Ten minutes later, the police came to Rosalie's house.

Rosalie had engaged a professional company to install a police alarm system in her house. In case anything were to happen, pressing the button would alert the nearest police station.

She pressed the button right before she left the house, and the police rushed over the moment they received the call. However, after pressing the doorbell many times, they received no response from inside.

They even tried calling Rosalie's phone, but she didn't answer it.

Justin stepped out of the elevator with a bouquet of fresh flowers, excited and eager to see Rosalie again. Yet, when he approached the door, he saw a few policemen standing outside.

Justin immediately hid in a corner.

What was the police doing here?

Did Chandra decide to pursue the matter after all?

However, Rosalie told him that the matter was considered over and that he shouldn't worry. He could come back with peace of mind.

Justin naturally didn't think that Rosalie would lie to him. It was more likely that something else had happened.

Just then, a phone rang. It belonged to one of the policemen.

He answered the call. "Hello."noveldrama

"Is that Ms. Rosalie Young? Did you call the police? We received the alert and rushed over."

The caller said something before the policeman replied, "I see. Got it. Are you sure you're alright?

"Okay. Get someone to look into the system so the glitch doesn't occur again."

The policeman hung up and told his colleague, "She called to say that she's fine and not at home. It's probably a glitch in the system. Let's go." The policemen left.

Justin hid in a dark corner and emerged after making sure the policemen were gone. Having overheard their conversation, he sensed that something was wrong.

He approached the apartment.

Since no one came to the door, it was clear Rosalie wasn't at home.

Justin decided to enter the apartment since he had the passcode to the door. However, he realized that the passcode was wrong after a few attempts. That confused Justin even further. He tried one more time, and it was wrong again. It seemed Rosalie had changed the passcode, but why?

Wait.

Justin suddenly remembered hearing the policeman say that there was a police alarm system in the apartment.

From the conversation earlier, it was probably a glitch that triggered the police alarm which alerted the policemen.

Rosalie might have installed a

security system and changed the passcode along with it. She probably couldn't tell him about it in time, or she had forgotten about informing him.

Come to think of it, perhaps she did it after he left for fear that something might happen in his absence.

Rosalie wasn't at home right now and was probably out.

He didn't know when Rosalie would return, but he was worried that waiting outside the door might arouse suspicions. He decided to head out and walk around before returning at a later time.

He was about to step away when he heard cries coming from inside.

Justin's brows furrowed as he strained his ears.

A baby's cries sounded from inside, and they were becoming louder. They were clearly coming from Steve.

Justin pressed the doorbell. "Rose, are you there?"

But all he could hear were Steve's cries.

Strange. Why would Rosalie leave the baby at home alone?

By right, she wouldn't do that. She would surely take the baby out. Even if it weren't convenient for her to take the baby out, she would leave the baby in childcare instead of leaving him at home.

Something must have gone wrong.
