He was just in no place to do that. He was going to marry Emily after all.

Daisy continued, “The wedding ring on your finger is low in quality. Is your husband able to provide for you? The two of you are not expected to come and borrow money from your father. Alas, without charm and chastity, a woman can only marry a poor guy. Her fate is sealed. What a shame! Women deserve carefree, affluent, and happy lives. What a shame! Betty, you’re pitiful. Sigh.”

“Mom, let’s talk about something else.”

Emily was trying to silence her mother.

Daisy would not listen.

Today, Daisy would let Betty know that she could never compare with Emily.

She added, “Emily is a kind-hearted lady. She doesn’t want her sister to feel inferior.

Don’t take it to heart or dream about changing your destiny. It’s hard for poor people to make money. It takes great capability to become a millionaire. Jeffrey is

the young master of the Martin family. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and we have no worries when Emily is staying with him. He would give the best of everything to her.”

“Mom! Cut it out.” Daisy’s words

embarrassed Emily. Betty’s husband was

outstanding, and her mother was being ridiculous.

Not ready to give up, Daisy intended to continue when Roger received a phone call.

He answered the phone and changed color.
