Chapter 917
Rosalie replied, "You had a bad dream last night and kept calling Youngie's name."
Vincent's grip tightened over the spoon he was holding so hard his knuckles popped up.Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
"Who's Youngie?"
Rosalie was sure Youngie was his girlfriend or someone special to him. All she knew was that he looked to be in much pain when he called out Youngie's name in his nightmare.
That look of pain seemed as though the girl named Youngie was no longer around.
Vincent remained seemingly emotionless, but his gaze shifted as he said indifferently, "The next time I have a nightmare, keep away from me and leave me be."
"Oh, okay."
Rosalie was about to sit down when realization dawned upon her.
Why would there be a next time?
She chuckled awkwardly. "It's good that you're fine now. I'll leave right after lunch. Don't worry, there won't be a next time."
He saved her and got injured. She was worried that something might happen to him, so she stayed the night to keep watch over him.
Since he was fine, she had no reason to stay with him. Her baby was still waiting for her to return.
"I saved you. You should at least repay my kindness," he said it so casually but he was clearly hinting at something.
Rosalie's brows furrowed slightly and remembered their previous conversation about money.
Rosalie put down her spoon and said, "Give me a figure. As long as I can afford it, I'll give it to you."
Her life was priceless, and since this man saved her life, she naturally had to repay him.
He raised his request. "Ten billion dollars."
Rosalie's face stiffened as her heart leaped. "I'm sorry but I don't have ten billion dollars. Can you give me a more reasonable figure?"
"You don't think your life is worth ten billion dollars?"
"My life is priceless, but I don't have ten billion dollars."
"Does your husband not have that amount too?"
The indifferent look on his face made Rosalie think that he was joking with or teasing her.
"His money belongs to him and has nothing to do with me."
"You two are husband and wife, how could it have nothing to do with you? I saved his beloved wife, after all."
"Vincent," Rosalie said, raising her
voice. "Can you please name a more reasonable price? I'll definitely give you whatever I can, but I really cannot afford ten billion dollars, I'm sorry."
Vincent leaned back against the chair and said carelessly, "Alright, then. Ten thousand dollars."
Rosalie burst out laughing. "Can you please give me a legitimate figure?"
"Is ten thousand dollars not legitimate enough?" Vincent looked innocently at her.
"Ten thousand dollars is so little. Are you sure?"
This man was way too extreme, going from ten billion dollars to ten thousand dollars. She felt like he was just fooling around and taking it as child's play.
"Of course, I'm sure. But on one condition."
Vincent's eyes were deep and dark, like a black hole swallowing up everything in its wake. They were
like stars hanging on the night sky, twinkling brightly and incisively.
"What condition?" Rosalie asked.
"Stay with me here for one week until I recover from my injury."
Rosalie's heart skipped a beat. "What did you say?"
"Well? Ten thousand dollars plus one week of your time. I'm sure you can agree to that, right?"
Rosalie didn't know what to say at that moment. This man was fooling around, that's for sure.
"I hope you can take this more
seriously," Rosalie said solemnly. "You saved me and for that, I'm very grateful to you. I willingly took care of you last night and you're much better now. You first named a price of ten billion dollars before reducing it to ten thousand dollars plus a week of me taking care of you. That makes me suspicious of your motive. I'm sorry, but I can't agree to that."
