Chasing The Rejected

CHAPTER 130

-DIMITRI-

I immediately ran towards the house when I heard Clara shouting at someone. As soon as I walked in, I saw her dropping my phone back on the table with an irritated and sad look on her face.

“Who were you just on the phone with?” I questioned, trying to mask the panic in my voice. S***! I shouldn’t have taken my phone with me.

“It was Damon. That * really has the nerve to call me his wife after what he did to me. I’m sure your mother is awake now and that’s why he suddenly has a change of heart but I could care less. I hate him!” She screamed and despite her words, I could see the hurt in her eyes and longing.

She loved Damon dearly and for the fact that he was willing to protect her despite not knowing the truth proved that he loved her as well.

I didn’t like getting in the way of my brother’s happiness, especially because I’ve never seen him this way before but in order to help him, this had to be done.

“Did you tell him anything like where we were?” I questioned as I placed the phone inside my pocket.

“No, of course not, I don’t want to see him” She replied and I heaved a sigh of relief before nodding.

“Okay. He won’t find us here, okay? I’m the only one that knows about this place. Here, I bought you food” I said as wiggled the plastic bag with food in front of her face but that wasn’t enough to wipe the frown off her face.

“I’m not hungry” She told me and I rolled my eyes.

“You may not be hungry but my nephew or niece surely is and I won’t have them getting hurt because their mother is heart broken. Sit down and eat” I ordered and she pouted her lips at me before taking a seat on the dining table.

I immediately served the phone on a plate and placed it in front of her and watched her as she ate. She claimed to not be hungry but she had wiped her plate clean in minutes.

“Can I ask you a question, Clara?” I questioned and she nodded slowly.

“As long as it doesn’t have anything to do with Damon then go ahead. Are you going to eat this?” She questioned as she flashed me an innocent look which made me chuckle.

“I thought you weren’t hungry?” I questioned and she pouted.

“I’m not but the baby is” She said and I smiled before dishing out the food for her.

“Eat as much as you want, I’m not hungry” I told her and she nodded before she continued eating.

“So… Do you know anything about your background, Clara?” I questioned and she shook her head.

“I never got to find out. Why?” She questioned and I shook my head.Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.

“Nothing really. I’m just curious as to why you didn’t have a last name. Why did you never take your ex’s surname?” I questioned and she shrugged.

“They didn’t take me in as their daughter so why would I take their last name?” She questioned and I nodded. That made sense?

“So you were never curious about your background? Why you were left outside your ex pack? Don’t recollection of your past? I mean you were six when you left by your ex pack gate and you have not a single recollection of your past?” I questioned and she suddenly stopped eating then turned to me with a frown.

“Why are you suddenly so interested in my life?” She questioned with confusion etched on her face.

“Because you’re my brother’s wife and the mother of my nephew or niece. Is it bad to want to know more about you? I want to know why my brother loves you” I said to her and she scoffed.

“Love? Didn’t you see how quick he was to abandon me and his children? How is that love? He promised not to hurt me again, not to make me cry but it seems that’s what he’s best at” She uttered andy eyes widened when she suddenly began to

cry.

I immediately stood up from my seat and wrapped my arms around her.

“Hush now, why are you crying?” I questioned softly while patting her back.

“Because I love him so much, Dimitri. So f***g much that it hurts. Despite what he did to me, I still miss him so much” She murmured in between cries and I sighed as I just held her without saying anything as guilt found its way into my

heart.

I didn’t like hurting Clara, she was a good person and was a woman any man would be lucky to have. If had met her first, the goddess knew it would have been so easy to fall in love with her.

After a while, she stopped crying and I took her to one of the rooms and stayed by the door and watched her till she fell asleep and even while she was asleep, she was still crying.

F**k, had I broken her because of my lie?

I sighed as I walked out of the room, closing the door behind me as I pulled out my phone from my pocket. Clara had switched it off which was a good thing so Damon wouldn’t be able to track us and I knew I was risking everything by turning it back on but I needed to make this call.

As soon as the phone was on, I searched for the number and dialed it before pressing the phone against my ear.

“Any progress?” The person at the other end of the call, uttered.

“I’m going great, you?” I questioned sarcastically as I rolled my eyes and the man at the other end scoffed.

“I have got no time for your antics, Dimitri. What is the update?” He questioned and when I heard that seriousness in his voice, I got serious.

“I’ve got the girl, she’s with me now. Shall we move on to the next phase?” I questioned and the man hummed in approval.

“Good. Text me the address and I’ll take it from there” And then he hung up and I rolled my eyes.

That b** was as cold as usual.

“Who was that and what do you mean by you’ve gotten the girl?” I immediately froze when I heard Clara’s voice behind

me.

I slowly turned around and my eyes widened when I saw the frown on her face as she glared at me.

“You better start talking before I start throwing hands, Dimitr…
